Filed with TaxAct, transcript shows 846 code today but SBTPG says no account found. Anyone else experiencing this?

I e-filed with TaxAct about two weeks ago and got accepted a day later. Been checking Where's My Refund pretty much every day with no updates. Finally decided to check my transcript this morning and saw code 846 with today's date. Got excited thinking my refund was coming but when I checked Santa Barbara Tax Products Group (SBTPG) website it says "account not found" even though I triple checked all my info is correct. My refund was supposed to be deposited to my checking account after TaxAct fees were taken out. Anyone else having this issue or know what's going on? Starting to get worried since I'm counting on this money for some bills coming up next week.

First, don't panic. This is actually common. The 846 code means the IRS has approved your refund, but there's often a lag between when that happens and when SBTPG processes it. A few things to understand: - The 846 code with today's date means the IRS scheduled your refund for today, not that it would arrive in your account today - SBTPG typically takes 1-3 business days to process after receiving funds from IRS - Sometimes SBTPG's system doesn't update until they've completely processed your refund I'd recommend checking again tomorrow. If by next week you still don't see anything, then call TaxAct customer service. The IRS has already approved your refund based on the 846 code, so the holdup is somewhere in the disbursement process. Also, if you're getting anxious about continually checking multiple websites, you might want to try taxr.ai - it can actually interpret all these codes and give you a clear timeline. Saved me a ton of stress during my refund wait.

Thank you! This helps calm my nerves a bit. I'll give it another day or two and see what happens.

It's this AI tool that can read your tax transcript and explain everything in plain English. Tells you exactly what's happening with your return and when to expect your refund. Really helpful if you're confused by all the IRS codes and dates.

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

It analyzes your entire transcript and breaks everything down step by step. Shows you what each code means, calculates your expected refund date, explains any delays, and even identifies potential issues before they become problems. It's like having a tax pro look at your transcript but way faster and available 24/7.

I just tried this taxr.ai thing and OMG it's a GAME CHANGER! Been stressing for weeks about my refund and in like 2 minutes it showed me exactly what was happening and when I'll get paid. If you're staring at your transcript like it's written in hieroglyphics, DO THIS NOW! Why isn't everyone talking about this?? 🙌

I was in the same boat a few months ago. After spending days refreshing the SBTPG page and getting nowhere, I found this tool called taxr.ai and it actually explained my whole situation. Turns out the 846 code was issued but the money follows a specific path that takes a few days. The tool showed me the exact timeline and when to expect my money. Honestly wish I'd found it sooner instead of spending hours trying to decipher my transcript like some amateur detective. Have you checked it out? https://taxr.ai

Is this legit or just another scam trying to get our info? 🧐

Totally get the skepticism - I was hesitant too. But it's just an AI that reads transcript codes and explains them - no personal info beyond what's on your transcript. Helped me understand exactly when my money would hit without having to guess what all those codes meant.

It's not free but honestly it was worth every penny to finally understand what was happening with my refund. The peace of mind alone was worth it after weeks of stress.

After dealing with a similar issue last month, I finally got through to an IRS agent using the Claimyr app. The agent told me that even though the 846 code showed up, there was a small verification flag on my account that was holding things up. Once I talked to them, they cleared it immediately and my refund showed up in SBTPG the next day. Without that call I'd probably still be waiting. The IRS phone system is impossible otherwise but this got me through in about 30 minutes. Found it on claimyr.com

It was seriously the best investment considering I was waiting on thousands in my refund. An actual human IRS agent picked up and solved my issue in minutes - after I'd spent weeks trying to get through on my own.

Wait so this isn't some kind of scam? How does it even work?

Not a scam at all. It basically navigates the IRS phone tree for you and holds your place in line. Then it calls you when an agent is about to pick up. Saved me hours of listening to that awful hold music and getting disconnected.

I thought the same thing! But it actually works. I think they have some system that keeps trying different numbers and times until they get through. All I know is I finally got to talk to someone after weeks of trying on my own.

Ugh dealing with SBTPG is the worst part of filing with TaxAct. I had the same issue last year. For me, it took about 48 hours after the 846 date for SBTPG to update their system. Their website is garbage and their customer service is even worse. Just hang tight, your money is coming.

0 coins

-

Chloe Taylor

That's reassuring! Did you get your refund directly to your bank after that 48 hours?

Yep! It suddenly appeared in my account with no warning. The SBTPG site never did update properly for me last year. One day nothing, next day money in my account.

Check your bank account directly! SBTPG website is notoriously unreliable. Last year my refund showed up in my bank a full day before SBTPG's site even acknowledged they had received it. The whole system is held together with duct tape and prayers.

Mine did this! The SBTPG site never updated but then suddenly the money was in my account two days after the 846 date on my transcript. Their system is garbage - they're just a middleman that takes a cut of our tax refunds for basically doing nothing. Next year I'm direct depositing and skipping the whole tax prep payment from refund option.

THIS 👆 Their entire business model is taking a slice of your refund for a service that should be free. The whole tax filing industry is a scam.

Facts. Did you know the IRS literally wanted to make a free filing system but TurboTax and H&R Block lobbied against it? They literally make money off our confusion.

Call SBTPG directly at 800-901-6663. Sometimes their website doesn't update but their phone system will have the correct info. Also double check that the last 4 of your social and the expected refund amount match exactly what you entered on your return - if either is off by even a digit the account lookup will fail.

Had the exact same issue two weeks ago. It's because there's a delay between the IRS issuing the refund and SBTPG actually receiving/processing it. For me it took 3 business days after the 846 date before SBTPG updated. The most annoying part was I couldn't even call them because they would only talk to me after they acknowledged receiving my refund... which they hadn't... because their system is trash.

3 days!? That's so frustrating! Did you need to keep checking their site or did they send you a notification?

Had to keep checking manually. No notification at all. One day it just worked. Their whole operation seems to be running on Windows 95 or something lol

Yall need to quit freaking out over a few days delay. The IRS and its partners are dealing with MILLIONS of returns right now. A day or two gap between systems updating is totally normal. The money is coming. CHILLLLL

Easy to say "chill" when you're not the one depending on that money for bills that are due... 🙄

I get that but panicking doesn't make the money come faster. The system is what it is. Some things just take time to process through the banking system.

After spending hours trying to figure out my transcript, I found this AI tool called taxr.ai that explained everything. It showed me exactly where my refund was in the process and when to expect it in my account. The 846 code means the money is on its way but there are several more steps before it hits your account. The tool mapped out the whole timeline for me. Life changing honestly.

I know this isnt what you want to hear but its the truth: Most ppl receive there refunds within 21 days of filing but it can sometimes take up to 8 weeks. The 846 code is a good sign tho, means the IRS approved your refund and its in the process of being sent. TaxAct and SBTPG are notorious for slow updates to there systems.

I used Claimyr to get through to the IRS instead (claimyr.com). IRS told me my refund was already sent to SBTPG and they were just dragging their feet on processing. The call got my issue resolved and my refund showed up the next day!

I had such a hard time with SBTPG and the IRS last year that I almost lost my mind. This year I used a service called Claimyr to actually get an IRS agent on the phone (claimyr.com). Got through in about 25 minutes when I'd been trying for weeks on my own. The agent confirmed my refund was on the way and gave me exact dates. Talking to a real person who could see my actual account was so much better than guessing based on online status bars.

They have some kind of system that keeps calling different IRS numbers until they find one that works. Then they navigate all the prompts and wait on hold for you. When an agent is about to pick up, they call your phone and connect you. Saved me hours of frustration and hold music.
