DEO direct deposit randomly reversed after showing in my account - what's happening?
Has anyone else had this happen? I got my DEO payment via direct deposit on Tuesday ($425 for 2 weeks) and I was SO relieved because I'm behind on rent. Then I woke up Wednesday morning and checked my account and the payment was GONE! My bank says it was reversed by the sender. My CONNECT account still shows the payment was processed and sent but it's definitely not in my bank account anymore. I called DEO but got disconnected after waiting 2 hours. Is this a common issue? Did I do something wrong? I'm panicking because my landlord is already threatening eviction and I told him I'd have the money this week.

yep happened to me last month. turns out there was a 'discrepancy' in my work search info they needed to verify. took about 10 days before they reissued payment

•10 DAYS?? I can't wait that long! Did they notify you about the discrepancy or did you have to call them?

This happened to me twice during my claim period. In my case, it was because there was a pending adjudication issue that hadn't been fully resolved. Even though CONNECT showed the payment as processed, the system automatically recalled the funds when it detected an unresolved issue flag on my account. Unfortunately, this is something that requires speaking directly with a claims specialist at DEO to fix - they need to identify what the system flag is and address it before reissuing payment. Check your Determination Status screen in CONNECT for any pending issues. You might see something labeled 'Fact Finding' or 'Pending Adjudication' that needs resolution.

•I just checked and there IS something under 'Pending Issues' that says 'Work Search Review' with status 'Pending Adjudication' from last week. But why would they send the money and then take it back?? That seems so wrong.

THE EXACT SAME THING happened to me!!! The payment showed in my account for ONE DAY and then *poof* disappeared!!!! I called DEO like 50 times and couldn't get through. This system is DESIGNED to frustrate people so they give up on their benefits!!!!!

•I understand your frustration, but it's typically not by design. The CONNECT system has a series of automated checks that sometimes trigger after initial payment authorization. When there's an outstanding issue (especially work search related), the system can reverse payments even after they're initially processed. It's definitely frustrating but usually resolvable once you speak with a claims specialist.

After dealing with DEO for months, I discovered Claimyr which finally helped me get through to an actual person at DEO. The regular phone line is basically useless - I spent days trying to get through. With Claimyr (claimyr.com) they got me connected to a DEO agent in about 30 minutes who fixed my reversed payment issue. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj. Honestly, it was worth it for me because I was about to miss my car payment waiting for DEO to fix the deposit reversal.

•They don't work for DEO - they just have a system that keeps calling the DEO line until it gets through, then connects you. Saved me days of frustration.

This happened to me back in January. You need to upload new work search records for the weeks they're questioning. Go to the weeks in question and resubmit with MORE details. They often reverse payments if your work search info looks too vague or they think you're just filling in random stuff. Make sure to include the name of the actual person you talked to at each company and detailed notes about the position.

•Thank you! I think this is the issue. I was kind of general with my work search entries because I wasn't sure how detailed to be. I'll go back and add more information.

happened to my roommate two weeks ago....she had to go to the local CareerSource office to get it fixed because she could never get thru on the phone. they have direct access to DEO staff and fixed it on the spot. just bring ID and all your claim info

•That's really helpful, thank you! There's a CareerSource office about 20 minutes from me - I'll try going there tomorrow morning.

My sister works for DEO (not in claims though). She says payment reversals usually happen for one of these reasons: 1. Work search verification flag 2. Income reporting discrepancy 3. Identity verification issue 4. Bank account verification problem Check your Inbox in CONNECT - there should be a message explaining why the reversal happened. Also check if your payment method suddenly changed from direct deposit to Way2Go card - sometimes the system glitches and tries to send payment to both methods, then reverses one.

•I checked my CONNECT inbox and there's nothing about the reversal! That's what's so frustrating. But I think it's definitely the work search issue based on what everyone is saying.

•Yes! I ended up going to CareerSource like someone suggested and they were amazing. The DEO rep there found that my work search information was flagged for review because I used the same employer contact for multiple weeks (which is apparently not allowed). She helped me update my work search with new contacts, cleared the flag, and my payment was reissued yesterday. It took about 4 business days total to get fixed.

This is such a relief to hear you got it resolved! I'm dealing with a similar situation right now - my payment was reversed 3 days ago and I've been panicking. I checked my CONNECT account and sure enough, there's a "Work Search Review" under pending issues. I think I made the same mistake with using the same employer contact multiple times. Going to try the CareerSource route tomorrow since calling DEO directly seems impossible. Thanks for sharing the update - gives me hope that this can actually be fixed!
