EDD status changed from 'pending review' to 'no weeks to certify' after interview - still disqualified?
I'm totally confused about what's happening with my claim. I applied for UI benefits on August 31st and had my phone eligibility interview about 10 days ago. After the interview, my account status said 'pending review' and the EDD rep told me to wait about 10 days for a decision. I certified for my first two weeks (8/31-9/14) right after applying. Here's where it gets weird - I just logged in today and noticed my status has changed from 'pending review' to 'no weeks to certify,' but those initial two weeks I certified for still show as 'disqualified.' Is this normal? Does it mean my claim is still being processed, or did they just reject me without sending any notification? I haven't received any messages in my UI Online inbox or any letters explaining the disqualification. I'm starting to panic because rent is due soon, and I don't know if I should appeal the disqualification or keep waiting. Has anyone experienced this status change before? What does it typically mean?

probaly means ur claim is denied bcause of som eligibility issue. when my claim got denied last yr it did the same thing - said no weeks to certify and my weeks styed disqualified. check ur inbox for messages, sometimes they dont send the letter right away.

•Thanks for the reply. I've been checking my UI Online inbox obsessively and haven't received anything yet. How long did it take for you to get the official denial letter?

This doesn't necessarily mean your claim is denied. The "no weeks to certify" status combined with previously disqualified weeks could mean several things: 1. Your claim is still under review after the interview, but the system automatically stops certification until a decision is made 2. There could be an identity verification issue that needs resolving 3. The interview revealed potential eligibility issues they're still investigating The disqualification of those weeks might be temporary until they make a final determination. Did anything specific come up during your phone interview that might explain the disqualification?

•During the interview, they asked about my last employer and why I left. I explained I was laid off due to budget cuts, and the interviewer seemed satisfied with that answer. She did mention something about needing to verify my employment history, but didn't indicate there were any problems.

Ugh, sorry you're going through this! This EXACT thing happened to me back in March. The "no weeks to certify" status drove me CRAZY because I had no idea what it meant!!! For me, it turned out that they had flagged my claim for an identity verification issue, but the notice got sent to my physical address instead of showing up in my UI Online inbox. Did you complete ID.me verification when you first applied? If not, that might be the holdup.

•Yes, I did complete the ID.me verification when I first applied. The process was pretty smooth, and I got the confirmation that my identity was verified. I'll check my mail again today to see if anything arrived.

the EDD system is a complete disaster. I bet they never even processed your interview correctly. Half the time these reps don't even know what they're doing and just leave claims in limbo. You're going to be waiting FOREVER unless you can actually reach someone competent on the phone.

•I've had success reaching EDD by using Claimyr (claimyr.com) - it saved me weeks of frustration. They have this service that gets you through to an actual EDD rep quickly instead of calling hundreds of times. You can see how it works in this video: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km I was in a similar situation with weeks showing as disqualified after my interview, and I needed to speak with someone to understand why. The rep I reached was able to see notes from my interview and explained exactly what I needed to provide to resolve the issue. Definitely worth it to get a clear answer.

Based on my experience with EDD claims, here's what's likely happening: When your status changes from "pending review" to "no weeks to certify" while previously certified weeks remain "disqualified," it usually means the claim is still being processed but they've put a hold on allowing further certifications until they make a determination. The disqualification of your initial weeks (8/31-9/14) is probably temporary and will update once they complete their review. However, if there was something in your interview or application that raised eligibility questions, they may maintain the disqualification. What you should do: 1. Check both your UI Online inbox AND your physical mail daily 2. Look for a Notice of Determination letter (this explains eligibility decisions) 3. If you don't receive anything within 3-5 business days, call EDD 4. If you receive a disqualification, you have 30 days to appeal Don't panic yet - the system often shows strange statuses during processing.

•Thank you for such a detailed explanation! I'll follow your advice and wait a few more days before trying to call. It's reassuring to know this might just be part of their normal processing. I'll keep an eye out for that Notice of Determination letter.

im going thru somthing similar & finally got to talk to somone yesterday... they said my disqualified weeks were bcuz they needed more info about my job separration. did your interviewer say they needed more info from u??

•The interviewer didn't specifically say she needed more information, but she did say she would be contacting my former employer to verify my layoff. Maybe that's what's happening in my case too.

Just to follow up - have you checked your Claim History page, not just your homepage? Sometimes the claim history will show pending payments even when the homepage shows disqualified. Also, double-check your Contact Preferences to make sure they have the correct mailing address and email on file.

•I just checked my Claim History page and it still shows those weeks as disqualified. I verified my contact information is correct too. I'm starting to think I should just call them directly to get a clear answer instead of trying to interpret these confusing status changes.

I had a similar situation back in January. After my phone interview, my status changed to "no weeks to certify" and my previous weeks showed as disqualified. I was worried like you, but about a week later, I received a Notice of Determination in the mail approving my claim, and my online status updated to allow certification again. The previously disqualified weeks were also retroactively approved. The key thing is that EDD processes often don't update in real-time on their website. Their system might show one status while they're still working on your claim behind the scenes. I'd recommend waiting until at least the 2-week mark after your interview before getting too concerned. If you don't see any updates by then, definitely call them. The phone lines are ridiculous, but morning calls (right when they open) on Tuesdays or Wednesdays seemed to work best for me.

•That's incredibly helpful to hear! It gives me hope that this might still work out. I'll wait until the full 2 weeks have passed since my interview before panicking. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I'm dealing with something very similar right now! My status also changed from "pending review" to "no weeks to certify" after my interview about a week ago. What's really frustrating is that EDD's online system seems to lag behind their actual processing. One thing I learned from calling (after many, many attempts) is that the "no weeks to certify" status doesn't necessarily mean your claim is denied - it often just means they've temporarily suspended certification while they complete their review process. The rep told me this is actually pretty common after eligibility interviews. Have you tried calling the 2511 number early in the morning? I had better luck getting through around 8:05 AM on weekdays. It's still a nightmare, but slightly better odds than calling later in the day. Keep checking your mail too - sometimes the determination letters arrive before the online system updates. Hang in there!

•Thank you so much for this reassurance! It's comforting to know I'm not the only one going through this exact situation. I'll definitely try calling the 2511 number early in the morning - I've been putting it off because I keep hearing horror stories about the wait times, but it sounds like I need to bite the bullet and just do it. Really appreciate you sharing the tip about 8:05 AM on weekdays, that's super specific and helpful!

I went through this exact same situation last year and I know how stressful it is! The "no weeks to certify" status after an eligibility interview is actually more common than you'd think - it doesn't automatically mean denial. What likely happened is that after your interview, they flagged your claim for additional review (probably verifying your layoff with your former employer like you mentioned). During this verification period, the system automatically stops allowing new certifications and keeps your existing weeks in "disqualified" status until they make a final decision. The good news is that if they approve your claim, those disqualified weeks will flip to "paid" retroactively, and you'll get all the back pay at once. The bad news is EDD's timeline of "10 days" is more like a suggestion than a guarantee. A few things to watch for: - Check your mail daily for a Notice of Determination - Look for any requests for additional documentation - If you hit the 3-week mark with no updates, definitely call Try not to stress too much (easier said than done, I know). The fact that they scheduled an interview instead of just denying you outright is actually a positive sign. They're taking the time to properly review your case rather than making a quick decision.

•This is exactly what I needed to hear right now! Your explanation makes so much sense - I was interpreting the "disqualified" status as a final decision when it's really just a temporary hold during their review process. The fact that those weeks could flip to "paid" retroactively is huge relief. I've been so worried about losing those two weeks of benefits entirely. Thank you for taking the time to explain this so clearly and for the reassurance that an interview is actually a positive sign rather than a bad one!

I'm going through the exact same thing right now and it's driving me crazy! Had my phone interview 8 days ago, status changed from "pending review" to "no weeks to certify" just like yours, and my first two weeks are still showing as disqualified. Reading through all these responses is actually really helpful - I had no idea this was such a common experience. I was convinced they had denied my claim without telling me. The explanation about the system temporarily suspending certification during their review process makes so much sense. One thing I noticed is that when I log into UI Online, there's sometimes a slight delay between different pages updating. Like my homepage might show "no weeks to certify" but if I click around to different sections, sometimes I can see slightly different status information. Not sure if that's helpful for anyone else, but thought I'd mention it. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - it's really reassuring to know this limbo period is normal and that those "disqualified" weeks can still get approved retroactively. Definitely going to try calling early morning if I don't hear anything by next week!

•I'm so glad I found this thread! I just went through my eligibility interview yesterday and was already starting to panic about what might happen next. Reading everyone's experiences here is such a relief - I had no idea that the "no weeks to certify" status was so common after interviews. @Romeo Barrett - you mentioned noticing delays between different pages updating in UI Online. I ve'noticed something similar even before my interview. Sometimes my claim balance would show differently on the homepage vs. the claim history page. It really seems like their system doesn t'sync up in real time. This community is amazing - thank you all for sharing your stories and helping newcomers like me understand what s'normal vs. what s'actually concerning. I feel so much more prepared for whatever status changes might happen over the next couple weeks!

I'm in almost the identical situation right now and this thread has been a lifesaver! Had my phone interview 6 days ago, and just like you my status went from "pending review" to "no weeks to certify" with my initial two weeks still showing as disqualified. I was absolutely convinced they had rejected my claim silently. What's really reassuring is hearing from @Omar Zaki and @Ella Harper that this happened to them too and their claims were eventually approved with retroactive payments. I had no idea the "disqualified" status could be temporary during their review process - I thought that was a final decision! The part about them needing to verify your layoff with your former employer really resonates with me. During my interview, the rep mentioned they would be doing "additional verification" but didn't specify what that meant. Now I'm wondering if they're just waiting to hear back from my previous company. I'm going to follow everyone's advice and wait the full two weeks before panicking, but it's so hard when rent is due and you're in this weird limbo! Thanks for posting this question - knowing I'm not alone in this confusing situation makes it much more bearable.

•@Mei Wong I m'so relieved to find others going through this exact same thing! I was starting to think there was something specifically wrong with my case, but it sounds like this no "weeks to certify limbo" is just how EDD s'system works during their review process. The waiting is absolutely brutal, especially when you re'counting on that money for basic expenses. I keep obsessively checking my UI Online account hoping something will change, but I m'trying to follow everyone s'advice about waiting the full two weeks before calling. It s'crazy how EDD doesn t'clearly communicate what these status changes mean. Like, a simple message saying Your "claim is under review, certification temporarily suspended would" save so much anxiety! Instead we re'all here trying to decode their confusing system together. Fingers crossed we all get good news soon. This community has been such a huge help in understanding that we re'not alone in this frustrating process!

I'm going through the exact same situation and this thread has been such a huge help! Had my eligibility interview 5 days ago, and my status also changed from "pending review" to "no weeks to certify" with my first two weeks stuck in "disqualified" status. What's been driving me crazy is that the EDD rep told me "7-10 business days" for a decision, but didn't explain what all these status changes would mean in the meantime. I was totally panicking thinking the disqualification was final! Reading everyone's experiences here - especially @Omar Zaki and @Ella Harper sharing that their disqualified weeks eventually flipped to "paid" retroactively - has given me so much hope. I had no idea this was such a common part of their review process. The hardest part is not knowing if I should be looking for work or planning my budget around potentially getting those benefits. The uncertainty is brutal when you're already stressed about finances. Thank you @LunarLegend for posting this question and everyone for sharing your stories. It's amazing how much better it feels knowing this confusing limbo period is normal and not just something wrong with my specific case!

•@Isaiah Sanders I m'right there with you! Just had my interview 3 days ago and seeing the exact same status changes - it s'such a relief to find this thread and realize we re'all going through this together. The uncertainty about budgeting and job searching is killing me too. Like, do I keep aggressively applying for jobs or wait to see if the benefits come through? What s'really frustrating is how EDD doesn t'give you any kind of roadmap for what to expect during this review period. A simple your "claim is being processed, expect these status changes would" save everyone so much stress! Instead we re'all here playing detective trying to figure out what their system means. I m'trying to stay patient and follow everyone s'advice about waiting the full 2 weeks, but it s'so hard when you re'checking your account multiple times a day hoping for an update. At least now I know that disqualified "might" not be permanent and those weeks could still get approved. This community is honestly a lifesaver for understanding EDD s'confusing process!

I'm going through this EXACT same thing right now and finding this thread has been such a relief! Had my eligibility interview 4 days ago, and just like everyone else here, my status changed from "pending review" to "no weeks to certify" with my initial weeks showing as disqualified. I was absolutely convinced they had denied my claim without any notification - the anxiety has been through the roof! But reading all these experiences, especially from people like @Omar Zaki and @Ella Harper who went through the same thing and eventually got approved with retroactive pay, has given me so much hope. What really gets me is how EDD gives you zero explanation for what these status changes actually mean during their review process. Like @Yuki Tanaka said, a simple "your claim is under review, certification temporarily suspended" message would prevent so much panic! Instead we're all here trying to decode their mysterious system together. The waiting is absolutely brutal when you're depending on these benefits for rent and groceries. I keep refreshing my UI Online account hoping something will change, but I'm going to try to follow everyone's advice and wait the full two weeks before calling. Thank you to everyone who shared their stories - knowing this confusing limbo is actually normal makes it so much more bearable. This community is amazing for helping newcomers understand EDD's frustrating process!

•@Leila Haddad I m'so glad you found this thread too! I m'actually in the exact same boat - had my interview just 2 days ago and already seeing the dreaded no "weeks to certify status" with my first two weeks stuck as disqualified. "I" was literally googling EDD "disqualified weeks after interview in" a panic when I stumbled across this discussion. It s'honestly mind-blowing how many of us are going through this identical experience right now! The fact that @Omar Zaki, @Ella Harper, and others have shared that their disqualified "weeks" eventually got approved retroactively is keeping me sane. I had no idea this was just part of their normal review process - I thought disqualified meant game over! You re'so right about EDD s'complete lack of communication. Like, would it kill them to add a simple status message explaining Claim "under review - certification temporarily suspended pending determination ?"Instead we re'all here stress-eating and refreshing our accounts every hour trying to figure out what s'happening! I m'going to try my hardest to wait the full 2 weeks like everyone suggests, but the financial stress is real. At least now I know I m'not alone in this confusing limbo - this community has been such a lifeline for understanding that this chaos is actually normal "for" EDD!
