EDD account stuck on language selection screen - can't proceed after ID.me verification
Successfully completed my ID.me verification yesterday but now I'm completely stuck on the EDD website. When I log in and try to access my UI Online account, it takes me to a 'Select a language' screen, but there's no working dropdown menu. I tried manually typing 'English' in the field but the system won't accept it. I can't get past this screen to view or manage my claim! Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas how to fix this or bypass this weird glitch? My rent is due next week and I need to certify for benefits ASAP.

This exact thing happened to me last month! It's a known browser compatibility issue with the EDD portal. Try these fixes in this order: 1. Clear your browser cache and cookies completely 2. Try a different browser (Chrome works best with EDD's system) 3. If using a mobile device, switch to a desktop/laptop 4. Disable any browser extensions or ad blockers The language dropdown is actually there but sometimes doesn't display correctly depending on your browser. For me, using Chrome in incognito mode finally worked.

•Thank you! Just tried with Chrome and it's still not working. Going to try incognito mode next. Do you know if this will affect my certification deadline? I'm supposed to certify by Sunday.

This is happening to EVERYONE lately!!! EDD's ancient system can't handle modern browsers half the time. I was stuck for TWO WEEKS on this screen and missed my certification period because of it. Called 97 times and never got through. Finally had to go to the library and use their public computers which somehow worked. The EDD needs to be completely overhauled, it's ridiculous we're dealing with these technical issues in 2025!!!

•Oh no, I really hope I don't miss my certification window. Did you have any issues with backpay after missing your certification period?

•Yeah, I had to fill out a form explaining why I missed the certification deadline and it took an additional 3 weeks to get my payment. TOTAL NIGHTMARE. Try the library computers if you can, seriously.

If you've already tried different browsers without success, you might need to contact EDD technical support directly. The language selection screen bug has been affecting users since they updated their UI Online portal last month. I recommend using Claimyr to get through to an EDD representative quickly. I was dealing with the same issue and spent days trying to get through on my own. Used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got connected to a rep in under 25 minutes who was able to manually update my language preference on their end. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Once the rep sets your language preference, you should be able to access your account normally.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I've been calling all day with no luck. I'll check out that service if I can't get this fixed by tomorrow. Did the rep have to do anything special or was it a quick fix once you got through?

•It was pretty quick - took about 3 minutes once I explained the issue. The rep mentioned they've been getting lots of calls about this specific problem, so they knew exactly what to do. Just make sure to have your account details ready when you call.

•ID.me is the identity verification system EDD uses now. You have to verify through them before you can access your UI Online account. Been that way for a couple years now.

Try accessing the site very early morning like 5am. Thats when it worked for me. Less traffic on their servers then.

•I'll try that tomorrow, thanks! Didn't think about server traffic being an issue.

Success! Just wanted to update everyone. I ended up using Claimyr to reach an EDD rep this morning (took about 35 mins but WAY better than calling myself all day). The agent explained this is a known issue with their latest system update. They fixed my language preference on their end and reset my account access. I'm now able to log in normally and just completed my certification! For anyone else having this problem, here's what they told me: When the update rolled out, some accounts got stuck in a weird state where the language preference wasn't properly set but the system still tries to force you to select one. The fix has to be done on their end. Thanks everyone for your help!

•Wait, I'm confused - are you the same person as the original poster? Your username shows as Ravi Choudhury but the original post was from Amina Sy. Either way, glad someone got this resolved! I'm dealing with the exact same language selection screen issue right now so this gives me hope that Claimyr might be worth trying.
