EDD interview scheduled, they called and hung up - what now?

So I had an interview scheduled with EDD today from 10am to 12pm. They called me but then hung up! Has anyone else experienced this? What should I do now? I'm worried I might miss my chance to get my benefits sorted out.

I found a way to solve EDD interview call dropped issue, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVd5_uLk6VM

Ugh, that sucks! The same thing happened to me last month. I waited all day for the call and when it finally came, it dropped after like 2 seconds. So frustrating! 😤

Did you try calling them back? Sometimes their system glitches and drops calls.

0 coins

Yeah, I tried calling back but you know how it is... endless hold times and then getting disconnected again. It's like playing phone tag with a ghost 👻

lol phone tag with a ghost. that's exactly what it feels like!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda steep just to make a phone call.

I get the skepticism, but honestly, after spending hours trying to get through, it was worth every penny to me. Saved me so much time and stress.

How long did it take for them to actually connect you with someone?

0 coins

It took about an hour and a half, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They just called me when an agent was on the line.

Have you tried emailing them? Sometimes that works better than calling. It might take a few days to get a response, but at least you'll have something in writing.

Classic EDD move 🙄 They're probably swamped with calls and their system can't handle it. Keep trying to call back, and document everything. Note the time they called and hung up, and any other attempts you make to contact them.

Good advice about documenting everything. You never know when that info might come in handy later.

I've been dealing with EDD for months now and let me tell you, it's a nightmare. Here's what I've learned: • Always answer unknown numbers during your interview window • If they hang up, try calling back immediately • Keep a log of all your interactions (calls, emails, etc.) • Be persistent - sometimes you have to call multiple times a day • Consider reaching out to your local assembly member for help • Check your EDD account online regularly for updates Hang in there, OP. It's a frustrating process but don't give up!

Wow, thanks for all the detailed advice! I'll definitely start keeping better records of everything. How long did it take you to finally get your benefits sorted out?

0 coins

It took about 2 months of back and forth, but I finally got it resolved. Stay strong, it's a marathon not a sprint!

have u tried reachin out on social media? sometimes if u tweet at them or message on FB they respond faster

This is why the whole system needs an overhaul. It's ridiculous that in 2023 we're still dealing with dropped calls and impossible-to-reach government agencies. We deserve better!

0 coins

Preach! 🙌 The system is totally broken. We need to put pressure on our reps to fix this mess.

0 coins

Yeah but good luck getting anything done in this political climate. We'll probably be using carrier pigeons before they actually upgrade the system 🐦

Maybe try calling from a different phone number? I've heard sometimes they block numbers that call too often, so if you've been trying a lot it might help to use a friend's phone.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been trying to get through to EDD for weeks. It's like they're playing hard to get, but we're the ones who need the money! 💸 Anyway, sending good vibes your way. Hope you get it sorted soon!

Thanks for the good vibes! We're all in this struggle together, I guess. How long have you been trying to reach them?

Going on 3 weeks now. It's been a wild ride of emotions, let me tell ya. One minute I'm hopeful, the next I'm ready to throw my phone out the window 😅

Ugh, this exact thing happened to me two weeks ago! They called at 10:15 AM and literally hung up after I said "Hello." I was so frustrated I almost cried. What I ended up doing was immediately calling back using the 2511 trick (call the main number, press 1 for English, then 2 for employers, then 5, then 1, then 1 - it gets you to a rep faster). It took about 45 minutes on hold but I finally got through to someone who could reschedule my interview. They said it was a "technical issue" and happens more often than they'd like to admit. Don't give up - just keep trying! Also, make sure your voicemail isn't full in case they try to leave a message next time.

Wow, thanks for sharing that 2511 trick! I've never heard of that before. I'm definitely going to try that if I can't get through the regular way. It's crazy that this is such a common issue that they have to admit it happens "more often than they'd like" - like, maybe fix the system then? 🤦‍♀️ But seriously, I really appreciate you taking the time to share what worked for you. Did they give you any timeline for when the rescheduled interview would happen?

This is so frustrating but unfortunately pretty common with EDD! When this happened to my sister, she immediately called back and got through after about 30 minutes on hold. The rep told her their phone system has issues and sometimes drops calls automatically if there are too many people in the queue. They were able to reschedule her interview for the next week. I'd suggest calling back ASAP and explaining what happened - they should be understanding since it's a known issue on their end. Also, maybe ask them to confirm your phone number is correct in their system in case that's causing the problem. Don't lose hope, you'll get through this! 🙏

Thanks for sharing your sister's experience! It's oddly comforting to know this isn't just happening to me. I'm definitely going to call back today and mention the system issue - hopefully they'll be more understanding knowing it's on their end. Did your sister have any trouble with the rescheduled interview, or did it go smoothly the second time around?

This happened to me too! I was so nervous waiting for the call and when they finally called, it lasted maybe 3 seconds before the line went dead. I was devastated thinking I'd blown my chance. Here's what I did: I called back immediately using the main EDD number and when I got through (took about an hour), I explained exactly what happened. The rep was actually really understanding and said their system has been having major issues with dropped calls lately. She rescheduled me for the following Tuesday and made a note in my file about the technical issue. The second interview went perfectly fine - no dropped calls! My advice: call back TODAY if possible, stay calm when explaining the situation, and ask them to make a note about the technical issue in your file. They deal with this more than you'd think, so they should be sympathetic. Don't panic - you didn't do anything wrong! 💪

Thank you so much for sharing this! It's such a relief to hear from someone who went through the exact same thing and got it resolved. I was literally panicking thinking I somehow messed up my one chance. Your advice about calling back today and asking them to note the technical issue is really helpful - I'm going to do that as soon as I finish reading all these replies. It gives me hope that the rescheduled interview will actually work properly. Did they give you any specific time frame for when they could reschedule, or was it pretty flexible?

This is SO frustrating and unfortunately way too common with EDD! The exact same thing happened to me last month - they called right at the start of my interview window and hung up immediately. I was panicking thinking I'd lost my chance, but here's what worked for me: I called back using the main number within 10 minutes and got through after about 40 minutes on hold. When I explained what happened, the rep said "Oh yeah, that's been happening a lot lately - our phone system drops calls when there's high volume." She was actually really apologetic and rescheduled me for 3 days later without any issues. The key is to call back ASAP while it's still fresh, and mention that it was a dropped call during your scheduled interview window. They have notes about these technical issues and should be understanding. Also double-check that your phone number in their system is correct! The rescheduled interview went perfectly fine - no technical issues the second time. Don't give up, you've got this! 🤞

This gives me so much hope! I was literally having a panic attack thinking I'd somehow ruined my only shot at getting my benefits. The fact that the rep actually acknowledged it's a known system issue and was apologetic about it makes me feel way better. I'm definitely calling back first thing tomorrow morning - thanks for the tip about mentioning it was during my scheduled window, that seems like important context to give them. Did they ask you any specific questions when you called back, or did they just reschedule you right away once you explained the situation?

This is such a nightmare! I went through something similar a few months ago and it was absolutely maddening. Here's what I learned from my experience: Call back IMMEDIATELY - like within the hour if possible. When you get through (and you will, just be patient with the hold times), explain exactly what happened and ask them to check for any technical notes in your file. In my case, they could actually see that the call had been dropped on their end and were able to reschedule me without any hassle. The rep even apologized and said their phone system has been having major issues. Also, make sure to ask for a confirmation number or reference number for your new interview appointment - having that written down saved me so much stress later. The whole system is broken but the individual reps are usually pretty understanding about these technical glitches since they deal with them constantly. You didn't do anything wrong, so don't let this discourage you from pursuing your benefits! Keep us posted on how it goes! 🤞
