DEO waiting week payment - do paper checks include the $600 federal boost?
Just got my DEO waiting week approved, but I'm confused about how I'll get paid. Someone at the career center told me the waiting week is paid by paper check instead of direct deposit. Is that true? And what about the federal $600 boost for that week? Will that be included in the paper check or paid separately through direct deposit? Anyone know how this works? I've been waiting 3 weeks for my claim to process and finally got approved yesterday. Just trying to figure out when and how I'll actually see the money.

•Really? The lady at CareerSource told me it was always paper checks for the waiting week. So confusing! Did you get your federal money the same way too?

The information you received is partially correct, but it depends on your specific situation. Here's how it actually works: 1. If you have direct deposit set up in CONNECT, your waiting week payment will typically come through direct deposit just like your regular benefits 2. However, if there was an issue with your direct deposit information OR if this is your very first payment from DEO, they sometimes default to a paper check for security reasons 3. As for the federal $600 supplement - that payment should come through the same payment method as your regular benefits, but it's processed separately and often arrives 2-3 days after your state benefit You can verify your payment method by logging into CONNECT and checking your payment history or calling DEO directly to confirm.

The $600 federal supplement ended years ago. Currently, there is no federal supplement to unemployment in Florida. You will only receive your regular state benefit amount, typically between $125-$375 per week depending on your previous earnings. Regarding payment methods - your waiting week will be paid the same way as your other weeks (direct deposit or Way2Go debit card, whichever you selected). Paper checks are only used in rare situations when there's a problem with your selected payment method.

•Oh, I think I misunderstood something major then. I thought they were still adding the federal money to claims. Thanks for clearing that up! Guess I need to budget for a lot less money than I was expecting... 😞

My waiting week came on my way2go card just like all my other payments. Took 2 days longer tho for some reason. And yeah the $600 thing ended like forever ago lol

DEO is IMPOSSIBLE to get accurate info from!!! When I was on unemployment last month, I called 47 times in one day and couldn't get through. The website is useless too - kept saying my payments were on hold but wouldn't tell me why. I tried chat, email, everything. Finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual human after weeks of trying. They have a system that keeps calling DEO for you until you get through. Saved me hours of redial hell. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj that shows how it works. The DEO rep told me there hasn't been federal supplements since like 2021. And she confirmed all my payments come through direct deposit, even the waiting week. So much misinformation out there!!

•I heard about that service but wasn't sure if it was legit or not... did it actually work for you?

•Yeah it did. TBH I was skeptical at first but I was desperate after wasting literally days trying to get through. The hold music was driving me crazy lol. They got me through to DEO in about 40 minutes when I couldn't get through AT ALL on my own.

I remember when I first applied for benefits after losing my bartending job, I got so much wrong information from people who thought they knew how the system worked. Even the DEO website is confusing! Best advice is to just check your CONNECT account daily and watch for payments. BTW the waiting week used to come separately but now it's just processed like any other week. My daughter just went through this last month and everything came via direct deposit exactly as she set it up.

omg the DEO is such a mess!!! i went through this nightmare last year and i swear every person tells u something different. one rep told me paper checks, another said direct deposit, and then when i finally got paid it went to the way2go card i never even activated!!! took me 3 weeks to figure that out 🤦♀️ honestly just keep checking your connect account under the payment history section and it'll show u where they sent it. and yea the $600 thing is LONG gone sadly

•Thanks everyone for clearing this up. I'll just keep checking my CONNECT account for updates. No $600 boost is disappointing but at least I know what to expect now!
