Reapplied for DEO benefits in new quarter but only got 1 week - will I still get $600 federal supplement?

So I had to reapply for unemployment for the new benefit quarter since my original claim expired. I just got approved but only for 1 week of state benefits because I started working part-time right after that. I'm confused about 2 things: First, will I still get the $600 federal supplement for that one week even though I'm working now? Second, I'm pretty sure DEO still owes me one week of the $600 federal supplement from my previous claim that I never received. Anyone know how to get that missing payment? The CONNECT system is so frustrating to navigate!

yep u get the 600 even for 1 week as long as u get at least $1 of regular unemployment. not sure about the back pay tho

Thanks! Do you know if there's a way to see if they've processed the $600 payment separately? My CONNECT account only shows the state benefit amount.

I had something similar happen when I went back to work in January. For the back pay situation, you need to specifically request it through the CONNECT message center. Select 'Missing Federal Payment' as the subject. They won't automatically pay it if there was an issue with the original payment. Make sure you include exact dates and your claim ID number. For your new claim, yes you'll get the $600 for any week you received at least $1 in regular benefits, even if it's just one week before returning to work. The payments are processed separately though - state benefits usually hit first, then the federal supplement comes 2-3 days later.

This is correct info. To add on about the previous week's missing $600 - if it's been more than 6 weeks since you should have received it, you might want to try calling DEO directly. The message center sometimes doesn't get responses for weeks. I was in a similar situation trying to get a missing payment and was getting nowhere until I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to a live agent. Saved me hours of redial hell and the agent was able to see exactly why my $600 payment was held up (ID verification issue) and fixed it while I was on the phone. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj

THE DEO IS DELIBERATELY MAKING THIS CONFUSING!!! I had 3 weeks of missing $600 payments and had to fight for MONTHS to get them. They kept saying they 'reviewed' my claim but did NOTHING! You NEED to specifically tell them the exact weeks you're missing payments for and keep following up EVERY WEEK! Don't let them get away with keeping YOUR MONEY!!!

While I understand your frustration, I don't think DEO is deliberately withholding payments. Their systems are just outdated and overwhelmed. I work in HR and deal with this regularly - when a claim spans two benefit years or quarters, there are often processing delays with the federal supplement because it has to be manually reviewed when a new claim is established. OP - make sure when you contact them that you specify the exact week ending date (Saturday date) of the missing payment. The system tracks everything by week ending dates, not by when you claimed or when you expected payment.

I had this exact issue last month. If you're on the new quarter, check if your 'monetary determination' amount changed. If it did, sometimes they have to manually link the old federal supplement records to your new claim. For the one week you're eligible in the new quarter - yes, you'll get the $600 federal supplement automatically (it usually comes 2-3 days after the state portion). For the back pay from the previous quarter, you need to call and have them investigate. Try calling at 7:29am exactly when their system opens - that worked for me after trying for days.

Update: I finally got through to DEO this morning! The agent confirmed I'll get the $600 for my one week on the new claim, and they found my missing payment from the last quarter. Apparently it was held up because I had answered a work search question incorrectly (even though work search was waived at that time, go figure). They're releasing both payments now. Thanks everyone for your help! Special thanks to whoever recommended Claimyr - totally worth it to avoid the busy signals and disconnects.

That's great news! Glad you got it sorted out. Did they give you any timeframe for when you'll actually receive the payments? In my experience, once they release a held payment it still takes 3-5 business days to hit your account.

My sister got into the same situation but they never paid her the back $600. Something about the date she returned to work messing up the system. Took her doing a formal appeal!!! What a nightmare this whole system is. Glad you got yours fixed though.

Oh no, I hope she eventually got her money! The agent told me to expect the payments within 48 hours, so fingers crossed. The whole process is so confusing.
