EDD missed my scheduled phone interview - what now?

I had a phone interview scheduled with EDD for today between 10:00 and 12:00, but I never received the call. Has anyone else experienced this? What should I do now? I'm worried about my benefits being affected.

Ugh, that sucks. I've been there before. Did you double-check your phone settings? Sometimes my phone blocks unknown numbers and I miss important calls.

Yeah, I checked everything. My phone was on and ready to go. I even made sure to have good reception. Just no call came through 😞

Maybe try calling them back? Sometimes they have technical issues on their end. Worth a shot!

I'll give that a try. Hopefully I can get through to someone. Thanks for the suggestion!

This happened to me last month! Here's what you need to do: 1. Call EDD immediately and explain the situation 2. Ask for a rescheduled interview 3. Request written confirmation of the new appointment 4. Document everything - date, time, who you spoke with Don't panic, they usually understand these things happen. Just be persistent and polite. Good luck!

Thank you so much for the detailed advice! I'll start on this right away. Did they give you any trouble when you called to reschedule?

Nah, they were pretty understanding. Just be prepared to wait on hold for a while. Bring snacks 😂

classic EDD move 🙄 theyre probably gonna blame you for missing the call even tho they never called. the system is rigged against us i swear

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/0UZGuPWGErg

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. Saved me hours of frustration. The $20 was worth it to actually talk to a human and get my issue resolved.

How long did it take for them to call you back?

0 coins

It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still faster than trying to get through on your own!

Have you checked your EDD online account? Sometimes they leave messages there if they couldn't reach you by phone. Might give you some info on next steps.

Good idea, I'll check that right now. Fingers crossed there's something there!

edd is such a joke these days smh. i've been waiting 3 months for my claim to be processed. good luck getting anyone on the phone 🤡

3 months?! That's insane. Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help speed things up.

0 coins

nah haven't tried that. might give it a shot tho, cant hurt at this point 🤷‍♂️

Pro tip: If you can't get through on the main line, try calling right when they open or just before they close. Sometimes you have better luck during off-peak hours.

This is why I always record my calls with EDD. Too many 'he said, she said' situations. Cover your bases, people!

Isn't it illegal to record calls without consent in some states? Be careful with that advice.

0 coins

Good point. Always check your local laws first. In my state, only one party needs to consent, so I'm covered.

Anyone else notice that EDD seems to be dropping more calls lately? I wonder if they're having technical issues or if it's just understaffing. 🤔

Don't worry, this happens more than you'd think! When this happened to me, I called the EDD phone number (1-800-300-5616) and pressed 1-2-1 to get through to someone. Make sure to mention that you were available during your scheduled time window and never received the call. They should be able to reschedule without penalizing your benefits. Also, keep detailed notes of when you call, who you speak with, and any reference numbers they give you. The key is being persistent but polite - they deal with this situation regularly and know it's not always the claimant's fault. Good luck!

Thanks for sharing that phone number and the button sequence! That's super helpful. I've been dreading trying to navigate their phone system, but having the exact steps makes it feel less overwhelming. Really appreciate the tip about keeping detailed notes too - I'll make sure to document everything just in case.

This exact thing happened to my friend last week! EDD never called during her scheduled window either. She ended up calling the main number and explaining the situation - turns out there was a system glitch on their end that day. They rescheduled her for the following week with no issues or penalties to her benefits. The rep even apologized and noted in her file that the missed call wasn't her fault. So definitely don't stress too much about this affecting your benefits - it's more common than you'd think and they're usually pretty understanding when it's on their end. Just make sure to call them ASAP to get it sorted out!
