When will DEO start paying the extra $300 weekly FPUC benefit?
I just got approved for regular unemployment last week (finally!!) and received my first payment of $275. I heard there's supposed to be an extra $300 per week from the federal government on top of the state benefit, but it's not showing up in my CONNECT account or on my Way2Go card. Does anyone know when the DEO will start distributing this additional money? Is there something special I need to do to qualify for it? This is my first time ever on unemployment and I'm really counting on that extra money to cover rent next month.

There is NO extra $300 federal supplement anymore!! That was from the pandemic programs that ended years ago (FPUC). Florida only pays the regular $275 max now. So frustrating that DEO website still has outdated info that confuses people.

•Wait, seriously?? My neighbor just told me last week that she was getting an extra $300. Now I'm freaking out because I budgeted based on getting $575/week not $275. Are you 100% sure about this?

The previous commenter is correct. The $300 FPUC (Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation) supplement ended back in 2021. Currently, Florida only offers the standard state benefit which maxes out at $275 weekly. If your neighbor is claiming to receive $300 extra, they might be confusing it with something else or misremembering from when they collected during the pandemic. There are no federal supplements to unemployment in 2025.

Just to clarify for everyone - there is NO current FPUC program providing extra $300 payments. The only benefit available now is Florida's regular Reemployment Assistance (RA) with a maximum of $275/week. You must complete 5 work search activities each week to continue receiving benefits (unless you have a return-to-work date within 6 weeks). Make sure you're claiming your weeks on time through CONNECT to avoid payment delays.

I went through this same confusion last month! I thought I'd be getting extra money too based on old articles I read online. Florida's $275/week maximum is TERRIBLE compared to other states. Can barely cover groceries, let alone rent. The system is designed to be frustrating so people give up. I spent 3 weeks trying to get through to someone at DEO to confirm this and got nowhere - disconnected calls, busy signals, no callbacks.

•That's so depressing... how am I supposed to survive on $275/week? That doesn't even cover half my rent. Have you found any luck getting through to DEO about anything? I also have questions about how long I can receive benefits.

I had the same issue contacting DEO last month about my work search requirements. After days of trying, I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got through to a DEO agent in 30 minutes instead of waiting for days. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj. The agent confirmed there are NO additional federal supplements currently - just the regular state benefit of up to $275/week. They also helped me understand exactly how long my benefit period would last.

•I've heard about Claimyr but wasn't sure if it was legitimate. Did it actually work for getting through to a real person? The DEO phone system is absolutely infuriating.

•Yes, it did work! I was skeptical too but was desperate after trying for days. Got connected to an actual DEO agent who answered all my questions about my claim. So much better than the automatic disconnects I kept getting when calling directly.

Everyone's right that the $300 FPUC ended years ago, but here's something important to know - your regular benefits are 100% TAXABLE! If you don't have taxes withheld now (there's an option in CONNECT to do this), you'll owe the IRS next year. Also, make absolutely sure you're doing your 5 work searches each week and documenting them properly. DEO has been doing more audits lately and requesting proof of work searches. If you can't provide it, they'll hit you with an overpayment.

•Thank you for mentioning the tax thing - I had no idea! I'll check my CONNECT account to make sure I'm having taxes withheld. And I've been keeping screenshots of all my job applications just in case. This is all so complicated.

•To clarify, there is no pending legislation in Florida that would increase unemployment benefits or add supplemental payments at this time. While federal proposals occasionally appear, nothing is currently moving forward that would affect Florida claimants in the near future. The $275 maximum weekly benefit has remained unchanged for over 20 years, despite inflation.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I'm really disappointed to learn there's no extra $300. My neighbor must have been talking about something else or remembering from the pandemic. I've been playing around with my CONNECT account and found where to have taxes withheld (thanks for that tip!). I've also been keeping detailed records of my work searches - applying to at least 7 jobs per week even though only 5 are required. I'm going to try to get through to DEO to ask about training opportunities that might extend my benefits. Thanks again for all the helpful info!
