Where to see the $300 extra weekly benefits on DEO CONNECT? Only getting regular payments
I started my unemployment claim 3 weeks ago and I've only been receiving the regular weekly benefit amount ($315). I thought there was supposed to be an extra $300 weekly benefit too? I can't find this extra payment anywhere in my CONNECT account. Does it show up separately online or do I have to call the automated line to check on it? I've looked everywhere on the CONNECT website but only see my regular payments. Sorry if this is a dumb question - I'm completely new to this unemployment process and it's really confusing.

The extra $300 federal benefits ended back in September 2021. That was a temporary pandemic program called FPUC. Florida only pays the regular state benefit amount now (max $375/week). There aren't any extra weekly federal supplements anymore unfortunately.

•Oh no really?? My neighbor told me last week she was getting extra money! I had no idea those benefits ended. That makes this so much harder...thanks for letting me know.

There is no extra $300 payment anymore. That was part of pandemic unemployment assistance and ended years ago. Florida only pays regular state unemployment (Reemployment Assistance) now, which maxes out at $375 per week. You won't see any federal supplement on CONNECT or the phone system because it doesn't exist anymore. Your neighbor is probably confused or thinking of something else.

•Thank you for explaining! That sucks to hear. I was counting on that extra money. Do you know if there's any way to get my weekly benefit amount increased? $315 is not enough to cover bills.

I went through the same confusion when I lost my job in 2023! My friend kept telling me about all these extra benefits, but they were talking about the old COVID benefits. Those ended years ago. Florida's regular unemployment is pretty low compared to other states. What you're getting now is all there is unfortunately. Check your CONNECT messages section though - sometimes there are other programs you might qualify for based on your situation.

•I'll check the messages section, thanks! Really disappointed about this. I don't know how anyone survives on just the regular amount.

If ur having trouble viewing ALL ur benefits or need to talk to someone at DEO about increasing ur weekly amount, good luck getting through on the phone!!! I tried for WEEKS straight and it was either busy signal or disconnected me after waiting 2+ hours. FINALLY i tried Claimyr (claimyr.com) after my cousin recommended it. They got me connected to a real DEO agent in under 30 min. They have a video showing how it works here https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj. Not sure if they can help with getting more money but at least you can talk to someone who can answer questions about what youre eligible for.

•Just to be clear - no DEO agent can increase your benefit amount beyond what the system calculated based on your previous earnings. Your weekly benefit amount is fixed based on a formula using your base period wages. No extra federal money exists now, so calling DEO won't change that part.

DEO rep here - I want to clarify some things. The extra federal supplements ($600 then $300) from the FPUC program ended in September 2021. What you're receiving now is just regular state Reemployment Assistance. Your weekly benefit amount (WBA) is calculated by taking your highest quarter earnings in the base period and dividing by 26, up to a maximum of $375. This amount is fixed once determined and won't change during your benefit year. If you're getting $315, that means your previous earnings placed you near the top of the scale but not at the maximum.

•Thank you for the detailed explanation! That makes sense. Is there any way to appeal the $315 amount? I was making about $42,000 a year before being laid off.

You can file an appeal for wage reconsideration if you believe there's an error in how your WBA was calculated. However, with annual earnings of $42,000, your quarterly earnings would be roughly $10,500, which divided by 26 equals about $403. Since Florida caps benefits at $375/week, you would likely already be at or near the maximum. Appeals must be filed within 20 days of your monetary determination. Check your CONNECT inbox for that notice and its date.

•Thanks again! I just checked and my monetary determination letter shows all my wages correctly. I guess $315 is all I get then. This system is so inadequate!

•That's so unfair! I don't understand how they expect people to survive on this. My rent alone is $1200!

Make sure you're doing all your work searches (5 per week) and claiming your weeks on time! If you miss claiming a week, you don't get paid for it - I learned that the hard way. Also, DEO is really strict about the work search requirements now compared to during COVID. They're doing more audits and checking if job contacts are legitimate. Just wanted to mention that since you said you're new to the system.

•Thanks for the reminder! I've been keeping detailed records of all my job applications. Is there any specific format they prefer for documenting work searches?

When you claim weeks in CONNECT, they'll ask you to enter the work search details - company name, date of contact, method of contact (online/in-person/phone), result, etc. But I also keep my own spreadsheet with more details like job posting links, confirmation emails, contact info, etc. If they audit you, having those extra details really helps. Some people take screenshots of job applications too. Better safe than sorry!

•That's great advice! I'll start keeping a spreadsheet with all those details. I definitely don't want to risk losing my benefits because of documentation issues.
