Anyone with SoFi showing DDD of 3/19 actually received their deposit?

Filed my taxes back in early February and was showing a DDD for 3/19 on my transcript. I bank with SoFi and still nothing has hit my account yet. Usually my tax refunds come through a few days early with them. Anyone else using SoFi with the same DDD actually get their money yet? Starting to get worried since I really need this refund to cover some unexpected bills that came up.

The DDD (direct deposit date) is the date the IRS is scheduled to release your funds, not necessarily when your bank will make them available. While some banks like SoFi are known to release funds early when they receive the pending deposit notification, they're not obligated to do so. A few things to check: 1. Verify your account info is correct on your return 2. Check if your refund was adjusted (this would show on your transcript) 3. Check if you had any offsets or debts that would reduce your refund 4. SoFi might be processing a large volume of tax deposits right now If today is your actual DDD of 3/19, give it until end of day. If nothing arrives by tomorrow, I'd contact SoFi directly to ask if they see a pending deposit. If they don't, you may need to call the IRS refund hotline at 800-829-1954.

Thanks for the detailed information. All my account info is correct and I didn't have any offsets. I'll wait until tomorrow and then contact SoFi if nothing shows up.

Good luck calling the IRS lol. I was on hold for 3 hours last time and then they hung up on me. 🤡

This is solid advice. I'd just add that you can check your account transcript on the IRS website to see if there are any issues or updates.

For sure. Transcripts are the best way to see what's actually happening. You can use taxr.ai to help decode all those confusing codes too - saved me hours of research when I had a similar issue.

Hey there! I was in the exact same situation a few weeks ago. Super frustrating trying to figure out why my refund wasn't showing up. I ended up using taxr.ai which helped me understand what all those confusing transcript codes actually meant. It showed me that there was a verification hold I didn't even know about! Once I knew the real issue, I was able to get it resolved quickly. Seriously, I'd recommend checking it out (https://taxr.ai) rather than trying to guess what's happening or piecing together info from forum posts. Saved me so much time and stress!

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

It's WAY more than just reading your transcript! It analyzes all those weird codes and actually explains what they mean in plain English. It showed me exactly why my refund was delayed and what to do about it. Honestly it's been a game changer - I use it for all my tax stuff now. So much better than trying to decipher IRS jargon myself or waiting on hold for hours.

does it cost anything? seems sus that everyone is suddenly talking about this

There is a cost, but it was completely worth it for me. I spent WEEKS trying to figure out what was happening with my refund before using it. The time and stress I saved was priceless tbh. Think about how much your time is worth vs sitting on hold with the IRS for hours or trying to decode those cryptic transcripts yourself 💯

I've got SoFi too with DDD of 3/19. Nothing yet but in the past they've sometimes released my funds at weird times - once got a deposit at like 8pm. I'll update this thread when mine hits.

After waiting FOREVER to get my refund (DDD was 2/28), I finally broke down and used that Claimyr calling app (claimyr.com) to actually talk to a real human at the IRS. Got a callback within 30 mins and found out there was a flag on my account that was holding everything up. The agent removed it while I was on the phone and my deposit showed up 2 days later. Best money I've spent all year considering I was about to lose my mind waiting.

this is an ad right? nobodys getting thru to the IRS that fast lol

Not an ad dude. I was skeptical too but was desperate after waiting almost a month past my DDD. Their system basically navigates the IRS phone tree and holds your place in line. When an agent is available, they call you back. Saved me from having to sit on hold for hours. Believe what you want, but it worked for me 🤷‍♂️

I can confirm this works. Used it last tax season when my refund was 3 months late. Having a real person look at your account makes all the difference.

How did you know there was a flag on your account? Was it something you could see on your transcript?

0 coins

Rita Jacobs

Nope, that's the thing - there was nothing on my transcript that showed any issues. Only found out when I talked to the agent. Apparently some verification flag that wasn't visible to me. That's why actually talking to someone helped.

I have SoFi. My DDD was 3/18 and it hit my account yesterday afternoon. Usually they're early but this time it was right on time. Check to make sure you don't have any offset issues that could be delaying it.

the IRS is such a joke this year. I kno ppl who filed in january and still havent gotten their refund. meanwhile my sister filed last week and already got hers. makes no sense.

The system is completely broken. I work in accounting and even I can't make sense of how they prioritize returns.

This is why I always file in October with an extension. Avoid the rush and never have issues. 🧠

Little tip: if you check "Where's My Refund" on the IRS site and it shows approved, SoFi usually gets it within 24-48 hours even if it's before your DDD. That's been my experience the last three years. If Where's My Refund still says processing, then you might be waiting until the actual DDD or later.

Where's My Refund has been showing approved for over a week now, that's why I'm getting nervous. But sounds like from other comments SoFi might just be processing a bunch of deposits today.

Don't have SoFi but had same DDD of 3/19 with Chase. Got mine yesterday afternoon. The IRS seems to be releasing batches at different times to different banks.

Have you checked your transcript again recently? sometimes the DDD changes and they don't notify you. I had a DDD of 2/15 that silently changed to 3/1 because of some random verification issue.

Amun-Ra Azra

Just checked and it still shows 3/19. No codes indicating any issues either.

Went through this exact headache last year. Called the IRS over and over with no luck getting through. Finally discovered taxr.ai which helped me understand why my refund was delayed (had a code 570 that I didn't understand). This year I used it right away to make sure everything was on track with my refund. Could help you figure out if there's an actual issue or if it's just normal processing.

Are you getting an advance loan from a tax preparer like H&R Block? Those sometimes cause delays with SoFi specifically because of how they process the transfers. Also check if your state refund might be coming at the same time - sometimes they get bunched together.

Amun-Ra Azra

No, I filed directly through FreeTaxUSA. And my state isn't processing refunds until next month according to their website.

Honestly the irs is playing games with our money. I'm sure they hold our refunds on purpose so they can make interest off it. my tinfoil hat is firmly ON 👽

This isn't even conspiracy theory territory anymore - it's literally what they do. They know most people won't follow up or fight for their money.

You joke but there was actually a report that showed the IRS made over $1B in interest from delayed refunds last year 👀

After waiting almost 3 months for my refund last year, I started using claimyr.com to get through to the IRS this year. As soon as my return was accepted, I called to make sure everything was in order. The agent confirmed everything looked good and my deposit should arrive on schedule. Talking to a real person at the IRS gave me so much peace of mind - worth every penny not to stress for weeks wondering what's happening with my money.

Wait you can just call and ask about your refund status? I thought they only take calls if there's an actual problem?

0 coins

-

Mae Bennett

They'll answer general status questions, and if they see any potential issues, they can often fix them right away rather than waiting for the automated system to flag it weeks later. The key is actually getting through to a human, which is almost impossible without some help these days.

SoFi has been weird with tax deposits this year. My wifes DDD was 3/1 and it didn't hit until 3/3 which is unusual for them. They're normally early. I think they're just swamped with processing.

I stopped trying to understand the IRS years ago. their systems make no sense, their timeframes are made up, and the rules seem to change every year. all you can do is wait and hope for the best. good luck!
