DEO only released one week payment while holding the other - what happens to held week?

I'm totally stressed about my husband's unemployment situation. He got approved for Regular Unemployment (not PUA) and claimed two weeks last Friday. The weird thing is DEO only released payment for one week ($275) and the other week shows $0 with 'on hold' status in CONNECT. This happened once before in early 2025 and they randomly mailed his waiting week payment as a paper check instead of direct deposit. We're so confused about what happens with this second week this time. Will they mail it separately each time? Is it just gone? Is this normal? The CONNECT dashboard is so confusing and the one payment we got went through direct deposit like normal. Has anyone dealt with this 'one week paid, one week on hold' issue before?

OMG this happened 2 me also!! The hold week is prob waiting for adjudication. They do this alot when they need 2 verify something with ur hubby's claim. did he get any messages in his inbox saying they need more info?

No messages in his inbox at all! That's why we're so confused. It just says 'on hold' with no explanation. Do you know how long adjudication usually takes? We're counting on that money.

This is a common issue with Florida's DEO system. When one week shows as "on hold" while another is paid, it typically means one of several things: 1. There might be a work search verification issue for that specific week 2. They could be reviewing eligibility for just that week (maybe earnings were reported?) 3. Sometimes it's a system flag for random verification Check your husband's CONNECT account under "Determinations, Pending Issues and Decision Summary" to see if there's any fact-finding or adjudication pending. If there's nothing there, call DEO directly to ask about the specific hold reason. The previous paper check situation was likely your waiting week being released after a determination was made. This situation sounds different.

Thank you! We checked that section and there's nothing showing up under pending issues. No fact-finding either. So frustrating! We'll try calling them, but it's impossible to get through...

Had the exact same issue last month! For me, the week on hold ended up being released about 10 days later. They were verifying my work search activities even though I didn't get any notification about it. When I finally got through to a DEO agent, they explained the hold was an "automated review" and nothing I needed to worry about. If you need to reach DEO quickly without the constant busy signals, I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through. They have this system that holds your place in line and calls you when an agent is available. Saved me hours of redial frustration. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj The agent told me sometimes weeks go on hold randomly for system checks, and as long as everything is in order with the claim, it will release automatically.

Is Claimyr legit? I keep seeing ppl mention it but im suspicious of any service that says they can get u thru 2 DEO when nobody else can... How much did u pay?

My held week payment showed up as a paper check in my mailbox with zero explanation. DEO is weird like that sometimes. Just keep an eye on your mail for a couple weeks.

That's so strange! Did they ever update the status in CONNECT or did it just stay as 'on hold' even after you got the check?

THE DEO SYSTEM IS BROKEN BY DESIGN!!! They deliberately put random weeks on hold to delay payments and save money. I've been dealing with this garbage for MONTHS!! Even when you call they give different answers every time. One agent told me the hold was for "income verification" then another said it was for "work search review" and a third said it was a "system glitch" - THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW! If your husband answered ANYTHING slightly different on his two weekly claim forms, that can trigger a hold. Did he report any income on one week but not the other? Did he apply to 5 jobs exactly each week? ANY tiny difference can cause this! My advice - keep calling until you get someone who actually knows what they're doing (maybe 1 in 10 agents). The DEO is a MESS and they DON'T CARE about our suffering!!

He reported exactly the same for both weeks - no income and all 5 work searches each week. This is ridiculous! I'm so sorry you've been dealing with this for months. How do you manage to get through on the phone at all?

just wait it out. my husband had weeks on hold then they all came through at once like 3 weeks later. deo systems suck but they eventually pay what they owe.

That's somewhat reassuring, thanks. We just hate the uncertainty of not knowing when/if it will come through.

I wanted to add one more thing - check if your husband's claim is near the end of his benefit year. Sometimes when you're approaching the end of your benefit year, the system will put weeks on hold as part of a re-verification process. This is actually more common than many people realize. Also, if this continues to be an issue, you can request monetary reconsideration through CONNECT. Go to: 1. Determination, Pending Issues and Decision Summary 2. Click on the relevant determination (if there is one) 3. Select "Request Monetary Reconsideration" This sometimes prompts the system to review held payments faster.

His benefit year just started in January, so I don't think that's the issue. But I'll definitely try the monetary reconsideration option - didn't know about that! Thank you for the detailed help.

Actually yes! You won't believe this but the payment just showed up on his Way2Go card this morning - a full 3 weeks after it went on hold. Still shows 'on hold' in CONNECT though. The system is so messed up! Thanks everyone for your help!

Glad to hear you finally got the payment! This is exactly what I've seen happen multiple times - the payment gets released but CONNECT never updates to show it properly. It's like their payment system and their website don't talk to each other at all. For anyone else dealing with this issue, Luca's experience shows that sometimes you just have to wait it out. Three weeks seems to be pretty typical for these random holds to resolve themselves. The frustrating part is there's usually no rhyme or reason to it, and DEO rarely gives you any heads up about what's happening. Keep checking your payment method (direct deposit or Way2Go card) even when CONNECT still shows "on hold" - that seems to be the most reliable way to know if the money actually came through.

This is so helpful to know! I'm dealing with a similar situation right now where my payment has been on hold for 2 weeks. It's reassuring to hear that the money can come through even when CONNECT doesn't update properly. I'll start checking my Way2Go card more frequently instead of just relying on what the website says. Thanks for sharing this insight!

As someone new to this community, I just wanted to say how helpful this thread has been! I'm currently going through the unemployment process myself and had no idea that payments could come through even when CONNECT shows "on hold." Reading about everyone's experiences really highlights how unpredictable the DEO system can be. It's both frustrating and reassuring to know that others have dealt with similar issues and eventually received their payments, even if it took weeks. For those still waiting on held payments, it sounds like the key takeaways are: 1) Check your actual payment method regularly, not just CONNECT status, 2) Be prepared to wait 2-3 weeks for resolution, and 3) Don't panic if there are no pending issues showing in your account - it might just be an automated system review. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences here - it really helps newcomers like me understand what to expect!

Welcome to the community, Freya! Your summary is really spot-on and will definitely help other newcomers who find this thread. It's amazing how much collective wisdom gets shared here when people are dealing with the same frustrating DEO issues. I'd add one more tip based on what I've learned from reading through all these experiences - it might be worth documenting everything (screenshots of CONNECT status, dates payments were supposed to come through, etc.) just in case you need to reference it later when dealing with DEO agents. The inconsistency in their system makes having your own records really valuable. Thanks for taking the time to synthesize all this information - it's exactly the kind of helpful summary that makes this community so valuable for people navigating unemployment challenges!

As a newcomer to this community, I'm really grateful to have found this thread! I'm currently dealing with a similar "on hold" situation with my unemployment claim and was starting to panic thinking the money was just gone forever. Reading through everyone's experiences has been incredibly reassuring, especially knowing that @Luca Esposito eventually got his payment even though CONNECT never updated properly. The fact that it took 3 weeks is frustrating but at least gives me a realistic timeline to expect. I had no idea about things like the monetary reconsideration option that @Mateo Rodriguez mentioned, or that Claimyr service @Aisha Abdullah brought up. It's clear that navigating the DEO system requires a lot of patience and persistence, but seeing how this community supports each other through these challenges gives me hope. Thanks to everyone who shared their stories - it really helps to know we're not alone in dealing with these confusing system glitches!

Welcome to the community, @StarSeeker! I'm also new here and have been reading through all these threads trying to understand the DEO system better. It's honestly both scary and comforting to see how common these "on hold" issues are - scary because it shows how broken the system is, but comforting to know we're not the only ones dealing with it. The 3-week timeline that @Luca Esposito shared is really helpful to keep in mind. I think the hardest part is just not knowing what's happening or when it might resolve. At least now I know to check my actual payment method instead of trusting what CONNECT says! This community seems like such a lifeline for people trying to navigate all this confusion. Thanks for joining and sharing your experience too!

As someone who's been navigating the Florida DEO system for a few months now, I wanted to share my perspective on this "one week paid, one week on hold" issue. What you're experiencing is unfortunately very common - I've seen it happen to multiple people in my family and friend circle. In my experience, these holds often resolve themselves within 2-4 weeks without any action needed from your end, similar to what happened with @Luca Esposito. One thing I learned the hard way is to set up account alerts on your Way2Go card or bank account if you have direct deposit. The CONNECT system is notoriously unreliable for showing accurate payment status, but your actual payment method will show the money when it hits. Also, if you're really stressed about it, try calling the DEO early in the morning (right when they open at 8 AM) or later in the afternoon around 4 PM - I've had better luck getting through during those times rather than the middle of the day when everyone's calling. Hang in there - the waiting is awful, but based on what I've seen in this community, these mysterious holds usually do get resolved eventually!

Thanks for sharing your experience, @Vanessa Figueroa! As someone completely new to this whole process, your tips about calling times and setting up account alerts are really valuable. I had no idea that timing your calls could make such a difference in getting through to an agent. The 2-4 week timeline you mentioned aligns with what others have shared here, which helps set realistic expectations. It's frustrating that we have to rely on workarounds like checking our payment methods instead of trusting the official CONNECT system, but I'm grateful this community exists to share these insights. I'm definitely going to set up those account alerts you suggested - seems like a much more reliable way to track actual payments than depending on what CONNECT shows. Thanks for taking the time to help newcomers like me understand what to expect!

As a newcomer to this community, I want to thank everyone who shared their experiences in this thread! I'm currently dealing with my first unemployment claim in Florida and was completely panicked when I saw one of my weeks go "on hold" with no explanation. Reading through all these responses has been incredibly helpful - especially knowing that @Luca Esposito eventually received the payment even though CONNECT never updated properly. The 2-4 week timeline that several people mentioned gives me realistic expectations instead of just stressing every day wondering if the money is gone forever. I had no idea about checking my actual payment method instead of relying on CONNECT status, or about useful resources like the monetary reconsideration option @Mateo Rodriguez mentioned. It's clear that successfully navigating the DEO system requires a lot of patience and community knowledge that you just can't get from their official resources. This thread perfectly shows why this community is so valuable - real people sharing real experiences and practical advice for dealing with a frustrating and confusing system. Thanks to everyone who took the time to help others understand what to expect!

Welcome to the community, @Liam Brown! Your summary really captures what makes this thread so valuable - it's amazing how much practical knowledge gets shared here that you simply can't find in any official DEO documentation. I'm also relatively new to navigating unemployment claims, and like you, I was initially terrified when I encountered my first "on hold" status with zero explanation. This community has been a lifesaver for understanding what's actually normal versus what's worth panicking about. The collective wisdom here about checking your actual payment method instead of trusting CONNECT, the realistic timelines people share, and even tips like @Vanessa Figueroa's advice about optimal calling times - none of this information is available anywhere else. It really highlights how this community fills a huge gap left by the DEO's lack of clear communication. Thanks for joining and adding your voice! The more people who share their experiences, the better we can all understand and navigate this confusing system together.

As someone brand new to this community and the Florida unemployment system, this entire thread has been incredibly eye-opening! I just filed my first claim a few weeks ago and had no idea that these "on hold" situations were so common. What really stands out to me is how everyone here has basically had to become experts on workarounds for a system that should just work properly. The fact that @Luca Esposito got his payment but CONNECT still showed "on hold" perfectly illustrates how unreliable the official system is. I'm taking notes on all the practical advice shared here - checking payment methods directly instead of trusting CONNECT status, the 2-4 week timeline for mysterious holds to resolve, optimal calling times, and resources like the monetary reconsideration option. This is exactly the kind of real-world knowledge that new claimants desperately need but can't find anywhere in DEO's official guidance. It's both frustrating and comforting to see how this community has come together to fill the information gaps left by the DEO's poor communication. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - you're helping so many people understand what to expect and feel less alone in dealing with this confusing process!

Welcome to the community, @Amina Diop! You've really captured what makes this thread so valuable - it's like a crash course in DEO reality that you just can't get anywhere else. As another newcomer, I'm also amazed at how this community has essentially created its own survival guide for navigating a system that seems designed to confuse people. The disconnect between what CONNECT shows and what actually happens (like @Luca Esposito's payment coming through while the status stayed "on hold") is mind-boggling. I'm definitely bookmarking this thread as my go-to reference for understanding what's normal versus what requires action. The practical tips everyone has shared - from @Vanessa Figueroa's calling time advice to @Mateo Rodriguez's monetary reconsideration option - are pure gold for people like us who are just starting to navigate this system. It gives me hope knowing there's such a supportive community here ready to help newcomers understand what to expect. Thanks for joining and sharing your perspective - the more voices we have documenting these experiences, the better we can all prepare for and handle whatever the DEO system throws at us!
