EDD online system down, need to reopen claim pending appeal with no court date. No benefits for over a year. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment claim. The online system isn't working for me and I need to reopen my claim that's pending appeal. I don't have a court date yet and it's been over a year since I've received any benefits. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to get through to someone?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The system is so broken rn. Have you tried calling the EDD directly? Sometimes you can get lucky if you call right when they open.

•Pro tip: call at 7:59am and keep redialing until you get through. It's a pain but it worked for me eventually.

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•20 bucks? That's kinda steep for something that should be free...

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me so much time and frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•Can you give more details about how it works? Do they guarantee you'll get through?

•They don't guarantee it, but in my experience it worked first try. You just put in your number and they call you when they get an agent. Simple as that.

Have you tried reaching out to your local assemblymember or state senator? They can sometimes help push things along with EDD.

I'm in the same boat, OP. Been waiting on an appeal for 14 months now. The whole system is a joke. 🤮

•14 months?! That's insane. I'm so sorry you're dealing with that. Hope we both get some resolution soon.

Here's what I'd recommend based on my experience: 1. Keep trying to call EDD early in the morning 2. Reach out to your local representatives 3. Document everything - dates you called, who you spoke to, etc. 4. Check if you qualify for any hardship programs while waiting 5. Consider legal aid if it's been an excessive wait Hang in there, OP. The system is frustrating but don't give up!

I heard theres a new bill being proposed to overhaul the entire unemployment system. Might be worth looking into and contacting your reps about supporting it.
