Anyone with DDD of 4/23 have a trace number yet??
I'm trying to track the progress of my refund and wanted to see where everyone else stands. Here's my situation step-by-step: 1. Got my direct deposit date (DDD) of 4/23 on my transcript last week 2. Still haven't seen the money hit my account 3. Checked my bank - nothing pending either 4. Trying to figure out if I should be concerned yet I know the IRS sometimes takes a few days after the DDD, but with the kids' summer activities coming up, I'm counting on this refund. Has anyone else with the same DDD seen a trace number in their account yet? I'm not sure if I should start worrying or if this is normal timing.

Don't panic yet! The DDD is just when the IRS releases the funds, not necessarily when it hits your account. 😅 Banks can take 1-5 business days to process after that. I was in the same boat last week - my DDD was 4/16 and the money finally showed up yesterday afternoon. The trace number usually appears on your bank statement after the deposit processes. If you don't see anything by Monday, then maybe start getting concerned.

But shouldn't it at least show as pending in my account by now? Why would the IRS give a specific date if they don't actually deposit it then?

I can confirm this timing is normal. My transcript showed DDD of 4/16, and the ACH trace number 0462XXX appeared exactly 3 business days later when the funds settled. The transaction code 846 on your transcript indicates the refund has been approved for release, but the banking ACH system operates independently from the IRS processing timeline.

Did you file with a tax preparer who takes their fees out of your refund? My DDD was exactly 4/23 too, but I had to wait exactly 48 hours longer because my refund went to my preparer's bank first, then to me. The trace number appeared at 9:42am on 4/25.

Check your transcript again. Look for code 846. That's your refund issued code. My DDD was yesterday. Still nothing. Called my bank. They said they don't see it pending. IRS system is slow this year. Too many returns at once. Could be Monday before we see anything.

I had the exact same issue with my 4/16 DDD. After waiting 5 business days with nothing showing up, I was getting really worried. I tried calling the IRS directly and got nowhere after hours of waiting. Then I used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got through to an agent in about 15 minutes. They confirmed my refund was actually sent on the DDD date and gave me the trace number so I could follow up with my bank. Such a relief to know it wasn't lost in the void!

Wait, you have to PAY to talk to the IRS?! That doesn't seem right! I'm already frustrated enough waiting for MY money, now I have to spend more just to find out where it is?? 😤

It's like paying for a fast pass at an amusement park instead of standing in the regular line for hours. I was skeptical too, but when you need answers NOW and not after spending your entire day on hold, it's worth it. Time is money, especially when you're waiting for thousands in refund dollars.

I used this service last week after my DDD passed with no deposit. The IRS representative informed me that my financial institution had rejected the initial ACH transfer due to an account verification issue. This allowed me to immediately contact my bank to resolve the situation rather than waiting weeks for a paper check to be automatically issued. The technical term they used was "R17 rejection code" which I wouldn't have known about otherwise.

I had a 4/16 DDD and just got my deposit yesterday morning. I was checking my transcript daily and noticed the trace number appeared about 2 days before the money actually hit my account. If you have access to your transcript, look for a long string of numbers next to your 846 code... that's your trace number. It might be there even if the money hasn't reached your bank yet. I'm always a bit anxious about these things, especially with all the processing delays this year.

Have you tried calling your bank specifically? My DDD was April 9th, and I didn't see anything until April 12th. When I called my bank on April 11th, they could see it was pending in their system but hadn't posted to my account yet. Ask them to check for pending ACH deposits - sometimes they can see it before you can on your app or online banking.

Just to clarify something important - a "trace number" and a "DDD" are different things. The Direct Deposit Date (DDD) is when the IRS schedules your refund to be sent. The trace number is the unique identifier for that transaction that appears on your transcript (usually a 15-digit number). If you're looking at the Where's My Refund tool on IRS.gov, you won't see the trace number there - you need to access your actual transcript online through the IRS website. Are you looking at the right document?
