EDD status changed from 'pending review' to 'no weeks to certify' - am I disqualified?
I'm completely confused about my EDD claim status. I filed on Sept 18th, certified for my first two weeks (9/18-10/1), and then had a phone interview with EDD last Thursday. After the interview, my account said 'pending review' with a message to wait 10 days. I checked my UI Online account this morning, and now it says 'no weeks to certify' and those initial two weeks still show as 'disqualified'. I'm freaking out a bit - does this mean my entire claim was rejected? Or is my account just in limbo while they process something? Has anyone experienced this status change sequence before? I really need this money to cover my rent next month after getting laid off from my healthcare admin job.

Same thing happened to me last month!! My claim went from pending to 'no weeks to certify' and I thought I was denied too. Turns out they were just processing my eligibility interview results. It took 14 days (not the 10 they promised) but then suddenly my portal updated with certification weeks available. Did the interviewer mention anything about additional documentation they needed or any potential issues with your claim?

•The interviewer wasn't very clear about next steps. She just said they needed to verify some info with my previous employer because there was a question about the reason for separation. I submitted all my termination paperwork through UI Online already - I wish they'd just look at that!

This sounds like you're in the post-interview review phase. When your status says "no weeks to certify" after previously saying "pending review," it typically means they're making a determination on your eligibility based on the interview. The disqualification for those first weeks might be temporary until they complete their review. You should receive a Notice of Determination in your UI Online inbox or by mail within 10-14 days after your interview. This will explain their decision and your next steps. If you disagree with their determination, you'll have 30 days to appeal. Don't panic yet - this is fairly normal in the process, especially when there are questions about separation from employment.

•Thank you, that's reassuring! When you say it might be temporary disqualification, does that mean those weeks could change to paid status later? Or would I lose those weeks regardless?

Gavin King
•Yes, those weeks can change from disqualified to paid if your claim is ultimately approved. The system automatically marks weeks as disqualified when there's a pending eligibility issue, but once resolved in your favor, they'll update and release payment for those weeks. Just make sure you've completed all certification questions correctly for those weeks.

ur not alone. EDD messed up my claim 3 times this yr. the disqualified status just means they havent processed ur interview results yet. in my case i got the determination letter 2 wks after interview but the online status was confusing the whole time. call them!!

•Did you actually manage to get through on the phone? I've been calling the 800 number for days and just get the automated message saying they're experiencing high call volume.

I went through this exact situation in January. The "no weeks to certify" status combined with previously disqualified weeks usually means they're making a determination on your eligibility. This happens especially when there's a question about job separation (quit vs. layoff, etc.). If your interview was about job separation, they need to contact your employer and get their side before making a decision. This can take anywhere from 10-20 days in my experience, not the 10 they claim. You have three options: 1. Wait for the determination letter (slowest but requires no action) 2. Contact your EDD office directly (better than the main line) 3. Use Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an EDD rep quickly - that's what finally worked for me after waiting 3 weeks with no updates. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Just getting a live person who can check your claim status will give you peace of mind on what's happening.

•Thank you for the detailed response! I didn't know about the local office option. Is that more effective than the main number? And I'll check out that Claimyr service - at this point I'm willing to try anything to get answers.

THIS SYSTEM IS BROKEN!! I had the EXACT same thing happen twice! "pending review" then "no weeks to certify" then NOTHING for weeks!!! They make it IMPOSSIBLE to talk to a real person while they hold our money hostage! I waited 23 days after my interview before I got any update and then they randomly started letting me certify again with no explanation. No determination letter, no updates, nothing! They just expect us to wait with no income and no information!!

•I hear you! It's infuriating how they leave us in the dark. Did you ever find out why your status changed? Did the previous weeks change from disqualified to paid?

•When I finally got through to someone (after 31 calls!!), they said it was a system flag that needed manual review. My first 3 weeks suddenly changed to paid after they fixed it, but they never would have if I hadn't called. They claim the system is "automated" but clearly it's not working right!

Just wanted to say I'm in a similar situation and it's nice to not feel alone in this frustrating process. My claim is still stuck after my interview 2 weeks ago. Has anyone had success with the ID.me verification? I'm wondering if that's causing additional delays for anyone else.

•I did my ID.me verification before I filed and it seemed to work fine - at least I didn't get any errors about that part. It's so stressful not knowing what's happening with the claim!

Just checking in - any updates on your claim status? It's been about a week since your original post, which would put you close to that 10-day timeline they mentioned.

•Thanks for checking back! I finally got through to EDD yesterday using that Claimyr service someone mentioned. The rep explained my claim had a "separation issue" flag that needed supervisor review. They cleared it while I was on the phone, and this morning my portal updated with weeks to certify! The previously disqualified weeks now show as pending payment. Such a relief!

•That's fantastic news! So glad you got it resolved. This gives me hope for others dealing with the same issue. It sounds like the "separation issue" flag is pretty common when there are questions about why someone left their job. Thanks for updating us - it really helps to know these situations do get resolved, even if the process is frustrating.

Congratulations on getting your claim resolved! Your experience really highlights how important it is to actually speak with someone at EDD rather than just waiting. The "separation issue" flag seems to be a common problem that gets stuck in their system and requires manual intervention. For anyone else dealing with this - don't just wait the full timeline they give you. If you can get through to a rep, they can often clear these flags immediately like they did for Ella. Thanks for sharing your update - it's really helpful to see a success story after all the stress you went through!

•This is such great advice! I'm dealing with a similar situation right now - my claim has been stuck on "pending review" for over two weeks after my interview. Reading through this thread and seeing Ella's success story gives me hope that it's not actually denied, just stuck in their system. I'm definitely going to try calling instead of just waiting around. It's crazy how much stress this process causes when you're already dealing with job loss. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - it really helps to know we're not alone in this!

Reading through this thread as someone who just went through a similar experience last month - Ella's update is exactly what I needed to hear! I was stuck in the same "no weeks to certify" status after my interview and was convinced I'd been denied. Like others mentioned, getting through to an actual person made all the difference. My claim had been flagged for a "wage verification" issue that was holding everything up, but once I spoke to a rep they were able to resolve it immediately. The whole process took about 3 weeks total, but those disqualified weeks did get updated to paid status once it was cleared. For anyone still waiting - don't lose hope! These technical flags seem to be really common and usually just need someone to manually review and clear them. The system definitely isn't as "automated" as they claim it is.

•Thank you for sharing your experience! It's so reassuring to hear another success story. I'm actually going through something similar right now - my status changed to "no weeks to certify" three days ago after my interview, and I've been panicking thinking I was denied. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been incredibly helpful. It sounds like these system flags are way more common than EDD lets on, and the key really is getting through to speak with someone directly rather than just waiting it out. I'm going to try calling tomorrow using some of the tips mentioned in this thread. It's amazing how much stress this process adds when you're already dealing with unemployment - but seeing all these positive outcomes gives me hope that it will work out!

This thread has been incredibly helpful for understanding what's actually happening during the EDD review process! As someone who's currently dealing with a similar situation (interview completed 5 days ago, status changed to "no weeks to certify" yesterday), it's such a relief to see that this is a normal part of the process and not an automatic denial. The pattern seems clear - these "separation issue" and other system flags require manual review that takes longer than their stated timelines. What really stands out is how calling and speaking to a rep can resolve issues immediately that would otherwise sit in limbo for weeks. I'm definitely going to try the phone approach rather than just waiting around stressing about it. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences, especially Ella for the detailed updates - it really helps to see the full journey from panic to resolution!

•This thread really shows how broken the communication is between EDD and claimants! It's frustrating that we all have to piece together what's "normal" from each other's experiences instead of getting clear information from EDD directly. I'm new to this process (just filed my claim last week) and reading through everyone's stories is both terrifying and reassuring at the same time. It sounds like the key takeaways are: 1) "no weeks to certify" after an interview doesn't mean denied, 2) their timelines are often longer than stated, and 3) calling can resolve stuck claims immediately. I really hope EDD fixes these system issues - people shouldn't have to become detectives just to understand their own claim status!

This thread has been a lifesaver! I'm going through the exact same thing right now - had my interview 8 days ago and my status just changed to "no weeks to certify" this morning. I was about to have a complete meltdown thinking I'd been denied, but reading everyone's experiences here shows this is actually pretty normal. It's incredible how EDD doesn't explain any of this process to us - we're all just left to figure it out from each other! The common thread seems to be that these system flags (separation issues, wage verification, etc.) get stuck and need manual review, but calling can get them resolved immediately instead of waiting weeks. I'm definitely going to try getting through to someone tomorrow rather than just sitting here panicking. Thanks especially to Ella for sharing your whole journey and update - seeing that those "disqualified" weeks can actually change to paid once the issue is resolved gives me so much hope! This community support means everything when you're dealing with job loss and a confusing bureaucracy.

•I'm so glad this thread helped ease your anxiety! I just went through something similar a few months ago and the uncertainty is absolutely nerve-wracking, especially when you're already stressed about finances. What really struck me about everyone's experiences here is how consistent the pattern is - the system flags these claims but doesn't communicate what's happening, leaving us all in the dark. It's reassuring to know that "no weeks to certify" after an interview is actually a normal processing step, not a rejection. I ended up waiting about 12 days before my status updated, but like others mentioned, calling definitely seems to be the faster route. The fact that those previously disqualified weeks can flip to paid status once the flag is cleared is huge - that back pay can make such a difference when you're struggling to cover basic expenses. Wishing you the best with your call tomorrow!

I'm currently going through this exact situation and this thread has been incredibly eye-opening! Filed my claim 3 weeks ago, had my phone interview last Friday, and just saw my status change to "no weeks to certify" this morning. I was absolutely convinced I'd been denied and was starting to panic about how I'm going to make rent next month. Reading through everyone's experiences here - especially Ella's detailed journey and successful resolution - has been such a relief. It's clear that EDD's communication is absolutely terrible and they leave us all guessing about what these status changes actually mean. The pattern everyone describes (pending review → no weeks to certify → manual flag resolution) seems to be the standard process, not an indication of denial. What frustrates me most is that we're all having to piece together how this system works from each other instead of getting clear information from EDD directly. But I'm so grateful for communities like this where people share their real experiences. Based on what I've read here, I'm going to try calling tomorrow instead of just waiting around stressing for weeks. The fact that reps can often clear these flags immediately while you're on the phone gives me hope that this will get resolved soon. Thank you to everyone who shared their stories - it really helps to know we're not alone in this confusing process!

•I'm so sorry you're going through this stress too! I just joined this community today after finding myself in a very similar situation - my interview was 6 days ago and my status changed to "no weeks to certify" yesterday. I was having a complete panic attack about it until I found this thread. It's honestly shocking how many of us are experiencing the exact same sequence of events with zero explanation from EDD about what's actually happening. The fact that this seems to be their standard process but they don't tell us that is just cruel when we're already dealing with the financial stress of unemployment. Reading everyone's stories here has been such a lifeline - especially knowing that those "disqualified" weeks can actually get paid out once the flag is cleared. I'm definitely going to try calling this week too. It's incredible how this community has to fill in the gaps where EDD's communication completely fails us. Thank you for sharing your experience and adding to this helpful thread!

Just wanted to chime in as someone who went through this nightmare process twice in the past year. Reading through everyone's experiences here brings back so much frustration, but I'm glad to see people supporting each other through it! The "pending review" to "no weeks to certify" status change is unfortunately super common - it happened to me both times I had to deal with EDD. What's maddening is that they give you zero explanation of what's actually happening. The first time, I waited the full 3 weeks they told me, thinking I had to just be patient. The second time (different job separation issue), I called immediately after reading experiences like these online and got it resolved in one phone call. For anyone currently stuck in this limbo: your claim is most likely NOT denied. These system flags for separation issues, wage verification, or employer response delays seem to trigger automatically and require manual review. The "disqualified" weeks are just a temporary status while they investigate - they can and usually do flip to paid once cleared. My advice: don't wait the full timeline they give you. Call after a few days if your status changes to "no weeks to certify." I know getting through is terrible, but it's worth the effort. Both times, the rep was able to see exactly what flag was holding up my claim and clear it while I was on the phone. Hang in there everyone - this process is broken but it does eventually get resolved!

•Thank you so much for sharing your experience with going through this twice! It's incredibly helpful to hear from someone who has been through the full process multiple times. Your point about not waiting the full timeline is really important - it sounds like being proactive with calling can save weeks of unnecessary stress and uncertainty. I'm curious, when you called the second time and got it resolved immediately, did they explain why the system doesn't automatically process these flags? It seems like such a common issue that you'd think they would have streamlined the process by now. Your reassurance that the "disqualified" status is just temporary while they investigate is exactly what people in this thread needed to hear. It's unfortunate that we all have to learn this from each other's experiences rather than from clear communication from EDD, but I'm grateful for community members like you who take the time to share what you've learned!

I'm new to this community but wanted to share my current experience since it mirrors what so many of you have described. Filed my claim in early February, had my phone interview 10 days ago, and my status just changed from "pending review" to "no weeks to certify" yesterday. Reading through this entire thread has been such a relief - I was convinced I'd been denied and was already panicking about how to pay my bills next month. The pattern everyone describes is exactly what I'm experiencing, and it's infuriating that EDD doesn't explain any of this process. The fact that "no weeks to certify" after an interview seems to be standard procedure, not a denial, is information they should be providing upfront instead of leaving us all to figure it out from each other's experiences. Based on everything I've read here, especially Ella's success story and Freya's advice about not waiting the full timeline, I'm going to try calling tomorrow morning. It's encouraging to know that these system flags can often be cleared immediately by a rep, and that those "disqualified" weeks can flip to paid status once resolved. Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences - this community support is invaluable when dealing with EDD's broken communication system. I'll update once I hopefully get through to someone!

•Welcome to the community, Chloe! Your situation sounds exactly like what so many of us have been through - it's almost like EDD has a playbook for creating maximum anxiety with their status changes! Reading through this thread when you're in the middle of it is both terrifying and reassuring at the same time. The fact that this "pending review" to "no weeks to certify" pattern is so consistent across everyone's experiences really shows how broken their communication is. It's wild that we all have to become detectives just to understand our own claim status! Definitely try calling tomorrow - based on what everyone here has shared, getting through to a live person seems to be the key to getting these stuck flags cleared quickly instead of waiting weeks in limbo. Good luck with your call, and please update us on how it goes! This community has been such a lifeline for navigating EDD's confusing system.

Reading through everyone's experiences in this thread has been incredibly eye-opening! I'm dealing with a very similar situation right now - had my phone interview 12 days ago and my status just switched to "no weeks to certify" this morning. Like so many others here, I initially panicked thinking I'd been denied, but seeing the consistent pattern everyone describes (and especially Ella's successful resolution) gives me hope that this is just part of their broken process rather than an actual rejection. What really strikes me is how we're all experiencing the exact same sequence: pending review → no weeks to certify → system flag that needs manual clearing. The fact that EDD doesn't explain this standard process is honestly cruel when people are already stressed about unemployment and finances. It's clear from everyone's stories that these "separation issue" flags and similar system holds are incredibly common but require speaking to an actual person to resolve. I'm definitely going to try calling this week based on all the advice here. The success stories from Ella, Freya, and others show that what seems like a denial is usually just a technical flag that can be cleared immediately by a rep. Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences - this community support is exactly what people need when dealing with EDD's confusing and poorly communicated system!

•I just joined this community after going through the exact same panic you're describing! My interview was 8 days ago and I got that dreaded "no weeks to certify" status change yesterday. Reading through this entire thread has been like finding a support group for EDD survivors - it's both comforting and infuriating to see how many of us are dealing with identical situations. The pattern is so consistent it's almost laughable if it weren't so stressful when you're trying to figure out how to pay rent! What really gets me is that EDD could easily prevent all this anxiety by just explaining that "no weeks to certify" is a normal processing step, not a denial. Instead we're all left here piecing together their broken system from each other's experiences. I'm planning to call tomorrow too - seeing all these success stories where reps cleared the flags immediately gives me hope that we can get this resolved quickly instead of waiting weeks in uncertainty. Thanks for adding your voice to this thread - it helps to know none of us are alone in this mess!

I just want to say thank you to everyone who contributed to this thread - it's been absolutely invaluable! I'm currently in week 2 of the "no weeks to certify" status after my interview, and finding this discussion probably saved my sanity. The pattern everyone describes is so consistent that it's clear this is EDD's standard (but poorly communicated) process rather than actual denials. What really resonates with me is how we're all having to become investigators of our own claims because EDD provides zero transparency about what these status changes actually mean. The fact that "separation issue" flags and similar system holds seem to be routine but require manual clearing is exactly the kind of information they should be providing upfront. Based on all the success stories here - especially seeing how Ella's "disqualified" weeks eventually flipped to paid status - I'm feeling much more optimistic about my situation. I'm planning to call this week rather than waiting out their full timeline. It's amazing how this community has filled the gap where EDD's communication completely fails us. This thread has been incredibly helpful for understanding what's actually happening during EDD's review process! I'm currently dealing with a similar situation - had my interview 9 days ago and my status changed to "no weeks to certify" 3 days ago. Like everyone else here, I initially thought I was denied and was starting to panic about my finances. What's really striking is how consistent everyone's experience has been - the same status progression, the same confusion, and ultimately the same resolution pattern. It's clear that EDD has a serious communication problem when so many people are going through identical situations with zero explanation of what's actually happening. Reading Ella's journey from panic to successful resolution, and seeing how many others have had their "disqualified" weeks flip to paid status once the flags were cleared, gives me real hope. The advice about calling instead of waiting the full timeline seems to be the key - it's frustrating that we have to be proactive to get our own claims unstuck, but at least there's a path forward. Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences, especially the success stories. This community support is exactly what people need when dealing with EDD's broken system. Reading everyone's experiences here would have saved me so much stress if I'd found it earlier! What really helped me was calling exactly 7 days after my status changed instead of waiting their full timeline. This thread has been such a lifesaver for me! I'm currently in day 6 of the "no weeks to certify" status after my interview, and I was absolutely convinced I'd been denied until I found this discussion. Reading through everyone's nearly identical experiences really shows how broken EDD's communication system is - we're all going through the exact same process but getting zero explanation from them about what these status changes actually mean. The pattern is so consistent: pending review → no weeks to certify → system flag requiring manual review → eventual resolution with back pay. It's incredible that EDD doesn't just explain this upfront instead of leaving us all to panic and figure it out from each other! Based on all the success stories here, especially seeing how quickly reps can clear these flags once you actually get through to someone, I'm going to try calling tomorrow instead of waiting out their full timeline. The fact that those "disqualified" weeks can flip to paid status once resolved gives me so much hope for getting the back pay I desperately need.
