8 months on 'Pending' status with DEO - not a single payment processed!
I'm at my wits end with this DEO nightmare. Filed my initial claim way back in February and it's now OCTOBER and still haven't received a SINGLE PAYMENT. My CONNECT account has been saying 'Pending' for 32 weeks straight! I've successfully claimed every 2 weeks like clockwork, completed all the required 5 work searches per week, verified through ID.me months ago, and NOTHING. Calling the 1-800 number is completely useless - either busy signal or the automated system hangs up after telling me about 'high call volume'. I've sent at least 15 emails through their contact portal and all I get back are generic 'we received your inquiry' responses. No actual help! My savings are completely gone and I'm about to lose my apartment. How is it possible to be waiting for 8 MONTHS with zero communication from DEO? Has anyone else been stuck this long? How did you finally get your claim processed? I'm desperate for any advice on how to actually talk to a real human at DEO who can tell me what's wrong with my claim!

Same boat here. Been pending since march. Finally got through to an agent last week who said my claim is stuck in adjudication but couldnt tell me WHY or when it would be resolved. its a total joke. tried the legislative route but my state rep never got back to me either.

•Did you just keep calling over and over until you got through? I've tried calling 20+ times a day and NEVER get past the automated system.

8 months is completely unacceptable even by Florida DEO standards! Your claim is definitely stuck in what they call 'indefinite adjudication' which means there's an issue flagged on your account that needs manual review, but it hasn't been assigned to an adjudicator yet. The most common reasons are: 1. Employment separation discrepancy (how you left your job vs what employer reported) 2. Income verification issue 3. Work search compliance flag 4. Identity verification not fully processed The problem is you won't know which one until someone actually looks at your claim. You NEED to speak with a tier 2 agent who can see the specific hold code and potentially clear it.

•Thank you for explaining this! Do you know how to get to a tier 2 agent specifically? I've been desperate to talk to ANYONE at this point.

•Wow what an incredibly helpful suggestion 🙄 Because clearly people trying to get the unemployment THEY PAID INTO through their previous jobs just want to sit around collecting free money. Didn't you notice OP mentioned they've been doing all the required work searches? Maybe try having some compassion.

I finally got my claim fixed after 4 months of pending by using Claimyr to get through to DEO. It's basically a service that calls DEO for you and connects you when they get through to an agent. I was super skeptical but desperate enough to try. Cost me some money but I was connected to a real person in about 25 minutes instead of spending weeks trying to get through. The agent saw that my claim had been flagged for "employment separation inconsistency" which I was able to clear up right away. Website is claimyr.com and they have a demo video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj DEO's system is completely broken if you have to pay a third party just to talk to them, but after months of frustration, it was worth it to finally get my backpay.

•I've never heard of this service but at this point I'd try ANYTHING. Did they tell you exactly what was holding up your claim when you finally got through? And were you able to get all your backpay for the months you were waiting?

Yes, they told me exactly what was wrong! My former employer had reported that I quit voluntarily (which would make me ineligible) when actually I was laid off due to downsizing. Once I explained this and they verified with some documentation I provided, they removed the hold. And yes, I did get ALL my backpay - took about 2 weeks after that call for everything to process and then all 16 weeks worth of payments hit my account at once. The agent was able to see all the specific codes on my account that I could never see through CONNECT.

•I used Claimyr too and it took me like 50 min to get through but was WAY better than the hundreds of calls I made on my own. My issue was different tho - I had "wage verification" issue. They needed my 2022 W2 again even tho I uploaded it twice already lol. DEO is so incompetent.

Look, I worked for DEO as a contractor during 2021-2022, and I can tell you the inside scoop: claims that stay pending that long are usually stuck in a special queue that NEVER gets reviewed unless you force the issue. The regular adjudicators are only assigned claims from the last 60 days - anything older gets pushed to a "backlog team" that's severely understaffed. You need to do THREE things immediately: 1. Contact your state representative AND state senator (find them at myfloridahouse.gov) - they have special DEO liaisons 2. File a formal complaint with DEO's Inspector General office - this triggers a mandatory review 3. Get through to a tier 2 agent (regular agents can't help with claims in adjudication over 90 days) The system is DESIGNED to wear people down so they give up. Don't give up!

•Thank you SO MUCH for this insider info! I had no idea about the Inspector General complaint option. I'll do all three of these things tomorrow. It's infuriating that they have a system designed to make people give up on money they're legally entitled to.

I want to make sure you're aware of something important: in Florida, you only have ONE YEAR from your initial claim date to collect benefits owed to you. If your claim has been pending since February and it's now October, you're getting close to that deadline. After the one-year mark, any unpaid benefits from the beginning of your claim may be forfeited permanently. This is called the "benefit year expiration" rule and DEO strictly enforces it. I've seen people wait 13-14 months only to find out they lost months of payments they were entitled to because they waited too long. ESCALATE THIS IMMEDIATELY through multiple channels. The Inspector General complaint that someone else mentioned is crucial. Also, be very specific when you finally reach an agent - ask them to check for "determination holds" and request an "immediate escalation to a claims supervisor due to pending duration."

•This is such important info that DEO conveniently never tells anyone! They let claims sit for a year knowing full well people might lose their rights to that money. Criminal behavior if you ask me.

•Will do! I'm going to try reaching out to my state rep tomorrow and also try that Claimyr service someone mentioned. I'll post back what happens. This whole system is so broken.
