Missing EDD payments after certification for two weeks straight - help!
I've certified for unemployment benefits on time for the past two payment periods but haven't received a dime either time. My UI Online account shows 'paid' status but nothing has hit my Money Network card or bank account. This is the second payment cycle where this has happened. I'm really starting to panic because rent is due next week and I was counting on this money. I've tried calling EDD about 20 times using different numbers but always get the 'we're experiencing high call volume' message. Has anyone else experienced payment delays recently? What should I do to actually get my money? This is so frustrating!

•Have you managed to talk to anyone at all? I feel like I'm shouting into the void here...

Check if you have any outstanding identity verification requirements or messages in your inbox. Also make sure your payment method is correctly set up. Sometimes EDD shows 'paid' but the money is held if there's an unresolved issue with your claim. If you recently switched between direct deposit and the Money Network card, there can be a delay of 3-5 business days.

•I double-checked and don't see any messages or alerts in my inbox. My payment method hasn't changed either - still direct deposit to the same account I've used since filing my claim in February. I just don't understand why it suddenly stopped working when I've been getting payments fine for months!

•Thanks for the suggestion - I did try that number already but it just confirms what UI Online already shows... that it was supposedly paid but nothing's arrived.

This happened to me in May! Got super frustrated because UI Online showed "paid" for THREE certification periods but nothing was hitting my account. After TWO WEEKS of trying, I used Claimyr to get through to a live EDD agent (claimyr.com) and found out there was a payment block on my account due to some random quarterly review flag. The agent fixed it on the spot and released all my payments! They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Totally worth it because I was about to miss rent and car payment. The agent told me these random payment blocks happen sometimes even when there's nothing wrong with your claim - you just need a human to remove them.

•Thank you for the suggestion! I've literally never heard of a quarterly review flag... that's exactly the kind of random thing that's probably happening. I'm going to look into this service - at this point I'd do anything to actually talk to a human at EDD!

u might wanna call ur bank 2. sometimes they put holds on govt deposits for no reason. my cousin had that happen and the bank was holding the money for 5 days without telling him!!

•This is excellent advice. Financial institutions do sometimes place security holds on government deposits, especially if they seem unusual or are larger than typical deposits. Always worth checking with your bank as well as EDD.

I had a similar issue last year and it turns out my claim was flagged for an eligibility interview but the interview notice got lost in the mail. Maybe check your address is current? Good luck!

Another thing to check - have you gone through your whole UI Online account thoroughly? Sometimes there are eligibility questions or quarterly recertification requirements hidden in different tabs that don't show up as notifications. Also, check your payment method details - even if you didn't change anything, sometimes the system requires verification of payment methods at random intervals.

•I just went through every single tab and section of my UI Online account and still nothing indicating a problem. No pending forms, no messages about verification, nothing under the "notifications" section... it's maddening! I feel like I'm missing something obvious but I've checked everything three times.

Based on your situation, this sounds like what we call a "phantom payment block" - where the system shows paid but the payment is held in processing. There are typically three causes: 1. A quarterly wage review flag (happens automatically every 3 months) 2. A random identity verification check 3. A system glitch requiring manual override Unfortunately, all three require speaking with an EDD representative who can see the backend of your claim. These issues won't be visible to you in UI Online. I recommend calling right at 8:00 AM when they open, or using a service to help you get through the phone lines. Once you reach a representative, specifically ask them to check for payment blocks or holds that might not be visible on your end.

UPDATE: I finally got through to an EDD rep! Had to use that Claimyr service someone mentioned here (worked exactly like the video showed). Turns out there was a "quarterly income review hold" on my account that triggered automatically. The rep removed it and released both payments - should have the money by tomorrow! For anyone facing similar issues, definitely try to speak with a live agent because there was absolutely NOTHING in my online account showing this problem.

•Great news! Those quarterly reviews can be frustrating because they often trigger automatically even when everything is in order with your claim. Glad you got it resolved and your payments released.
