Anyone in FL with DDD 3/18 using SoFi received their refund yet?

So I got my DDD of 3/18 on my transcript last week. I bank with SoFi and usually they deposit 2 days early for direct deposits. I'm getting anxious checking my account every hour and still nothing. Anyone else in Florida with SoFi got their refund yet? Starting to worry something went wrong.

Connor Richards

I'm with SoFi too (in FL) and my DDD is also 3/18. Nothing in my account yet. From what I understand, the IRS releases the funds to banks 1-2 days before the official deposit date, but then it's up to the banks to process. I've had SoFi since 2022 and they've been pretty reliable with the 2-day early deposits, but tax refunds sometimes work differently. I'd expect to see it tomorrow, honestly. If nothing by Thursday morning, then I'd start to be concerned.

Thanks for replying! That eases my mind a bit. I'll try to be patient til tomorrow. Last year my refund came right on the DDD date so I was hoping for early this time.

SoFi is usually really good but tax refunds are weird. Last year mine came at like 3am on the actual DDD. The 2-day early thing doesn't always apply with IRS payments for some reason.

Yeahh the early deposit feature banks advertise is more for regular payroll deposits. Government stuff is different. I think its bcuz the treasury dept releases funds differently than employers do.

I was in the exact same boat last week with trying to understand when my refund would hit. After hours of reading confusing posts and conflicting info, I finally tried taxr.ai and it saved me so much headache! It explained exactly what my DDD meant, when SoFi would likely receive it, and even predicted the exact day it would post to my account (which was accurate!). Seriously, check out https://taxr.ai - it answers all these refund timing questions way better than randomly searching online.

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

It does wayyy more than just read the transcript! It actually explains everything in plain English, tells you what's happening with your specific refund, predicts timelines based on your bank, and shows you exactly what to expect next. Honestly it's insanely good! I use it every week during tax season just to check for updates. Total game changer compared to the guessing game I was playing before.

Not an ad, just sharing what worked for me! I was literally pulling my hair out trying to understand my transcript before I found it. But whatever, use it or don't πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I found a way to actually talk to someone at the IRS about my refund timing issues! After being on hold for hours and getting nowhere, I used Claimyr.com and got through to a real agent in like 20 minutes. The agent confirmed my refund was processing correctly and gave me the exact timing details for SoFi. Talking to that live agent was the best money I've ever spent - I've been stressing for weeks and finally got real answers instead of just guessing.

Wait how does this work? The IRS phone lines are impossible to get through

It's this service that basically navigates the IRS phone system for you and holds your place in line. When they get an agent, they call you and connect you. I was super skeptical but it actually worked and saved me literally hours of hold time. Just go to claimyr.com

I've used it twice. It's the only reason I was able to get my amended return processed after 11 months of waiting. Talking to a human at the IRS was the difference between waiting another year and getting it resolved in 2 weeks.

I'm in FL with Chime (not SoFi) and my DDD is 3/18 too. I got mine yesterday afternoon around 2:30pm. Chime usually deposits early. Maybe SoFi is just a bit slower with processing the IRS payments? I wouldn't worry yet - it's not even your official date.

Dont worry friend, my DDD was 3/11 and I bank with SoFi. Got it exactly on 3/11 at like 11am. They didn't do the early deposit thing with my tax refund either. Something about IRS funds being different than regular direct deposits. You'll get it either later today or tomorrow for sure!

Anyone else notice that tax refunds are showing up differently this year compared to previous years? My last two refunds hit my account 1 day before the DDD, but this year it was right on the DDD. I think the IRS changed something in their process.

Yeah the whole system seems different. My first refund came early but my amended return came exactly on DDD. No rhyme or reason to it πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

The IRS is a hot mess this year. I filed in January and STILL don't even have a DDD. Be grateful you at least have a date! 😭

Oof that sucks. Have you checked your transcript for any issues or flags? Sometimes there's codes that can tell you why there's a delay.

I cant even access my transcript online because they want a credit card account number for verification and I don't have any active credit cards 🀑 The system is broken

I'm not in Florida or with SoFi but wanted to add that you should check if your refund is being offset for any reason (back taxes, student loans, child support, etc). Sometimes the DDD shows up but then part or all of the refund gets diverted. You'd get a letter explaining this, but it might arrive after your DDD.

Zoe Wang

I don't think I should have any offsets. No student loans, no child support, and I've always paid my taxes on time. But I'll keep that in mind if it doesn't show up by Thursday. Thanks!

The IRS is absolutley USELESS this time of year. You call and cant get through. Website gives vague info. WMR tool barely works. And were supposed to just sit here and wait like its the 1980s. Our government is so behind the times its embarrassing.

For real! Other countries have fully automated tax systems where the govt just sends you what they think you owe, you approve it, and you're done. Here we're still filing papers and waiting months for a refund of OUR OWN MONEY 🀬

I have SoFi (although in TX not FL) and there's a specific time that tax refunds usually hit - between 12-2pm EST. That's been consistent for the past two years for me. So maybe check again after lunch?

Good to know! It's 10:30am here now so I'll check back after lunch. Fingers crossed!!

My friend works at a bank (not SoFi) and she says that sometimes the ACH transfers from the Treasury get delayed if there's a high volume of refunds being processed that day. Apparently, Monday and Tuesday are the busiest days for tax refund processing. So you might see it tomorrow instead.

Have u checked your transcript again to make sure the DDD hasn't changed? Sometimes they issue a DDD and then update it if there's a processing issue. Happened to me last year - had a DDD then it got pushed back a week for 'additional review' πŸ˜‘

I just checked and the DDD is still showing as 3/18. No changes or additional codes. Hopefully that means its still on track!

LPT: Stop checking so much, you'll drive yourself crazy 🀣 Set up notifications in your banking app and go touch some grass. Your money will come when it comes. I know it's hard when you're depending on that cash but refreshing your account won't make it arrive any faster!

Lol you're right. I need to chill. It's just that I'm planning to use this money for a down payment on a car I'm buying this weekend so I'm getting anxious about the timing.

Ah that makes sense then. Pro tip: call the dealership and explain the situation. They might be willing to hold the car for a few days if you show them proof of your tax refund coming. Worth a shot!

Just a reminder that the "Where's My Refund" tool on the IRS website updates overnight, so what you see in the morning is the most current status. If it still shows your DDD as 3/18 and says refund approved, you're good to go. But yeah SoFi can be hit or miss with the early deposit feature for government payments.

I waited 4 months for my refund last year and was at my wits end trying to figure out what was going on. The IRS website was useless. After trying everything, I used taxr.ai and it was mind blowing how much clearer everything became. It explained every code on my transcript, showed me the exact holdup, and even helped predict when I'd get my money. Seriously the best tax tool I've ever used - https://taxr.ai

Yeah the IRS SHOULD do a lot of things lol. But after 4 months of frustration and zero answers, I was happy to finally understand what was happening with my refund. The peace of mind alone was worth it. I'm using it again this year just to stay ahead of any issues.

Look for pending transactions in your SoFi account too, not just cleared deposits. Sometimes they show up there first for a day before fully posting to your available balance.

After 2 months of waiting for my tax refund last year and getting different answers from every source, I was at my breaking point. I finally got through to the IRS using Claimyr.com and the agent I spoke with fixed my issue in literally 10 minutes. Getting my refund unstuck was such a relief after weeks of stress. Talking to an agent got my refund released so fast compared to just waiting. claimyr.com if you're tired of the runaround.

100% real. I was skeptical too but it was the only way I could talk to a live agent. They navigate the phone tree and wait on hold, then call you when they reach an agent. Saved me hours of frustration.

Hey just a heads up - check that your bank account info is correct on your return! Last year I had the right account number but accidentally transposed two digits in the routing number. The IRS caught it but it delayed my refund by 3 weeks. You can verify this info on your transcript.

SoFi customer here. My experience is that they're actually NOT consistent with the early deposit thing for tax refunds specifically. Regular paychecks? Yes. Government payments? Hit or miss. Last year my fed refund came exactly on the DDD, not early.

That's good to know! Their marketing makes it sound like ALL direct deposits come early but I guess that's not the case.
