DEO adjudication delay pushing 6 weeks - still on hold with no answer
I've been stuck in adjudication limbo with DEO for almost 6 weeks now and it's driving me crazy! I initially answered their fact-finding questions about why I wasn't back at work yet (construction project got delayed another 3 months), and that was 6 weeks ago. My CONNECT account has shown 'pending adjudication' for the last 4 weeks with zero movement or updates. I can't even get through to anyone on the phone - just constant busy signals or it hangs up after I wait on hold for an hour. Has anyone else experienced these ridiculous wait times recently? Is there ANYTHING I can do to get someone to look at my claim?? Bills are piling up and I'm getting seriously worried.

Unfortunately adjudication delays are pretty common with DEO right now. I was in adjudication for 7 weeks before mine finally got resolved. It seems like they're severely understaffed in that department. Have you tried calling right when they open at 7:30am? Sometimes that's the only way to get through.

•I've tried calling at opening time three times this week! Still nothing but busy signals and disconnects. It's like they're deliberately making it impossible to reach a human being.

I HATE THE DEO SO MUCH!!!!! Been dealing with these idiots for months now. My adjudication took 9 WEEKS to resolve and then they had the nerve to say I didn't submit documents I DEFINITELY submitted!!!! The system is DESIGNED to make you give up. Don't let them win!!!

•While I understand your frustration, sometimes documents don't upload properly in CONNECT. Always take screenshots of confirmation pages and document IDs when you submit anything. Also, check your "Determination, Pending Issues and Decision Summary" page to see if there's any specific issue they're reviewing - that might give you a clue about what's holding things up.

•That's exactly what I'm afraid of - that I'll never get the benefits I'm entitled to. I've been applying everywhere but nothing's coming through yet. Can't believe the system is this broken.

The adjudication process is definitely frustrating, but there are a few things you can try: 1. Check your "Determination, Pending Issues and Decision Summary" page in CONNECT to identify the specific issue they're reviewing 2. Send a message through the CONNECT portal (though responses are slow) 3. Email your state representative - this actually works surprisingly well as they can escalate your case 4. Contact your local CareerSource office - they sometimes have direct connections to DEO staff The construction delay should be a valid reason for continued benefits, but they often need additional verification. If you have any documentation from your employer about the delay, upload it proactively to your documents section.

•Thank you for these suggestions! I checked the Pending Issues page and it shows "Ability to Work" as the issue. I have documentation from my employer about the construction delay - I'll upload that right away. I'll also try contacting my state rep today.

After dealing with the same adjudication nightmare (mine was 5 weeks), I finally got through to a DEO agent using Claimyr - it's this service that gets you through to an actual DEO representative. Totally worth it since it saved me from driving 3 hours to a CareerSource office. You can check it out at claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj. The agent I spoke with was able to see exactly what was holding up my adjudication and escalated it that day. Got my determination letter 2 days later.

•Is this legit??? I'm suspicious of ANY service claiming to help with unemployment - there are so many SCAMS out there targeting desperate people!!

•I was skeptical too, but it's legit. It's not a service that handles your claim - they just connect you with actual DEO agents so you don't waste hours redialing. You still talk directly with DEO, they just get you past the busy signals and disconnects.

Hey all, so i'm not on unemployment anymore (thank god lol) but when I was dealing with adjudication last year the magic trick was emailing my state rep!!! seriously they have staff who deal with this stuff all day. google "florida state representative" + your address and you'll find yours. send them your claimant ID and birthdate and a brief explanation. my claim was magically fixed within 48 hrs after being stuck for weeks!!!!

•That's amazing! I just looked up my state rep and found their contact info. Going to email them right now with my details. Fingers crossed this works!

is ur claim regular unemployment (RA) or disaster unemployment? cuz those r different departments & have diff timeframes. also check if ur employer is contesting ur claim, that makes adjudication take wayyyyyy longer. u can see that in connect somewhere

•It's regular unemployment (RA). Good point about the employer contesting - I hadn't thought of that. I'll see if I can find that info in CONNECT. My employer seemed supportive but who knows what happens behind the scenes.

Just an update on what's currently working in 2025 - I had to go through adjudication last month and I found that emailing DEO.Determinations@deo.myflorida.com with your claimant ID in the subject line can sometimes get attention. Make sure to explain that you've been waiting 6+ weeks. Also, the "escalation" email is still RA.Escalations@deo.myflorida.com - but only use that if you've already tried the determinations email first. Hope this helps!

•Thank you for these specific email addresses! I'm going to email both today. Would you suggest including any particular information besides my claimant ID and the waiting time?

•Yes, include your full name, last 4 of SSN, phone number, and a BRIEF explanation of your situation. Don't make it too long or they might skip it. Also, attach any relevant documents that prove your situation (like the letter from your employer about the construction delay).

UPDATE: I want to thank everyone for their help! I followed several suggestions: 1) Emailed my state rep with all my info, 2) Used Claimyr to actually reach a DEO agent (finally!), and 3) Uploaded the construction delay documentation from my employer to CONNECT. The agent I spoke with saw that my adjudication was assigned but sitting in a backlog. She escalated it, and my state rep's office also contacted DEO. Got my determination letter yesterday - APPROVED! Payments should be coming in the next few days including all the back weeks. Such a relief!

•That's great news! Glad to hear you got it resolved. This is exactly why it's important to try multiple approaches simultaneously with DEO - you never know which one will break through the logjam. Congrats on your persistence paying off!
