DEO claim stuck 'application being processed' for 7 months despite ID.me verification
I'm beyond frustrated with this DEO nightmare. Filed my initial claim in August 2024 (7 months ago) and my CONNECT account STILL shows 'application being processed.' I've verified my identity through ID.me THREE separate times - in September, November, and again in January 2025. My account was actually unlocked back in December after being mysteriously locked, and I've claimed 14 weeks since then. Yet every time I log in, nothing has changed! Still stuck on 'application being processed.' No payments, no determinations, nothing. How is this even legal after 7 MONTHS? Has anyone managed to get through this ridiculous limbo state? I've tried calling at least 40 times but either get disconnected or told 'someone will contact you' (spoiler alert: nobody ever does). I'm about to lose my apartment next month if this doesn't resolve soon.

That's absolutely ridiculous but unfortunately not uncommon with Florida DEO. The 'application being processed' status usually means you're stuck in adjudication, probably for income verification or separation reason. After calling daily for weeks with no luck, I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to a live agent. They have a system that essentially waits on hold for you and calls when an agent is available. I was skeptical at first but it worked - got connected in about 2 hours and finally got my claim moving. They have a demo video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj. The agent told me my claim had been flagged for 'employer response review' but had simply never been assigned to an adjudicator. They escalated it after our call.

•Thanks for the tip. Did they actually fix your issue or just tell you they would? I'm skeptical at this point because I've heard 'we'll escalate this' about 5 times already with zero results. How long after your call did your status finally change?

same happened 2 me last year!! the thing is w DEO, if ANYTHING looks off on ur application they put u in limbo and dont tell u why. had 2 make state representative get involved thru district office. call ur local state rep and fill out privacy form, they can make DEO respond within 7-10 days usualy

•I didn't even think of contacting my state rep! That's a great idea. Do you just call their office directly or is there a specific process for unemployment issues?

It's infuriating how DEO treats people! 7 months is completely unacceptable - the system is DESIGNED to frustrate people into giving up. I was stuck for 5 months last year with the exact same 'application processing' status. Turns out there was a wage dispute that nobody bothered to tell me about. My former employer reported different quarterly wages than what I had documented. The absolutely INSANE part? DEO never notified me or my employer about the discrepancy. They just silently put my claim in adjudication purgatory. Here's what finally worked for me: 1. Contact your state representative (as someone else mentioned) 2. File a formal complaint with DEO's Inspector General office 3. Email Dane.Eagle@deo.myflorida.com (he's the DEO Secretary) with your claim ID and contact info 4. Include "URGENT: 7 MONTH DELAY IN PROCESSING" in subject line DO ALL FOUR AT ONCE. It took about 2 weeks after doing this, but my claim suddenly started moving. The key is creating enough noise through multiple channels.

•Is Dane Eagle still the Secretary? I thought he stepped down and they got someone new running DEO?

The "application being processed" status with no movement typically means one of four things: 1. You have a pending adjudication issue that requires manual review (separation reason, income verification, availability for work, etc.) 2. There's a technical flag on your account (often happens with multiple ID.me verifications) 3. Your former employer disputed something on your claim 4. Your claim is caught in the "quarterly wage review" process After 7 months, this is clearly a system failure. DEO is required by federal guidelines to process claims within 21 days. Have you tried requesting a formal determination? Log into CONNECT, click on "Determination, Pending Issues and Decision Summary" and see if there are any issues listed. If not, try sending a message through the CONNECT portal specifically asking for the status of your adjudication and requesting an immediate determination. Use those exact words.

•Thank you for the detailed response! I checked the "Determination, Pending Issues and Decision Summary" section and there's actually nothing there - it's completely blank which seems weird after 7 months. I'll try sending that specific message through the portal tonight. Should I also try to upload any additional documentation or just send the message?

I know EXACTLY what you're going through!!! My claim was stuck for 5 months in the same status. Here's what you need to know - the system is BROKEN BY DESIGN. They hope you'll just give up. I finally got mine fixed after I sent a desperate email to every DEO email I could find AND contacted my state rep AND threatened to contact the media. Magically, two days later I got a call from a "special claims processor" who fixed everything in 10 minutes. THEY CAN FIX IT FAST WHEN THEY WANT TO! Don't give up! This is YOUR MONEY that you're entitled to by law. The fact that you've claimed 14 weeks shows you're doing everything right. The failure is 100% on DEO's side.

To update on my earlier comment - after using Claimyr to finally reach someone, it took about 3 weeks for my status to change from 'application being processed' to actual payments. The agent did need to escalate it to a supervisor, and I had to call again once more to check on progress. The issue in my case turned out to be that my former employer never responded to DEO's request for information, and instead of following up or making a determination, they just let my claim sit indefinitely. The key was getting to someone with authority to actually review the claim. Most regular agents can only see the status but can't take action. Ask specifically for a 'claim escalation' or to speak with a 'determination specialist.'

•That's actually really helpful to know. 3 weeks sounds like an eternity right now, but compared to 7 months it's nothing. I'm going to try all of these approaches - the state rep, the Claimyr service, and the escalation emails all at once. Something has to work. Did you have to pay anything upfront for the Claimyr thing?

One other thing to try - send a formal appeal letter via certified mail to DEO headquarters stating you are appealing the "implied denial" of your claim due to excessive delay. Quote Florida Administrative Code 73B-11.022 which requires timely determination of claims. This forces them to either approve your claim or formally deny it (which then gives you clear appeal rights). The legal department sometimes responds faster than regular claims processing.

Just thought of something important to ask - have you been regularly claiming your weeks every two weeks without fail? If you miss even one biweekly claiming period, it can completely mess up the system. Also, are you on regular Reemployment Assistance or were you applying for one of the special programs? The requirements and processing are different.

•Yes, I've claimed every single week without missing any. I'm on regular Reemployment Assistance - I was laid off from my full-time job last summer when the company downsized. I've even been doing all the required work searches (5 per week) and documenting everything perfectly. That's what makes this so frustrating!

Based on everything you've shared, I'm almost certain your claim is stuck in what's called "automated adjudication limbo" - it's a known issue in the CONNECT system where claims that trigger certain review flags never actually get assigned to human adjudicators. The good news is that once you manage to get a human to actually look at your claim, these are often resolved quickly. A few more specific suggestions: 1. When you contact your state representative, ask specifically for them to submit a "DEO Legislative Inquiry" on your behalf 2. When using the CONNECT message center, use the subject line "URGENT: Claim in Processing Status for 7 Months - Request for Immediate Determination" 3. If you do try calling, the best times are Tuesday-Thursday between 7:30-8:00am right when they open 4. Make sure to check your spam/junk folders regularly - sometimes DEO fact-finding questionnaires end up there, and not responding to them will keep your claim stuck Hang in there - this will eventually get resolved with persistence.

•Automated adjudication limbo is real! I had a friend stuck in it for 11 months!!! The system is completely busted.
