EDD account locked - security questions not working for password reset
I'm completely locked out of my EDD account and getting desperate. Every time I try to log in, it says my password is wrong (which it might be, I use so many passwords). But when I click 'Forgot Password,' it asks those security questions I set up months ago. I KNOW I'm entering the right answers, but the system keeps rejecting them and now my account is totally locked! I've tried on 3 different devices thinking maybe it was a browser issue. I've been searching for a technical support number but all I can find are the regular EDD claim numbers that just put you in the certification queue. Does anyone know the direct number for password reset/technical issues? I have a certification due in 2 days and I'm panicking that I'll miss it and lose my benefits. Help!

•How many days did it take you to get through? I'm seriously worried about missing my certification deadline.

The technical support line is 1-833-978-2511 but it almost NEVER works. They always say they're at "maximum caller capacity" and hang up on you. I tried for TWO WEEKS straight and couldn't get anyone. The whole system is designed to make you give up!!! 😡

•Yep, I got hung up on 6 times today. Their system is such garbage.

The most reliable way to reach EDD tech support is to call 1-800-300-5616. However, you should be aware that this number experiences extremely high call volumes. Your best bet is to call exactly at 8:00 AM when they open, but you may still encounter issues getting through. Alternatively, if you have an America's Job Center near you, they sometimes can help with account access issues in person. You might want to check if there's one in your area.

•Thank you! I'll try calling right at 8am tomorrow. Do you know if missing a certification deadline because of tech issues is considered a valid reason? Or will I still get penalized?

When I got locked out, I started using Claimyr to get through to an EDD rep quickly. It actually works - I was connected to an agent in about 20 minutes after trying for days on my own. They were able to reset my security questions and unlock my account. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km It saved me from missing my certification deadline. I was super skeptical at first but got desperate after being hung up on for days.

•does that really work? i'm always scared of those services, like are they legit??

•Yeah, it's legit. They basically use a system that keeps dialing EDD until they get through, then they call you and connect you to the agent. Saved me hours of frustration.

Let me clarify a few things about account lockouts, as there's some confusion in the comments: 1. If you're locked out due to security questions, you need to speak with technical support, not the regular claims department. 2. Call 1-833-978-2511, select option 1, then option 4 for technical support specifically. 3. If you miss a certification due to account access issues, you can request a backdated certification once you regain access. Explain to the representative that you were unable to certify due to technical difficulties - they can make a note on your account. 4. Account lockouts usually expire after 24 hours if you stop attempting to log in, but security question problems require agent assistance. Keep documentation of your attempts to resolve this for your records in case there's any issue with your claim later.

•This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I didn't know about the option 1 then option 4 sequence - I'll try that first thing tomorrow. And that's a huge relief about the backdated certification option.

i had a problem with my account back in december and what worked for me was going to the physical edd office instead of calling. the lady there reset everything in like 5 minutes. way easier than phones! not sure if all offices do this but worth trying if ur close to one

•Where is there even a physical EDD office anymore? I thought they closed most of them.

I tried that Claimyr service that someone mentioned after struggling for days. It actually DID connect me to EDD in about 15 minutes which was shocking after all my failed attempts. The rep reset my security questions immediately. Not gonna lie, I was super skeptical but it worked when nothing else did.

•That's good to know it worked for you. I'm going to try the direct number with the specific options first thing tomorrow, but if that doesn't work, I might try Claimyr as a last resort before my certification deadline. Thanks for sharing your experience!

has anyone else noticed that the whole UI Online system has been extra glitchy lately? not just login issues but like everything is running slow and timing out? wonder if they're doing updates or something

•YES! I thought it was just my crappy internet but it's been horrible for weeks!

One additional tip: When you do get through to technical support, be sure to ask them to reset BOTH your password AND your security questions. Many representatives will only reset the password but not the security questions, which means you'll encounter the same problem next time you need to reset your password. Also, write down your exact security question answers somewhere secure. The system is very particular - if you use "Street" instead of "St." or vice versa, it will count it as incorrect.

•Update: I FINALLY got through! Used the 1-833 number with Option 1 then 4 like you suggested. Had to wait 45 minutes but the rep was super helpful. She reset both my password and security questions. I'm back in my account and was able to certify on time. Thank you all for the help!
