EDD: Can't find option to reopen claim from Feb 9th - Help!

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment claim. I need to reopen it starting from February 9th, but I can't find the option to do that on the website. Has anyone else run into this issue? Any advice on how to proceed?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD website is such a mess. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes thats the only way to get things done.

I've been trying to call for days but can't get through. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way.

I had the same issue last month. Here's what worked for me: 1. Log out and clear your browser cache 2. Log back in and go to the 'Manage Claim' section 3. Look for a 'Reopen Claim' button (it might be hidden) 4. If you still can't find it, try using a different browser If none of that works, you might need to call them directly. Hope this helps!

Have you checked if there are any system maintenance or updates going on? Sometimes they disable certain features during those times.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit?

Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

How long did it take to get through using this service?

It took about 2 hours for me, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They just called me when an agent was on the line.

idk why they make this so complicated. its like they dont want us to get our benefits 🙄

Preach! 🙌 The whole system needs an overhaul.

Have you tried reaching out to your local assemblymember or state senator? Sometimes their office can help push things through with EDD.

I hadn't thought of that. How do I find out who my representatives are?

Just google '[your city] state representatives' and you should find the info. Good luck!

@Dmitry Ivanov I went through this exact same issue a few weeks ago! The "Reopen Claim" option is really hard to find - it's usually buried in the UI Messages section or sometimes shows up under "Claim History" depending on your claim status. Also, make sure you're looking on the right date - sometimes there's a delay before the system allows you to reopen for a specific week. If you're still stuck after trying Connor's browser steps, the phone route really is your best bet. Hang in there! 💪
