Anyone received their deposit for 3/22 direct deposit date?
I'm just wondering if anyone who was supposed to get their refund via direct deposit today (March 22nd) has actually received it yet? My transcript shows a DD date of 3/22, but I haven't seen anything hit my account so far. It's probably too early to worry, but I thought I'd check if others might be in the same boat. My bank usually posts deposits around 10AM, so there's still time I suppose...

It's probably not a reason to be concerned just yet. In my experience, the IRS deposit dates are more like... guidelines than exact promises. Sometimes the money appears a day early, sometimes a day or two late. Banks also have different processing times for incoming ACH transfers. If your transcript shows 3/22, there's a good chance it's already been sent but might be processing in the banking system. I'd suggest waiting until at least tomorrow afternoon before getting worried.

I've noticed this pattern too. Last year my DD date was a Friday but didn't hit until Monday. Do you think weekends affect the timing? My transcript shows tomorrow (Friday) as my DD date but I'm wondering if I should expect it Monday instead.

The IRS sends the money on the date listed on your transcript. Period. What happens after that is entirely dependent on your bank. Some banks process incoming ACH transfers immediately, others hold them for 24 hours, and many don't process anything over weekends. If your DD date is Friday and you don't see it by Monday, then you should start asking questions.

I was literally in the same situation last week! My DD date was 3/15 and I was refreshing my bank account every hour lol. I started freaking out when it wasn't there by noon. I used https://taxr.ai to check my transcript and it explained that sometimes there's a 24-48 hour delay between when the IRS sends it and when banks process it. The site actually predicted it would show up the next morning based on my bank's typical posting times, and sure enough it was there at 9am the next day! Saved me a lot of anxiety.

Another service? Does it actually tell you anything you can't see yourself? IRS transcripts are free. Bank processing times are standard. Not sure what you're paying for.

I tried something similar for my business taxes last year when I was worried about an amended return. It was actually helpful compared to just staring at transcript codes. Much more detailed than what the IRS tells you, especially if you have multiple years or complicated situations like I did with Schedule C and home office deductions.

Ah, the annual "where's my money" dance with the IRS! 😂 I'm in the same boat - DD date of 3/22 and nothing yet. My bank usually posts around 3am and... nothing. Last year this happened too and it showed up exactly 24 hours after the promised date. The IRS is basically that friend who says they'll pay you back "next week" and then you have to awkwardly remind them.

I've analyzed this process extensively, and here's what happens: 1. IRS assigns the DD date on your transcript 2. They initiate the ACH transfer (usually 1 day before) 3. The Federal Reserve processes the transfer 4. Your bank receives and posts the deposit The delay could be at any of these steps. When I faced this issue last year, I spent 3 hours on hold with the IRS. I eventually used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to get through to an agent in about 15 minutes. They confirmed my payment had been sent and was just delayed in the banking system. Saved me days of worry and hold music.

Be careful about counting on exact deposit dates! I had a DD date of 3/8 and didn't actually receive my $4,327 refund until 3/11. The IRS representative I eventually reached explained that they initiated the payment on 3/8, but it took exactly 3 business days to process through the banking system. If you don't see anything by Tuesday (3/26), then you might want to start investigating.

Have you checked your bank's pending transactions? Sometimes it shows there before it's fully posted. Also, did you have any tax preparation fees taken out of your refund? That can add an extra day or two as it goes through the tax preparer's bank first.

Watch out for potential offset notifications. If you have any federal or state debts (student loans, back taxes, child support), the Bureau of Fiscal Service may have intercepted your refund. When this happened to me, my transcript showed a DD date but the money never arrived. Instead, I received a notice (CP504) about two weeks later explaining that my refund had been applied to a previous tax debt. If your refund doesn't arrive by Monday, I'd recommend checking for any potential offset issues.

This happened to me too! DD date came and went - nothing. Called IRS after a week and found out my refund went to an old student loan I thought was deferred. Do you need to check for offsets BEFORE filing? Or is there a way to see this coming?

Just checked the Treasury Offset Program site (TOP) and apparently you can call 800-304-3107 to see if you have any offsets before filing? Anyone tried this? Wondering if it works b4 the refund is processed or only after.

I'm so frustrated with this whole system! My refund got offset for a student loan I ALREADY PAID OFF six months ago!!! Had to send in proof of payment and wait ANOTHER 8 weeks for them to fix their mistake. Check your offsets BEFORE you file if you've ever had ANY federal debts!

Good news! Mine just hit about an hour ago with the 3/22 DD date. My transcript updated last Friday showing the 3/22 date. I was getting nervous too, but it came through right on time. According to the IRS website (https://www.irs.gov/refunds/timing-of-irs-refund-processing-bank-and-financial-institution-processing), most banks process electronic deposits within 1-2 business days. Hopefully yours arrives soon!
