EDD phone interview window from 1-3pm - no call yet. Should I be worried?

So I've got an EDD phone interview scheduled for today between 1-3pm. It's already 1:45pm and my phone hasn't rung yet. I'm getting really anxious! Is it normal for them to call late within the window? Do they ever call after the scheduled time frame ends? And if they don't call at all today, should I try calling them or just wait for them to reschedule? This is for my regular UI claim and I really need it to get processed. Any advice appreciated!!

They absolutely can call at the very end of the window. My interview was scheduled for 8-10am and they called at 9:58am! EDD is dealing with thousands of claims every day, so interviewers often run behind schedule. If they don't call by 3pm, wait until at least 4pm before assuming they missed you. Sometimes they run up to an hour late when they're backed up.

Thanks, that's reassuring! I'll definitely keep my phone on until at least 4pm then. Did everything go smoothly with your interview when they finally called?

THEY WILL NOT CALL AFTER YOUR WINDOW ENDS!!! That's what the EDD rep told me when I called about my missed interview. If they don't call by 3pm, you NEED to contact them ASAP!!! They'll mark you as "no contact" and it will delay your benefits FOR WEEKS! This happened to me last month and I'm STILL fighting to get my claim approved.

That's not entirely accurate. While you should definitely follow up if they miss the interview, they sometimes call a bit after the window (up to an hour) if they're running behind. And they'll usually try to reach you a second time before marking you as "no contact". Every situation is different, but panicking doesn't help.

Ugh that's what I'm afraid of! Did they at least give you a reason why they missed the first interview?

Here's what you need to know: 1) Keep your phone on and available until at least 4pm today. 2) If they don't call by then, you should call the EDD tomorrow morning as soon as they open. 3) Document that you were available during your scheduled interview time. 4) Check your EDD account online to see if there's any status update. The problem with calling EDD is actually getting through to someone. The phone lines are constantly jammed. I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com) - it's a service that helps you bypass the busy signals and long wait times. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. It's how I finally got through to resolve my missing interview issue last month.

^^^ This!! I wasted 3 days trying to reach EDD after they missed my interview. Called like 47 times and either got busy signals or disconnected. Used Claimyr and got through in 20 mins. They scheduled a new interview for the next day. Worth it!!

Make sure your voicemail isn't full and your phone can accept calls from private/unknown numbers! I missed my EDD interview because my phone was automatically blocking "spam risk" calls - and guess how EDD calls show up sometimes? 🤦‍♀️ Also, did you get an email or just the letter/notice about the interview? Sometimes the email has more specific instructions.

Omg I didn't even think about that! Just checked and thankfully my phone is set to accept unknown callers. I got both a letter and an email about the interview, but neither had any special instructions beyond the time window.

they just called me!!! the interviewer apologized for being late - it's 3:15pm now. she said they're running behind today but they do try to call everyone on their list. my certification was for a voluntary quit so they had extra questions. what's your interview about? that might affect when they call you

OMG they just called me too!! Right after I read your comment, literally at 3:22pm. Thanks everyone for the advice. My interview is about my availability for work since I'm in school part-time. Fingers crossed it goes well!

Interview went great! Only lasted about 10 minutes. The interviewer said my school schedule doesn't interfere with my availability for full-time work, so I should see my pending payments switch to paid in the next few days! So relieved right now.
