DEO showing 'pending issues' after receiving first two payments - what should I do?

I'm so confused right now. I finally got my first two payments from DEO (one for $125 and another for $600) and was feeling relieved. Today I logged into CONNECT to submit my next benefit request and suddenly I'm seeing 'pending issues' on my dashboard. There's no explanation of what the issues are! I don't understand why this is happening after I already got approved and received payments. Has anyone dealt with this before? Will my benefits stop while this is being resolved? I'm really worried because I was counting on this money for next month's rent.

This happens ALL the time with DEO. Don't panic. 'Pending issues' usually means they need to verify something about your claim. Check your 'Determination, Pending Issue and Decision Summary' page in CONNECT - it should show what the pending issue is about (could be employment separation, income verification, work search, etc). You might also have a fact-finding questionnaire to complete. Look under the 'Inbox' tab.

Thanks for responding! I checked the determination page but it doesn't specify anything. My inbox is empty too. Should I just wait or try to contact them?

same thing happened to me last week. so annoying! just wait a day, sometimes the system updates slow and the questionnaire appears later

I'll try checking again tomorrow. This is so stressful!

DEO's system is GARBAGE!! I had pending issues for 6 WEEKS and my payments stopped completely even though I was previously approved!! They NEVER tell you what's wrong and you can NEVER get through on the phone!!! I had to drive to CareerSource just to find out they needed proof of my job search activities even though I ALREADY UPLOADED THEM!! The whole system is designed to make us give up!!

yeah this happened to my cousin too. he ended up losing his apartment because payments stopped for 2 months. florida system is broken

Here's what you need to do: 1. First, check if this is a quarterly review. DEO automatically reviews all claims every quarter to verify continued eligibility. 2. Look at your Monetary Status - if it says "Pending Quarterly Review" that's normal and usually resolves within 1-2 weeks. 3. If you see "Adjudication" status, that means a DEO employee needs to review something on your claim. 4. You should continue claiming weeks even with pending issues showing. If there's no explanation on the Determination page, you'll need to speak with a DEO representative. The regular DEO number (1-800-681-8102) has extremely long wait times, and most people get disconnected.

I looked more carefully and I do see "Adjudication" listed. Does that mean my payments will stop until someone reviews my case? I really can't afford any delays.

When I had adjudication issues last month, I couldn't get through to DEO for days. I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they got me connected to a live DEO agent in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj. The agent was able to tell me exactly what the issue was (they needed additional verification of my last employer) and how to resolve it. Saved me weeks of waiting and stress.

I've never heard of Claimyr. Did it actually work? I'm desperate to talk to someone at DEO but don't want to waste more time.

0 coins

Yes, it definitely worked for me. I was connected to an actual DEO agent who could see my claim details and help resolve the issue. Much better than waiting for weeks hoping it resolves itself. They just help you skip the phone queue basically.

my neighbor works at deo and says they r doing a bunch of fraud review stuff right now, might be why ur seeing pending. if u already got 2 payments ur probably fine just bureaucracy bs

Did you change anything about your employment status or income since you first applied? Sometimes that triggers a review. Also, when you do your weekly certifications, make sure you're consistent with your answers. Changing answers from one week to the next (like about job contacts or availability to work) can trigger pending issues.

0 coins

No, nothing has changed. I was laid off in January and haven't worked since. I've been answering everything consistently. I think I'll try Claimyr tomorrow if nothing changes in my account. I can't afford to wait weeks for this to resolve itself.

one time i had pending issues it was because i accidentally put the wrong date on something it fixed itself after 3 days dont worry too much

Quick update on the adjudication status - yes, your payments might be on hold until this is resolved, but not necessarily. Some people continue to receive payments while under review. It depends on the type of issue flagged. The most common adjudication issues are: 1. Income verification (they need proof of your pre-unemployment earnings) 2. Work search verification (random checks of your 5 required weekly activities) 3. Availability for work (if you indicated limited availability) 4. Employer dispute (former employer contesting your claim) Without knowing which one it is, it's hard to provide specific advice. Getting through to DEO is your best option at this point.

Thanks for this detailed explanation. I'll definitely try to get through to a representative tomorrow to figure out what's happening. I've uploaded all my income verification documents already and have been keeping detailed records of my work searches, so hopefully it's something simple they need to verify.

btw make sure u still claim ur weeks even with pending issues!!! they can back pay u if it gets resolved

That's really good to know, thanks! I'll make sure to keep claiming every two weeks no matter what.

I went through this exact same situation about 6 months ago! Got my first few payments, then boom - pending issues appeared out of nowhere. Turns out it was just a routine quarterly review where they verify you're still eligible. The frustrating part is that DEO's system doesn't always show you what the specific issue is right away. In my case, I kept claiming weeks like everyone suggested, and after about 10 days the pending status cleared and I got all my back payments. The key is to NOT stop claiming your weeks even though it shows pending. If you can get through to someone at DEO (good luck with that!), they can tell you exactly what triggered the review. Most of the time it's just bureaucratic stuff and resolves itself within 1-2 weeks.

This is exactly what I needed to hear! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It's reassuring to know that this is somewhat normal and that you got your back payments once it cleared. I was really starting to panic thinking I'd done something wrong. I'll definitely keep claiming my weeks and try to be patient, though I might still attempt to get through to DEO just to ease my mind. 10 days feels manageable compared to some of the horror stories I've been reading about people waiting months. Really appreciate you taking the time to respond!

I'm dealing with something similar right now! Just want to add that when I called DEO this morning, the automated system actually has a new option where you can check your claim status by entering your SSN. It told me my pending issue was related to "continued claim eligibility verification" - which sounds like what others mentioned about quarterly reviews. The automated system said to expect resolution within 10-15 business days. It's not as detailed as talking to a person, but at least it gave me some peace of mind that it's a routine thing. You might want to try calling just to use the automated status check - press 1 for English, then 3 for claim status, then enter your info. Hope this helps!

Oh wow, I had no idea about that automated status check option! I've been dreading having to wait on hold for hours just to get basic information. I'm definitely going to try calling and using that system - "continued claim eligibility verification" sounds exactly like what might be happening with my account too. 10-15 business days is still nerve-wracking when you're counting on the money, but at least it's a concrete timeframe instead of the unknown. Thanks so much for sharing this tip, it could save me (and probably others here) a lot of stress and wasted time trying to get through to a live person just for basic status info!

Just want to echo what others have said about continuing to claim your weeks - this is crucial! I made the mistake of stopping my claims when I saw "pending issues" appear last year, thinking I wasn't eligible anymore. Big mistake! When the issue finally cleared after 3 weeks, I had to go through a whole separate process to get those missed weeks reinstated, which took another month. The DEO system is confusing but the rule is simple: keep claiming unless they specifically tell you to stop. Also, screenshot everything in your account right now - the status pages, your payment history, everything. Sometimes the system glitches and information disappears, so having those screenshots saved me when I had to prove my claim timeline to a DEO representative later.

0 coins

This is such important advice that I wish I had known earlier! Thank you for sharing your experience about continuing to claim weeks - I definitely would have made that same mistake of stopping claims when I saw "pending issues." Taking screenshots right now is brilliant too, I never would have thought of that but it makes total sense given how glitchy the system can be. It's frustrating that we have to become experts in navigating a broken system just to get the benefits we're entitled to, but I really appreciate everyone here sharing their hard-learned lessons. Going to document everything in my account immediately and set up a routine to keep claiming no matter what shows up on my dashboard.

Hey Charlotte, I know exactly how you're feeling right now - that panic when you see "pending issues" after finally getting some relief! I went through this same rollercoaster about 4 months ago. Got my first payment, felt like I could breathe again, then BAM - pending issues with zero explanation. Turns out it was just DEO doing their thing (aka being completely unhelpful with communication). A few things that helped me: First, like others said, DO NOT stop claiming your weeks - this is super important! Second, try that automated phone system Joshua mentioned - it actually gave me way more info than the website ever did. Third, if you can afford the small fee, Claimyr really did work for me when I absolutely needed to talk to someone. The waiting is brutal when you're worried about rent, I totally get it. But based on what everyone's sharing here, it sounds like you're dealing with a routine review since you already received payments. Try to hang in there - this community has been a lifesaver for navigating DEO's mess of a system!

Thank you so much Victoria! Your message really helps calm my nerves. It's such a relief to hear from someone who went through the exact same emotional rollercoaster - that feeling of finally getting some hope with the first payment, then having it crushed by "pending issues" is exactly what I'm experiencing. I've already taken screenshots of everything like Zoe suggested, and I'm definitely going to try that automated phone system first thing tomorrow morning. If that doesn't give me enough information, I'll look into Claimyr. It's crazy that we have to pay extra just to talk to someone about our own benefits, but if it saves weeks of stress it might be worth it. Thanks for reminding me that I'm not alone in this - this community really is a lifeline when dealing with DEO's terrible system!

I'm going through this EXACT same thing right now! Got my first payment last week, felt so relieved, and then yesterday - pending issues appeared. I've been reading through all these responses and it's making me feel so much better knowing this is apparently normal (though super stressful). I tried the automated phone system that Joshua mentioned and it actually worked! It told me I have "eligibility verification in progress" and to expect 7-10 business days. Still nerve-wracking but at least I know it's not some major problem with my claim. Charlotte, definitely keep claiming your weeks like everyone said - I almost made the mistake of skipping this week's claim thinking something was wrong. Also took screenshots of everything after reading Zoe's advice. This whole system is so poorly designed but this community is seriously saving my sanity right now. Hang in there!

I'm so glad you tried the automated system and got some clarity! "Eligibility verification in progress" with a 7-10 day timeframe sounds way less scary than just seeing "pending issues" with no explanation. It's incredible how much better we all feel just having SOME information, even if it's not from a human representative. I'm definitely going to call tomorrow morning and try that automated option - knowing there's actually a way to get status updates without waiting on hold for hours is such a game changer. Thank you for reporting back on your experience! It's really helpful to hear that it's working for others too. This thread has honestly been more informative than anything on the actual DEO website. Fingers crossed both our issues clear up quickly!

I just wanted to jump in here as someone who's been helping people navigate DEO issues for a while. Based on what you're describing Charlotte, this sounds like a routine quarterly eligibility review that DEO does automatically. The fact that you already received two payments is actually a good sign - it means your initial claim was properly approved. Here's my advice: 1) Keep claiming your weeks no matter what (this is crucial for getting back pay later), 2) Try that automated phone system at 1-800-681-8102 that others mentioned - press 1, then 3, then enter your SSN, 3) Don't panic if payments pause temporarily during review - they'll backdate everything once resolved. The "adjudication" status you mentioned typically resolves within 2-3 weeks for routine reviews. The system is frustrating but you're likely fine. Document everything and stay consistent with your weekly certifications. This community has your back!

Noah, thank you so much for this reassuring breakdown! As someone new to unemployment benefits, it's incredibly helpful to hear from someone experienced with DEO issues. The fact that you specifically mentioned routine quarterly reviews and that receiving payments initially is a good sign really puts my mind at ease. I was honestly starting to think I had somehow messed up my application or that DEO had made a mistake approving me. Your three-step action plan is exactly what I needed - clear, actionable steps instead of just worrying. I'm going to call that automated line first thing in the morning and will definitely keep claiming my weeks religiously. It's such a relief to know that 2-3 weeks is the typical timeframe for these reviews. Thank you for taking the time to help newcomers like me navigate this confusing system!

Hey Charlotte! I'm new to this community but your situation sounds exactly like what happened to my sister last month. She got her first payment, then "pending issues" appeared out of nowhere and she was terrified her benefits would be cut off. Turns out it was just DEO doing their regular verification checks - super common after you start receiving payments. What really helped her was that automated phone system people are mentioning. She called 1-800-681-8102, pressed 1 then 3, entered her SSN and found out it was just "routine claim verification" with an estimated 10-day resolution. Having that information made the waiting so much more bearable than just staring at "pending issues" with no context. The most important thing (which everyone here is saying but I'll repeat) - keep claiming your weeks! My sister almost stopped claiming thinking something was wrong, but thankfully someone warned her not to. When her review cleared after 12 days, she got all her back payments. I know the stress is real when you're counting on that money for rent. But from everything I've read here and my sister's experience, it sounds like you're dealing with normal DEO bureaucracy rather than a real problem with your claim. This community seems amazing for support during the waiting period!

Seraphina, thank you so much for sharing your sister's experience! It's incredibly comforting to hear another recent success story with the same exact situation. I've been feeling so isolated dealing with this, but reading everyone's responses here has shown me that "pending issues" after initial payments is apparently super common. I'm definitely going to call that automated line tomorrow morning - it sounds like having even basic information about what type of review it is makes such a huge difference mentally. Your reminder about continuing to claim weeks is so important too. I can't believe how many people almost made that mistake (myself included)! Knowing your sister got her back payments after 12 days gives me hope that this will resolve soon. This community really is amazing - I wish I had found it sooner instead of panicking alone. Thanks for taking the time to share your family's experience, it means a lot to us newcomers!

I'm going through the exact same situation right now and this thread has been so helpful! I got my first payment two weeks ago, felt like I could finally breathe, and then yesterday morning I logged in to see "pending issues" with no explanation. I was absolutely panicking because I have bills due next week. Reading everyone's experiences here has calmed me down so much. I had no idea this was such a common thing with DEO - the way they display "pending issues" makes it seem like you've done something terribly wrong! I'm definitely going to try that automated phone system at 1-800-681-8102 tomorrow morning. The fact that multiple people have gotten useful information that way is really encouraging. I've already taken screenshots of my entire account (thanks Zoe!) and I'm going to keep claiming my weeks no matter what. It's crazy that we have to become experts in navigating a broken system just to get basic information about our own benefits, but I'm so grateful for this community sharing all these tips and experiences. For anyone else dealing with this - you're not alone! Based on all the responses here, it sounds like these routine reviews are frustrating but normal. Hang in there everyone!

Freya, I'm so glad this thread has helped calm your nerves! I was in the exact same boat yesterday - that feeling of panic when you see "pending issues" after finally getting some relief is just awful. It's crazy how DEO's system makes routine reviews look like major problems! I'm planning to call that automated line first thing tomorrow too - it's so reassuring that multiple people have gotten helpful information that way. The screenshot tip from Zoe is genius, I never would have thought of that but it makes perfect sense given how glitchy their system can be. Thanks for the encouragement about keeping up with weekly claims - I was definitely second-guessing myself on that. You're absolutely right that we shouldn't have to become DEO experts just to get basic info about our own benefits, but at least we have this community to help each other navigate the chaos. Hopefully both our reviews clear up quickly!
