Filed Feb 3rd but Transcript Shows "Return Not Present" - What Does "AS OF: Mar 11" Mean?
I filed my taxes on February 3rd and I still can't see anything on my transcript. I just checked again today (April 4th) and I'm getting frustrated. The Where's My Refund tool just says it's processing and they'll provide a date when available. Been stuck like this forever. I can see my Account Transcript shows: FORM NUMBER: 1040 TAX PERIOD: Dec. 31, 2023 ACCOUNT BALANCE: 0.00 ACCRUED INTEREST: 0.00 AS OF: Mar. 11, 2024 ACCRUED PENALTY: 0.00 AS OF: Mar. 11, 2024 ACCOUNT BALANCE PLUS ACCRUALS (this is not a payoff amount): 0.00 Under my filing information it shows: FILING STATUS: Head of Household But then has "RETURN NOT PRESENT FOR THIS ACCOUNT" and under TRANSACTIONS it says "No tax return filed" I got a Tracking Number: 105802 when I requested my transcript. Can someone explain what the "AS OF: Mar. 11, 2024" date means on my account transcript? Does this mean they haven't even received my return yet despite me filing over 2 months ago? I filed Head of Household status and I'm concerned my return is lost or there's a problem. I really need this refund and don't understand why nothing is showing up in my transcript after so long.

Hey there! IRS expert here. Looking at your situation with a blank transcript and WMR stuck on processing - this is actually pretty common right now, especially for 2023 returns filed in 2024. The 'as of' date on your transcript is basically just a placeholder the IRS uses for processing cycles. It doesn't necessarily mean anything will happen on that specific date, but it does indicate your return is in the system. Honestly, the best thing I can recommend is using taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) to analyze your transcript and get a detailed breakdown of whats actually happening. It'll tell you exactly where you are in the process and give you a much clearer picture than the WMR tool. It's been super helpful for a lot of folks in similar situations.

The 'as of' date is basically when the IRS last updated or plans to update your account. But honestly, it doesn't mean much these days - I've seen it change without any actual updates happening. A blank transcript usually means they haven't started processing your return yet.

Hey, instead of trying to decode these cryptic transcript codes and dates, you should try taxr.ai - it's like $5 but totally worth it. The AI reads your transcript and tells you exactly what's happening and when to expect your refund. Way better than playing detective! https://taxr.ai

•totally get the concern! but they use bank-level encryption and don't store any data. Plus the analysis is instant

Pro tip: Check your transcript between 12am-3am EST on weekdays. That's when they usually update the system.
