Federal refund delayed after state was received on SoFi? Anyone else?

This could be a few different things happening. The 846 code with today's date means the IRS has scheduled the refund to be sent today, but it doesn't guarantee the money will be in your account today. After banging my head against the wall trying to get through to the IRS about a similar issue (my refund was showing sent but nowhere to be found), I found this service called Claimyr that connected me with an actual IRS agent. This happened to me too! I got my state refund from Colorado on Tuesday and my federal was supposed to hit today (Friday) but nothing yet. Checked IRS2Go and WMR and they still say my deposit date is today. Frustrating!

tbh if you have SoFi they're notorious for this. might not be an IRS issue at all but a SoFi thing. they held my direct deposit from work for a whole day last month for 'verification' or whatever. drives me nuts.

The same EXACT thing happened to me! Got IL state refund on Monday, federal was supposed to come Wednesday per my transcript (had the 846 code with that date) but it didn't show up until Friday morning. No explanation, just randomly appeared in my account 2 days late. The IRS system is so broken rn.

WMR and transcript dates are never accurate anymore. They used to be but ever since COVID the whole system is messed up. I've had refunds come 3-4 days after the 846 date the last two years.

You should call the IRS. i kno it's a pain but i had the exact same issue and it turns out they sent it to the wrong account (one digit off). They fixed it but took another 2 weeks to get my $. Don't wait!

SoFi took 3 days to post my federal refund back in march even tho wmr said it was deposited. Their customer service told me large government deposits sometimes get held for verification🤬 keep checking your account tho it will show up

Have you checked your actual transcript to make sure there arent any other codes after the 846? Sometimes they schedule the deposit but then add a freeze code after.

Quick tip: did you check your account and routing number on your return? I had this happen and turns out I had entered one digit wrong on my routing number 🤦‍♀️ had to wait 3 weeks for a paper check

Contact your bank. sometimes they hold tax returns, especially if its a big amount. My credit union put a 3 day hold on mine for 'fraud prevention' or something stupid. they didn't even notify me!!

Side note: can we all just agree how f***ed up it is that were all constantly stressed and checking our accounts for OUR OWN MONEY that the government has been holding all year as an interest-free loan? And then they make us beg for it back and wonder why it's late. The whole system is designed to be this complicated 🤦‍♂️

Dude i just went thru this exact same thing last week. State came fast, fed was supposed to deposit wednesday. Checked transcript, had 846 code. Nothing came wednesday or thursday and i was freaking out. Finally on friday morning i wake up and boom, there it was. Just give it another day or two, im pretty sure you're fine.

Check to see if you had any offsets. If you owe student loans, child support, etc. they will take that out of your refund. Your transcript should show that but sometimes WMR doesn't catch up right away
