DEO payment confusion - approved with 'pending' status but told to keep claiming?
I just got laid off after 12 years at the same company (budget cuts - ugh). Been applying everywhere for almost 3 months with zero luck. Finally broke down and applied for unemployment through DEO about 10 days ago. Today I checked CONNECT and I *think* I got approved? But there's something weird - it shows my monetary determination amount but also says there's an 'issue pending.' Still, the system is telling me to keep claiming my weeks, with my first claim date coming up on 9/9. \n\nDoes anyone know what this means? Will I actually get paid after I claim on 9/9, or is this just procedural and I won't see any money until whatever this mysterious 'pending' thing gets resolved? The last time I dealt with unemployment was during the pandemic chaos and everything worked differently then. Starting to get really worried about bills piling up. Has anyone experienced this 'approved but pending' situation recently?

Ugh, 3 weeks with no money coming in? That's what I'm afraid of... did they at least backpay you for all those weeks once it was resolved?

WHATEVER YOU DO, keep claiming your weeks on time!!!! I had the same situation in June and stopped claiming because I thought

Thanks for the warning! I'll definitely keep claiming even if nothing's happening. Did they tell you what the pending issue was or did it just magically resolve one day?

Mine just suddenly changed one day, no explanation. I think they were verifying with my employer about why I was let go. The DEO never actually TELLS you anything useful. 🤬

What you're experiencing is pretty common with Florida's DEO system. The \

Thank you for explaining this so clearly! I checked the Determination page but it doesn't give any specific details about what's pending. Just says \

This is excellent advice. Proactively providing documentation can definitely help speed up the process. The document upload section is located under \

I do have the official layoff letter! Going to upload it right away. Thank you for this tip - anything that might speed up the process is worth trying at this point.

Just wanted to add something that might help - make sure your identity verification with ID.me is complete. Sometimes there's a pending issue because they need to confirm your identity, but the system doesn't make it clear that's what's happening. Go to ID.me and make sure everything is verified there, as this is often a hidden reason for delays that's easy to fix.\n\nAlso, when you start claiming, the first week is a \

I totally forgot about the waiting week! Thanks for the reminder. I did complete the ID.me verification when I first applied, but I'll double-check that everything went through properly. It's crazy how many little technical things can hold up the whole process.

Has anyone else noticed that DEO seems to put EVERYONE through adjudication these days? It's like they automatically flag every new claim just to delay paying benefits. My neighbor and I both filed claims about a month apart and we BOTH got the exact same runaround with pending issues that mysteriously resolved after about a month with no explanation. It's like they're hoping people will just give up or find a job before they have to pay anything out!

OMG someone finally said it!!! the entire system is DESIGNED to be frustrating

While it does seem that way sometimes, I think it's more about their outdated systems and understaffing than a deliberate attempt to deny benefits. The CONNECT system has been problematic since it launched. That said, it does seem like adjudication is becoming more common, perhaps due to increased concerns about fraud after all the pandemic claim issues.
