IRS Transcript "As Of Date" Changed From May 8 to May 22 With Code 810 Refund Freeze - Filed February, Still Waiting
My as of date on my transcript just changed from May 8 to May 23. Been waiting forever for my refund and don't know if this is good news or bad news. Anyone else experiencing this? Filed back in February and still nothing. I'm looking at my Account Transcript for Tax Period ending Dec. 31, 2022 and I'm so confused. Here's what I'm seeing: ACCOUNT BALANCE: 0.00 ACCRUED INTEREST: 0.00 AS OF: May 23, 2023 ACCRUED PENALTY: 0.00 AS OF: May 23, 2023 My filing status is Head of Household. The return due date or return received date (whichever is later) shows Apr. 15, 2023. The processing date was initially May 08, 2023, but now it changed to May 23, 2023. In the TRANSACTIONS section, I see: CODE EXPLANATION OF TRANSACTION CYCLE DATE 150 Tax return filed 20231605 05-09-2023 806 W-2 or 1099 withholding 04-16-2023 810 Refund freeze 02-24-2023 766 Credit to your account 04-16-2023 766 Credit to your account 04-16-2023 768 Earned income credit 04-16-2023 What's concerning me is that "810 Refund freeze" from February. Does that mean my refund is being held up? And why did my "as of" date change? Is the IRS looking at my return again? I've been checking WMR and calling but getting nowhere. I filed as Head of Household back in February and really need this money. Has anyone else had their transcript date change like this and still got their refund? What does this all mean?

Hey there! The as-of date change is actually pretty common and doesn't necessarily mean anything significant about your refund timeline. When the as-of date updates, it usually just means the IRS computer system is doing its regular cycle updates. Sometimes it can indicate movement on your return, but not always. I've seen plenty of cases where the date shifts back and forth without any real progress. If you want a really detailed analysis of your situation, I'd recommend checking out taxr.ai - it's this new AI tool that can analyze your transcript and tell you exactly what's happening with your refund and when to expect it. Way better than trying to decode all these weird IRS codes and dates ourselves 😅 Btw, keep checking your transcripts weekly rather than daily - those as-of dates can drive you crazy if you watch them too closely!

The as of date changing doesn't necessarily mean anything significant. It's just when the IRS computer system updates your account info. Sometimes it moves forward, sometimes backward. What really matters are the transaction codes on your transcript.

Hey, have you tried using taxr.ai? It analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's happening with your refund and when to expect it. Saved me hours of googling random codes. Its only $4.99 and totally worth it https://taxr.ai

•How exactly does it work? Does it just read the transcript or what?

Let me break this down for everyone because there's a lot of misunderstanding about as of dates: The as of date is just an internal IRS processing marker. It can change for many reasons: - System updates - Account reviews - Processing stages - Automated checks What you really need to look at are your transaction codes. Those tell the real story of whats happening with your return. The best way to actually understand your transcript is to use an AI analysis tool like taxr.ai - it breaks everything down in plain English and gives you actual timelines instead of trying to guess what everything means. I've been helping folks with tax issues for years and honestly these tools are game changers for understanding whats actually happening with your refund.
