ESD claim shows 'pending' after getting paid last week - will payment still come tomorrow?
I'm really confused about my unemployment claim status. Last week I finally got paid after going through adjudication and then the waiting week. But now this week my status is showing as 'pending' again. There are no new messages in my account and no requests for additional information. Does this 'pending' status mean I'll still get paid tomorrow as scheduled? Or is something wrong with my claim? I'm getting nervous because I have rent due next week and was counting on this payment.

This happens sometimes. If you filed your weekly claim on Sunday like normal and nothing else has changed with your situation, the pending status is probably just the system processing your payment. Mine often shows pending the day before it gets deposited.

•Thanks for responding! Did yours ever stay in pending for more than a day? I'm just worried because last week it switched to 'paid' by this time.

The ESD payment processing system sometimes has delays that don't actually affect when the money hits your account. As long as you don't have any new adjudication issues or disqualifications listed, your payment should still process normally. The system typically updates overnight, so check again in the morning. If it's still pending tomorrow afternoon, then you might want to contact ESD.

I had this exact thing happen in january. Went from adjudication to waiting week to paid then back to pending. Turns out they were doing an automated verification of my job search activities that week. took an extra day but the money came through. did you do all 3 job search activities for the week?

•Yes, I definitely did all 3 job search activities and logged them. I'm hoping you're right and it's just some automatic verification happening behind the scenes.

If your claim is still showing pending tomorrow and you need to reach ESD, I would recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was stuck in a similar situation last month with my payment stuck in pending for several days. Spent hours trying to get through to ESD but kept getting disconnected. Found Claimyr and they connected me to an actual ESD agent in about 20 minutes. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. The agent was able to see exactly what was causing the delay and fixed it while I was on the phone.

•Does that service actually work? I've been trying to reach ESD for a week about an overpayment issue.

•Yes, it absolutely works. They basically navigate the ESD phone system for you and call you back when they have an agent on the line. Saved me hours of frustration.

The ESD system is completley BROKEN!! I had the same issue and ended up with NO PAYMENT for two weeks because of a "system flag" that no one told me about!!! Call them ASAP don't wait or you'll be eating ramen like I was!!

•While there can definitely be issues with claims processing, most pending statuses do resolve within 24-48 hours without intervention. It's good to be proactive but no need to panic immediately if there are no alerts or messages in your account.

This is actually a very common occurrence with ESD's payment processing system. The pending status is typically just part of the normal processing cycle. Here's what's likely happening: 1. Your weekly claim was accepted (this is the most important part) 2. The system is running automated verification checks 3. There's a slight processing delay As long as you have no alerts, messages, or adjudication notifications, your payment should process normally, though it might be delayed by 1-2 business days from your usual deposit time. The system often updates claim statuses overnight between midnight and 6am, so check again tomorrow morning. If it's still pending after 48 hours, then it would be worth contacting ESD directly.

•Thank you for such a detailed explanation! This makes total sense. I'll try to be patient and check again tomorrow morning.

UPDATE: You all were right! My status changed to 'paid' this morning and the payment is scheduled for deposit tomorrow. Thanks everyone for calming me down and helping me understand how the system works. I'll know not to panic next time I see 'pending' status.
