DEO claims stuck without adjudicator since November - promised assignment 2 weeks ago but still nothing

I've been in adjudication limbo with DEO since early November and it's now mid-February. After WEEKS of busy signals and disconnects, I finally reached someone at DEO about 2 weeks ago who told me my claims were never even sent to an adjudicator (!!!) despite being in 'pending' status for MONTHS. The rep said they personally assigned my account to an adjudicator right then and promised I'd have resolution within 7 days. It's now been over 14 days and nothing has changed - no updates in CONNECT, no payments, and now I'm back to being unable to get through on the phone again. My rent is due in 2 weeks and I'm completely out of savings. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is there anything I can do to actually get my case reviewed? Starting to panic...

This happened to me last month! After calling 47 times (literally counted), I learned my claim was marked as 'pending adjudication' but wasn't actually assigned to a real person. The agent I finally spoke with was shocked it had been sitting there for so long. They promised a 7-day resolution too but mine took 23 days after that call to finally process. The system is completely broken - they claim they're handling cases in order but clearly aren't. Keep calling every single day, especially right when they open. That's the only way to get movement.

23 days?? I can't wait that long! Did you do anything specific during those 23 days to move things along, or just wait? I've already eaten through my emergency fund waiting for these benefits...

Yes, I did the ID.me verification back in October when I first applied. My account shows 'identity verified' in the CONNECT system, so I don't think that's the issue. Thanks for the suggestion though!

The DEO's internal workflow is a mess right now. I went through something similar in December/January. What helped me was: 1) Call your state representative's office and ask for help with your DEO claim - they have special contacts, 2) Send a detailed email to DEO.Urgent@deo.myflorida.com with your claimant ID, last 4 of SSN, and timeline of your case, 3) When calling DEO, specifically ask for a 'supervisor callback' - regular agents often make promises they can't keep. Adjudication is taking 45-60+ days for many people right now, and that only starts once you're actually assigned to an adjudicator. If your claim involves separation issues or income verification, it takes even longer.

Thank you so much for these specific suggestions! I'll email that address today and contact my rep tomorrow. Do you know if requesting the supervisor callback actually works? I've tried that twice and was told 'they'll call back within 48 hours' but never received any calls.

I kno this sounds crazy but have u tried calling right at 7:29am? Thats 1 minute before they officially open and sometimes u can get in the queue before everyone else. Worked for me twice!! Also make sure ur claim says 'active' not 'pending-inactive' because inactive claims don't get processed NO MATTER WHAT the DEO people say!!!!!

I haven't tried the 7:29 trick, but I'll definitely give it a shot tomorrow! My claim does show 'Active' status, so at least that's not the issue. Thanks for the tip!

After dealing with similar frustrations trying to reach DEO for weeks, I tried a service called Claimyr that actually worked for me. They have a system that holds your place in the phone queue and calls you when an agent is available. Saved me from the endless redial nightmare. Their demo video at https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj shows how it works. I was skeptical but it got me through to a real person who was able to escalate my issue.

THE DEO IS DELIBERATELY SLOW-WALKING CLAIMS!!!! Been dealing with them for 3 years and its ALWAYS the same excuse about 'adjudication' and 'we'll call you back' and NOTHING EVER HAPPENS. They hope you'll get tired and give up or find a job so they don't have to pay you. My advice - DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Every call, every promise, every name. Then when you finally get your benefits (IF you do), file a complaint with the DOL about how long it took. It's the only way the system will change.

Agree 100%. I'm still waiting on back payments from 2022 that were supposed to be 'expedited'. What a joke.

One more important thing - make sure you're continuing to claim your weeks even while waiting for adjudication. I've seen too many people wait for adjudication to complete only to find out they missed claiming periods and lost potential benefits. The DEO won't remind you to do this.

Yes, I've been religiously claiming my weeks every two weeks. The CONNECT system shows 9 weeks of 'pending' payments now. It's so frustrating seeing them all stacked up with no movement.

Quick update on my situation - I finally got through to DEO using the Claimyr service I mentioned. The agent confirmed my claim was assigned to an adjudicator, but said the estimated time to complete review is currently 14-21 business days from assignment date. She also said escalating to a supervisor wouldn't speed things up because they're processing in batches by assignment date. Hope this helps give you a realistic timeline.

That's super helpful, thank you! I appreciate the realistic timeline. I might try Claimyr tomorrow if I can't get through using the 7:29am trick someone else suggested. At this point, I just need to know what's happening with my claim.

Has anyone tried the Florida Senate office for help with DEO issues? My coworker said they resolved her 3-month stuck claim in less than a week after she contacted her state senator's office. Might be worth a shot if the state rep doesn't help.

my brother did this!!!! senator's office fixed his claim in 4 days after being stuck for almost 3 months. def worth trying both rep and senator

Update: I tried calling at 7:29am today and actually got through after being on hold for about 45 minutes! The agent confirmed my claim WAS assigned to an adjudicator on February 1st, but said they're currently working on claims from mid-January. She estimated it would be another 2-3 weeks before mine is reviewed. I also emailed the urgent address and plan to contact my state rep tomorrow. Thanks everyone for your advice - at least I have some actual information now instead of being completely in the dark.

That's great progress! At least now you have a timeline and confirmation that your claim is actually in the system. The 7:29am trick really does work - I've used it successfully three times now. While you're waiting for the adjudication, definitely follow through with contacting your state rep as backup. Some people have had luck getting their claims expedited that way. Keep us posted on how it goes!
