DEO vs PUA payment posting confusion - different deposit schedules?

I'm totally confused about my benefit payments. I recently qualified for both regular state unemployment (DEO) and some kind of federal assistance (I think it's PUA?). My CONNECT account shows both were processed on Monday, but only the DEO payment hit my bank account today (Thursday). The rep I finally got through to mentioned something about different posting schedules, with state money coming first and federal taking longer? Has anyone else experienced this? Should I be worried the federal portion got lost somewhere? It's a substantial amount that I really need for rent next week.

I'm pretty sure you're confusing benefit types... PUA (Pandemic Unemployment Assistance) ended years ago. What you're probably referring to is either FPUC or PEUC, but those pandemic programs all ended back in 2021. DEO doesn't issue both state and federal benefits anymore - it's just regular Reemployment Assistance now. Are you looking at old payment history maybe?

Oh gosh, maybe I am mixing things up! I just started my claim last month after my company downsized. The CONNECT system shows two different payment types - one says "Regular UC" and the other says something about an "Additional Credit" with a different transaction number. The DEO agent wasn't super clear when I asked about it.

You're probably seeing a retroactive payment or adjustment. Florida DEO sometimes issues multiple payments when they're catching up on your claim or making corrections. If CONNECT shows both as processed, they'll typically post to your account within 1-5 business days depending on your bank. They don't always arrive on the same day even when processed together. I'd wait until early next week before worrying - bank processing times vary a lot.

this happens ALL the time with my payments. sometimes they come same day sometimes 3 days apart. my credit union always holds the 2nd payment longer for some reason. so annoying!!

What you're experiencing is normal. DEO processes different payment types separately, even though they might show the same processing date in CONNECT. If one payment hit your account today, the other will likely follow within 2-3 business days. This happens because they're processed through different payment batches, even though they're both from Florida's unemployment system. Just to clarify some confusion in other responses: Florida no longer has PUA (that was a pandemic program), but they do sometimes issue multiple payment types for regular claims - like if you had waiting week credits, retroactive payments, or adjustments to your weekly benefit amount.

Thank you so much for clarifying! That makes perfect sense. I'll stop panicking and give it a few more days. The CONNECT system is so confusing for first-timers like me.

My wife gets her payments split like this too. Drives her crazy! One part comes Wednesday, the other Friday. Every. Single. Time. Been this way since she started her claim in January.

The DEO system is SO frustrating. I had similar issues last year and could never get anyone on the phone to explain why payments were splitting. I finally got through using Claimyr (claimyr.com) - they connected me to a DEO agent in about 20 minutes after I'd spent weeks trying. There's a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj The agent explained that even though payments show processed on the same day in CONNECT, they get batched differently depending on payment type. Some banks also hold certain government deposits longer than others.

It's weirdly reassuring to hear I'm not alone in this confusion! My second payment did finally arrive this morning. Definitely agree they should explain this better on the website.

For anyone else finding this thread later: This is a common occurrence with Florida DEO payments. Different payment types (regular weekly benefits, back payments, adjustments, etc.) may show the same processing date in CONNECT but typically post to bank accounts on different schedules. This isn't a glitch - it's just how their system processes different payment batches. Tips for new claimants: 1. Allow 2-5 business days for all payments to arrive 2. Check your CONNECT payment history for accurate processing dates 3. Keep track of which payments you've received vs. what's showing as processed 4. If payments don't arrive after 5 business days, then contact DEO

Also worth mentioning that if you opt for the Way2Go debit card instead of direct deposit, the payments often post faster AND simultaneously. The tradeoff is dealing with that awful card system instead of getting it directly to your bank.
