Won EDD appeal, benefits exhausted. How to extend? PEUC/FED-ED still available?

I won my EDD appeal after being denied benefits initially. I had about $8,000 in benefits and just received my last payment. I got a notice saying EDD will let me know if I qualify for an extension, but I can't wait due to financial difficulties. I'm trying to get the process started ASAP. Has anyone been through this? Any advice on how to extend benefits or what to ask when I finally get through to an agent?

I found a way to solve EDD benefits extension issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNTZs_gupps

Congrats on winning your appeal! That's a huge hurdle. For extending benefits, ask about PEUC or FED-ED programs when you talk to an agent. They're designed for situations like yours. Make sure to mention your financial hardship too. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip! What exactly are PEUC and FED-ED? Are they still available?

PEUC was part of the pandemic response, but it's ended now. FED-ED might still be an option if CA's unemployment rate is high enough. Best to check with EDD for the most up-to-date info. The system changes so fast, it's hard to keep up! 🤷‍♂️

I heard FED-ED got axed too. EDD's website is useless, never updated. We're all in the same sinking boat here 😩

Ugh, getting through to EDD is a nightmare. I spent WEEKS trying to reach someone. It's like they don't want us to get help. 🙄

For real! Its like playing the lottery, except the prize is talking to a real person lol

I found a way to get through! There's this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that calls EDD for you, waits on hold, and then connects you when an agent picks up. It costs $20 but saved me hours of frustration. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Wait, you have to PAY to talk to EDD now? That's messed up. 😡

I get it, but for me it was worth it. I was spending hours every day trying to get through. This way I could actually do other stuff while waiting for a callback. Just sharing what worked for me! 🤷‍♀️

Here's what you need to know about extending benefits: 1. Regular UI benefits last up to 26 weeks 2. After that, you might qualify for extensions depending on the state's unemployment rate 3. FED-ED is sometimes available during high unemployment periods 4. Always certify for benefits even if you're waiting on an extension decision 5. Keep detailed records of your job search efforts When you talk to EDD, ask about: - Current extension programs - Your specific eligibility based on your claim history - Any additional documentation they might need Stay persistent and document all your calls/attempts. The system is frustrating but don't give up!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed info! It's really helpful. I'll definitely use these points when I talk to EDD. 🙏

This should be pinned to the top of the sub. So many people asking the same questions over and over.

I'm in the exact same situation! Won my appeal in May, benefits ran out last week. Let me know if you find out anything useful. This whole process is so confusing and stressful. 😫

Will do! Glad to know I'm not alone in this. Good luck to you too!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold last week. Also, be super nice to the agent, they deal with angry people all day. Good luck!

What time do they open? Ive been trying for days with no luck

They open at 8am Pacific Time. Set your alarm and start dialing at 7:59! 😅

Anyone else feel like the whole system is designed to make us give up? It's like they're hoping we'll just stop trying to get the benefits we're entitled to. 🤬

100% this. It's a war of attrition and they're winning. But we gotta keep fighting! 💪

Preach! 🙌 The hoops we have to jump through are ridiculous. Stay strong everyone!

Have you checked if you qualify for any other assistance programs? Food stamps, rental assistance, etc. Might help while you're sorting out the EDD stuff.

Try contacting your local assemblymember or state senator. They sometimes can help push things through faster. Worth a shot!
