Missing unemployment direct deposit from DEO - only received partial payment
Has anyone dealt with missing payments from DEO? My CONNECT account showed I was approved for two weeks of benefits ($700 total), but only $350 hit my bank account yesterday. My payment history in CONNECT shows both weeks as 'paid' with the same processing date. I've been trying to call DEO for 3 days but can't get through. Is there a way to see a detailed breakdown of payments beyond what CONNECT shows? Should I file some kind of payment dispute with DEO or just keep trying to get someone on the phone? Really stressing because I need that money for rent this weekend.

•I've been checking obsessively. It's been 3 days since the first deposit and nothing else has come through. Just weird because CONNECT shows both weeks processed on the same day.

This happened to me in February!!! The CONNECT system was showing both payments as processed but only one actually came through. I spent TWO WEEKS trying to get ahold of someone at DEO. They kept disconnecting me or I'd be on hold for hours and then get hung up on. When I finally got through, they said there was a 'processing error' and they had to manually release the second payment. Took another week to actually get the money. The whole system is a JOKE - they don't care that people are waiting on money for bills!

•Ugh that's exactly what I was afraid of. Did they at least backpay you for the missing week once you got through to someone?

•Yeah they did eventually pay it, but there was no interest or anything for their mistake. Just ridiculous we have to fight so hard for our own money!

I work with unemployment claims frequently, and this is unfortunately a common issue. What's happening is that one of your payments likely has a hold that wasn't properly reflected in your CONNECT account. Here's what to do: 1. First, double-check your Payment History section in CONNECT and look at the status of each individual week. Sometimes a week can show as 'paid' initially but actually have a hidden issue. 2. Look in your Determination/Pending Issues section to see if there's any new items there. 3. Contact DEO directly - this is really the only way to resolve payment discrepancies. I know the phone lines are frustrating, but keep trying different times of day. Early morning (7:30-8:00am) tends to have shorter wait times. 4. You can also try sending a message through the CONNECT portal under 'Contact Us' specifically mentioning the missing payment amount and the weeks it covers.

•Thank you for the detailed advice. I checked Determination/Pending Issues and there's nothing new there. Everything appears clean on my account which makes this even more confusing. I'll keep trying to call early morning.

I had something similar last month but it turned out one of my payments was sent to my old bank account even though I had updated my direct deposit info. Did you change your banking info recently? Maybe check with your old bank if you did.

•I haven't changed my banking info in over a year, so that shouldn't be the issue. But good point to consider for others!

If you're having trouble getting through to DEO, try using Claimyr. I was in the same situation with missing payments last month and was going crazy trying to reach someone. The Claimyr service got me connected to a real DEO agent in about 20 minutes after I'd been trying for days on my own. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj The DEO agent was able to see that my second payment was stuck in processing and they pushed it through while I was on the phone. The money showed up the next day. You can check them out at claimyr.com - seriously saved me so much frustration.

•does this really work? seems sketchy to pay someone just to make a phone call

•It actually does work - I was skeptical too. But after spending literally hours redialing DEO and getting nowhere, it was worth it to finally talk to someone who could fix my payment issue.

•I might try this if I can't get through tomorrow morning. At this point I'm desperate enough to try anything that might work!

Did u check if maybe there was an overpayment on a previous claim? Sometimes DEO will take back money from new payments if they think they paid u too much before. My friend had this happen and half her payment disappeared but it was because of an overpayment from like 6 months earlier.

•That's a good thought, but I've never had an overpayment issue before. This is actually my first time on unemployment in Florida, so there's no previous claim to pull from.

ALSO check if they took out child support!!!! They don't always tell you but they can take it right out of ur benefits if you have any outstanding child support. Happened to my brother and he was so confused why his payments were less.

•No child support obligations for me, but that's good to know they can do that. The whole thing is just weird because both weeks show as the same amount in CONNECT, but only one actually paid.

After reading through all your responses, I'm pretty confident this is a technical glitch in their payment processing system rather than an intentional hold. These types of issues typically require speaking directly with a claims specialist who can access the backend of the system. One other option I didn't mention: you can try contacting your state representative's office. Many of them have staff dedicated to helping constituents with DEO issues, and they often have direct contacts with higher-level DEO staff. Just google "[your county] state representative Florida" and you should find your rep's contact info.

•That's a really good idea about contacting my state rep - I hadn't thought of that. I'll try the phone again tomorrow morning first, but if that fails, I'll reach out to my representative's office. Thank you!

•Yes! Finally got through this morning using the Claimyr service someone suggested. The DEO agent found the issue - apparently the second payment was flagged for "manual review" because I had reported some part-time income on one of my weeks. Even though it was approved, it got stuck in their system. They released the payment while I was on the phone and said it should hit my account in 1-2 business days. Such a relief!
