EDD website glitch: SDI link redirects to Spanish unemployment page. How to check claim status?

Anyone else having trouble with the EDD website? I'm trying to check on my disability claim status but when I click on the State Disability link, it keeps sending me to the Spanish unemployment page. This is so frustrating! I just want to know if my payment is coming and how it'll be sent. Any tips on how to get through or fix this glitch?

Ugh, classic EDD nonsense. Their website is a total mess. I had a similar issue last month when trying to certify for benefits. Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? Sometimes that helps with weird redirects.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give that a shot. Did it actually work for you?

It helped with some issues, but tbh the EDD site is just a dumpster fire 🔥 Good luck!

I second this! Clearing cache worked for me too. Also, try using a different browser if you can.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/0UZGuPWGErg

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

I was skeptical too, but I was desperate. It really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦‍♂️

I get it, but for me, it was worth it. Time is money, and I was wasting whole days trying to get through.

Have you tried accessing the site during off-peak hours? Like really early in the morning or late at night? Sometimes the traffic overload causes weird glitches.

This happened to me too! I ended up having to use Google Translate to navigate the Spanish page until I found the right link back to English. It's not ideal, but it worked in a pinch.

Wow, that's some creative problem-solving! I might have to try that if nothing else works. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I used to work in IT for a state agency (not California). Here's what I'd suggest: 1. Try different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) 2. Clear your cache and cookies 3. Use incognito/private browsing mode 4. Check if your adblocker or VPN is interfering 5. Try a different device if possible 6. If all else fails, call their tech support line Also, sometimes these issues are on their end and you just have to wait it out. Good luck!

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll work through these steps and see if I can get it sorted.

This comment speaks to my soul. We're all in the same sinking boat here 🚢

Have you tried contacting your local assembly member's office? They often have liaisons who can help navigate EDD issues. It's worth a shot!

6 months?! That's insane. I'm so sorry you're going through that. Have you tried reaching out to legal aid?

Not yet but maybe i should. this whole thing is driving me crazy

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the website, try the mobile app. Sometimes it works better for some reason.

I didn't even know they had an app! Thanks for the heads up, I'll check it out.

Anyone else think its weird that a government website is this bad? Like, we pay taxes for this stuff. Shouldn't it actually, ya know, work? 🤔

0 coins

First time? 😂 Government and efficient technology don't exactly go hand in hand.

True, but it's extra frustrating when it's something as important as disability benefits. People rely on this!

I've been dealing with the same redirect issue! What worked for me was going directly to the EDD homepage and manually navigating to the SDI section instead of using any bookmarked links. Sometimes the old URLs get messed up when they update their site. Also, if you're still stuck, try accessing it through the "Benefits Online" portal - that's been more stable for me lately. Hope this helps!

This is super helpful! I was definitely using a bookmarked link, so that might be the issue. Going to try the Benefits Online portal route - fingers crossed it works better than the regular site. Thanks for sharing what worked for you!
