DEO ignoring my claim for 8 weeks - contacted my rep but still no response!
I'm at my wit's end with DEO! My claim has been stuck 'pending adjudication' for EIGHT WEEKS now with absolutely zero movement. I've called literally 40+ times (always disconnected), left messages on their callback system, and emailed through the CONNECT portal 3 times. Last week I finally emailed my state representative as people suggested, and I got an automatic response saying they received it. It's been 9 days and crickets - nothing from them either! What's a person supposed to do when literally no one will help?? I have bills piling up, my landlord is getting impatient, and I feel like I'm screaming into the void. Does ANYONE actually care about claimants? This system is completely broken. Has anyone managed to get through to a real human being at DEO lately??

I was in your exact situation last month. My claim was stuck for 6 weeks and it felt like I was invisible to DEO. What finally worked for me was using a service called Claimyr. It's basically a system that holds your place in the DEO phone queue and calls you back when they get an agent on the line. I was skeptical at first but got desperate enough to try it. The video demo convinced me: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj. Within a day I was actually talking to a real DEO agent who could see that my adjudication was for 'voluntary quit' even though I was laid off! She escalated it to a supervisor and my payments were approved 3 days later. Might be worth checking out their site (claimyr.com).

•Thank you so much for the suggestion! I've never heard of this service before. At this point I'm desperate enough to try anything that might actually get me talking to a human at DEO. I'll check out that video. Did they actually fix your issue on that first call or did you have to do multiple calls?

DEO is the WORST!!! Been there done that got the t-shirt. They don't care AT ALL about us regular people. I waited 12 weeks last year and ended up having to take a minimum wage job cause my savings ran out. Then guess what? They finally approved me AFTER I found work and tried to disqualify me for 'not being available for work' when I reported my new hours. THE SYSTEM IS RIGGED!!!!

•Omg that's horrible! I'm so sorry that happened to you. I'm terrified of the same thing happening to me. I've been applying to everything I can find but no callbacks yet. So if I do get a job, will they try to deny all my back weeks too??

•I've tried calling at 7:29, 7:30, 7:31... and every hour after that. Either busy signal or the automated system hangs up after saying they're experiencing high call volume. I'll keep trying though. Maybe I'll get lucky eventually.

A few important points that might help: 1) Adjudication delays are frustrating but normal right now. DEO is severely understaffed in their adjudication department. Most claims with issues are taking 6-10 weeks to resolve. 2) When you contacted your representative, did you include your full name, claimant ID, last 4 of SSN, date of birth, and a clear description of your issue? If not, their staff can't do much to help. Email them again with this information. 3) Do you know what the specific issue requiring adjudication is? Look at your "Determination, Pending Issues and Decision Summary" page in CONNECT. The specific issue matters because some take longer than others. 4) Keep claiming your weeks on time even while waiting for adjudication. If you miss claiming weeks, you could lose eligibility for those payments even if your issue gets resolved. 5) Make sure you're completing and reporting 5 work searches each week unless you have a specific exemption. Hang in there - it's frustrating but most claims do eventually get resolved.

•Thank you for this detailed response! I did include all my personal info in the email to my rep, so they should be able to look me up. The pending issue is listed as "Discharge - Misconduct" which is completely false - I was laid off due to department downsizing and have the termination letter stating exactly that. I've been claiming weeks religiously and doing way more than 5 work searches every week. It's just so stressful not knowing when or if this will be resolved.

I went through something similar back in January with my claim. "Discharge - Misconduct" is actually one of the slower adjudication types because they have to contact your former employer and get their side before making a determination. In my case, my former employer didn't respond to DEO's inquiries for weeks, which prolonged everything. Since you have documentation showing you were laid off, make sure you've uploaded that termination letter to your CONNECT account under "Document Upload Services." Also, when you finally get through to someone, mention you have this documentation specifically. I know it feels like no one cares, but there are actually some good people working at DEO - they're just completely overwhelmed. Keep trying different contact methods. What worked for me was going in person to my local CareerSource office - they have direct lines to DEO that can sometimes help escalate issues.

•That's really helpful information, thank you. I didn't realize they were contacting my former employer - that makes more sense now. I uploaded my termination letter when I first applied, but I'll double-check it's still there. I didn't even think about CareerSource having direct lines to DEO. There's one about 30 minutes from me, so I'll try going there tomorrow. Literally anything is worth a shot at this point.

•Thanks for the encouragement. Did your cousin do anything special to get it resolved or did it just randomly start working?

Had same issue with the "Discharge - Misconduct" hold on my account. It's because your employer likely reported a different reason for separation than you did. In my case, I had to wait for a phone interview with an adjudicator, which wasn't scheduled until week 7. After the interview where I explained my situation and provided my documentation, it was resolved in about 4 days and I received all my back payments. One thing I learned - there's actually a separate adjudication phone number that's different from the main DEO line: (321) 754-9289. Sometimes you can get through there when the main line is jammed. If you can reach an adjudicator directly, they can often help or at least tell you where your claim stands in the process.

•Thank you so much for this! I had no idea there was a separate adjudication number. I'm going to try calling it first thing tomorrow morning. Did you just explain your situation to whoever answered, or did you need to provide specific information first? I really appreciate the help!

@original poster - to answer your question from earlier, yes, they resolved my issue on the first call through Claimyr. The key was that I finally got to speak with an actual adjudicator rather than a general customer service rep. The adjudicator could see all the notes on my file and noticed my employer hadn't responded to their inquiry (which was holding everything up). She was able to proceed with just my documentation since the employer missed their deadline to respond. By the way, the misconduct issue is exactly what I had too - seems like a common problem when companies do layoffs but don't communicate properly with DEO.

•That's incredibly helpful to know. I'm going to try the adjudication direct number that someone else posted first, and if that doesn't work, I'll definitely try Claimyr. I just need to get this resolved ASAP - I'm getting desperate. Thank you again for your help!

just so you know representative offices are slammed with DEO cases right now my girlfriends sister works for a state rep and they get like 50+ unemployment emails every single day so it might take them awhile to get to yours

•That makes sense, though it's depressing to hear. I guess I'm just one of thousands dealing with the same problems. I'll try to be patient with the rep's office while exploring these other options people have suggested.
