DEO 'pending issue' for 8 weeks despite escalation - no payments and zero updates!
I'm at my wits end with the DEO system! My claim has been showing a 'pending issue' status since early March (about 8 weeks now) and I haven't received a SINGLE payment. Called the DEO two weeks ago after countless attempts and finally got through to a rep who promised my case would be 'escalated' with resolution within 5-7 business days. Big surprise - NOTHING has happened! The CONNECT portal still shows the same pending issue with zero updates or communications. The rep confirmed all my documentation was correct and that I've completed everything required on my end. I've submitted my 5 work searches every week without fail. My savings are completely drained at this point. Has anyone had a similar experience with these endless 'pending' statuses? How long did it actually take to get resolved and receive payment? Starting to think this 'escalation' process is just something they say to get us off the phone...

Same thing happened to me in January!! Took 11 weeks total for my 'pending issue' to resolve and I only got movement when my state rep got involved. The escalation promise is total BS - they told me the same thing THREE TIMES and nothing ever happened. Email your state representative with your claimant ID and contact info, they have special liaisons to DEO who can actually get things done. Don't wait any longer!!!

•Wow, 11 weeks?! That's insane. I didn't even think about contacting my state rep. Do they really help with this stuff? I'm in Broward County - did you just find them on Google or is there a specific process?

I work at CareerSource and see this all the time. The 'escalation' is real but severely backlogged. Here's what's happening: Your claim likely has an adjudication flag that requires manual review by a specialist. Right now, those specialists have thousands of cases and they process them in order received (with some exceptions). A few recommendations: 1. Keep claiming your weeks without fail (seems like you're doing this) 2. Check your CONNECT inbox daily for any fact-finding questionnaires 3. Make sure your ID.me verification is complete 4. Try calling again but specifically ask what the pending issue IS - they can see this in their system Knowing the specific issue might help you resolve it faster. Some issues (like employment verification) can be handled by regular agents while others (like separation issues) require adjudication.

•Thank you for the detailed explanation! I'll definitely call again and specifically ask about the nature of the pending issue. My ID.me verification is complete and I haven't received any questionnaires in my CONNECT inbox. It's just frustrating that they can't give any timeline - even a long one would be better than this uncertainty.

•Exactly! They hope people will just give up. The system isn't broken - it's working EXACTLY as designed to deny as many claims as possible.

Try Claimyr if you need to get through to a DEO agent again. I was in the same situation last month with pending issues for weeks and couldn't get through on the phone. Claimyr got me connected to an agent in about 20 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj that shows how it works. The agent I spoke with was actually able to fix my specific pending issue on the spot once I got through.

•Thanks, I'll check this out. At this point I'm willing to try anything. Did they explain what your pending issue was when you finally got through?

•Yeah, turns out it was a flag from my previous employer questioning my reason for separation. The agent was able to review the documentation I'd already submitted and clear it while I was on the phone. Not saying you'll have the same luck, but at least you'll get answers about what's happening instead of being in the dark. Their website is claimyr.com if you want to try it.

I had a similar pending issue that lasted 9 weeks. Turns out there was an income verification problem they never bothered to tell me about! Here's what finally worked for me: 1. Called at exactly 7:30am when they open (used my husband's phone too so I had 2 chances to get through) 2. Asked specifically for a tier 2 representative 3. Had them check what the specific pending issue was 4. Asked them to notate in my file that I had called multiple times 5. Requested supervisor escalation with a 72-hour callback Got payment 4 days later. Be VERY specific about requesting that 72-hour supervisory callback - it's an actual process they have but won't offer unless you specifically ask for it by name.

•this 72 hour callback thing - is that really a thing?? i've literally never heard any1 mention this before and i've been on florida unemployment twice

•Yes, it's absolutely real but they don't advertise it. It's technically called a "72-hour supervisory review request" and it has to be logged in their system by a tier 2 rep. It moves your case to a special queue. Not a guarantee, but it worked for me and two other people I know who were stuck in pending.

I want to clarify something important for everyone here - there are different TYPES of pending issues, and they have different resolution processes: 1. **Monetary issues**: Related to your wage determination, base period, etc. 2. **Non-monetary issues**: Including separation reason, availability, work search 3. **Identity verification issues**: Related to ID.me and fraud prevention 4. **Technical issues**: System flags and glitches that don't reflect actual problems Each has a different department handling it. That's why it's CRUCIAL to find out specifically what type of pending issue you have. Just knowing it's "pending" isn't enough information to determine the right course of action. When you call, ask them to tell you the exact issue code or type listed in the system.

•This is really helpful! I'll definitely ask for the specific issue code next time I call. Do certain types tend to be resolved faster than others?

•Yes, technical issues can often be fixed immediately by the right agent. Identity verification issues usually resolve within 1-2 weeks once properly submitted. Monetary issues typically take 3-4 weeks. The non-monetary issues (especially employer disputes) are the ones that can drag on for months if they go to full adjudication. That's why knowing which type you have is so important for setting expectations and pursuing the right resolution path.

Update: I finally got through to DEO this morning (called right at 7:30am and waited 45 mins). The rep told me my pending issue is a 'wage verification' problem because my previous employer reported different quarterly wages than what I claimed. They said this requires adjudication but she marked it for 'expedited review' since it's been pending so long. She said to expect 7-10 more business days. I'm not holding my breath based on everyone's experiences here, but at least I know what the issue is now. Will try the 72-hour supervisory review request too if nothing happens in a week. Thanks for all the advice everyone!

•That's progress! Wage verification issues are actually easier to resolve than separation disputes, so there's hope. Make sure you have pay stubs or bank statements showing your deposits ready to upload if they request them. And definitely follow up with that 72-hour review request if nothing happens by next Friday. Fingers crossed for you!
