DEO payment schedule changed from weekly to biweekly and now completely inconsistent - what's happening?
I'm really confused about my DEO payment schedule lately. For the first month, my unemployment benefits were coming in like clockwork every Tuesday ($875/week). Then without any notification, they switched to biweekly payments of $1,750. Now everything's a mess - I got absolutely nothing two weeks ago, then randomly received $875 last Wednesday, and now this week there's no payment again. My CONNECT account still shows my claim as active and I've completed all my work search requirements (the full 5 activities each week). Has DEO changed their payment schedule? Is anyone else experiencing these weird payment patterns? I'm really stressing because my rent is due next week and I can't plan my budget with these unpredictable payments.

This sounds like you might have some pending adjudication issues on your claim. When DEO puts weeks under review or has questions about your eligibility, they'll hold payments until those issues are resolved. Check your CONNECT account under the 'Determination, Pending Issues and Decision Summary' section to see if there are any pending fact-finding or eligibility questions. Also, look for any messages in your inbox that might require a response. Sometimes they need additional information but don't clearly notify you.

•Thanks for the reply. I checked my account and don't see anything under pending issues, but there IS a message from last month that says "Your work search record has been selected for review" that I totally missed! Do you think that's why my payments are so inconsistent?

same thing happened to my sister!! she got paid random amounts at random times for like 3 weeks, then nothing for 2 weeks, then boom all the missing money showed up. DEO never explained why tho

•Did she do anything specific to get the missing payments? Should I try calling them or just wait it out?

Listen, this is EXACTLY how DEO operates. They randomly hold payments without bothering to tell you why, make you GUESS what's wrong, then expect you to jump through hoops to fix problems THEY CREATED!! I've been dealing with this system for 5 months and it's ALWAYS some new problem. Check your "Issues and Determinations" section because that's where they hide all the reasons they're messing with your money. And good luck actually getting someone on the phone - I've called 27 TIMES in one day without getting through!!

I had a similar issue last month. The DEO was randomly holding some of my payments while processing others. After some digging, I found out they were reviewing my work search requirements for specific weeks, and those were the weeks with delayed payments. You mentioned you got a notice about work search review - that's almost certainly the cause. They review random weeks throughout your claim period to verify you're completing all 5 required job search activities. What I recommend is uploading any documentation you have for your work search activities for the weeks where payments were missed. Screenshots of job applications, confirmation emails, etc. Then try calling them to explain you've provided the documentation. If you're struggling to get through on the phone, I finally had success using Claimyr (claimyr.com) - they have a system that helps you get through to a DEO agent without spending all day redialing. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj. It was worth it for me because I got my issue resolved in one day instead of waiting weeks for DEO to review my case.

•Thank you so much for the detailed explanation. I'm going to upload all my work search documentation right now. I've been taking screenshots of all my applications just in case, so hopefully that helps. I'll check out that Claimyr service too - at this point I just need to talk to someone and get this sorted out ASAP.

•This is a good point. Your claim could be active but individual weeks might be held for various reasons. Make sure you've claimed all your weeks properly and answered all the certifying questions correctly. A single mistake on the certification questionnaire can delay payment for that week.

When I had inconsistent payments like that, it turned out I had answered one of the weekly certification questions differently than usual. I accidentally clicked 'yes' on the question about whether I refused any work when I meant to click 'no'. That triggered an automatic hold on that payment until they reviewed it. Double-check your weekly certifications to make sure you answered all questions correctly. Also, check if there are any fact-finding questionnaires you need to complete - those can be easy to miss in the CONNECT system since they don't always send email notifications.

•I just went through all my weekly certifications and I don't think I made any mistakes, but maybe I did on one week without realizing it. I noticed on the weeks where payment was held, there's a status that says "Pending Quality Review" - does anyone know what that means specifically?

"Pending Quality Review" is DEO-speak for "we're going to randomly audit your claim and make you wait for your money while we take our sweet time checking things." They do this to a certain percentage of claims each week. The ONLY way to get it resolved quickly is to actually speak to someone. Otherwise, you'll be waiting WEEKS for them to get around to reviewing your documentation. The whole system is DESIGNED to be frustrating so people give up!!

•That gives me hope! I'm going to try calling tomorrow first thing in the morning. Did you call the main number or is there a special line for payment issues?

Update us after you call them. What likely happened is that your claim was flagged for random work search verification, which is why you saw that message about your work search record being selected for review. When this happens, they typically hold payment for the weeks being verified until they complete their review or until you speak with an agent who can verify your documentation on the spot. Also, I noticed something in your original post - the amount you mentioned ($875/week) is higher than Florida's maximum weekly benefit amount of $375. Are you sure you're not including the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation that ended in September 2021? Current Florida DEO payments wouldn't include any extra federal money.

•You're right about the amount - I was including what they're taking out for taxes and child support payments in my calculation. The base amount is $375/week but I only get $295 after deductions, and had mixed up the numbers with my previous job's partial pay. Thank you for pointing that out! I'll definitely update after I call.

Based on everything in this thread, it sounds like your payments are inconsistent because: 1. Your claim was randomly selected for work search verification (that notice you missed) 2. The weeks showing "Pending Quality Review" are being held until that verification is complete 3. The weeks that were paid normally weren't part of the review period Your best course of action is to: 1. Upload all work search documentation for the unpaid weeks 2. Contact DEO directly to explain you've provided the documentation 3. Ask them to review and release the held payments The DEO system can be frustrating but usually these verification issues get resolved once you can speak with someone directly. Let us know how it goes!

•I finally got through to DEO this morning after trying for two hours! You were exactly right - they had randomly selected weeks 8-10 of my claim for work search verification, and those were the weeks with delayed/missing payments. The agent reviewed my documentation while I was on the phone and released all my held payments! She said I should see the money in 2-3 business days. Thank you all for your help figuring this out!
