EDD UI Online account locked - security questions failing after password reset attempt

I'm totally stuck with my UI Online account and starting to panic! I was able to log in fine last week to certify, but today the system isn't accepting my password even though it's saved in my browser. Tried the 'Forgot Password' option but apparently I'm answering my security questions wrong (which makes NO sense because I know what city I was born in!). After 3 attempts, now I'm completely locked out. Has anyone dealt with this? Do I seriously have to call EDD to fix this? I need to certify by Sunday or I'll miss my payment cycle. Is there any other way to reset my account access without waiting on hold for 5 hours?

same thing hapened to me last month!! so frustrating. the security questions are case sensitive btw, so if you typed "Los Angeles" but originally entered "los angeles" it counts as wrong. also check for spaces at the end, my phone keyboard sometimes adds those

I tried all caps, no caps, with spaces, without spaces... nothing worked! Did you end up having to call them?

This is a common issue with UI Online, especially after system maintenance periods (they had one last weekend). There are a few things you can try before resorting to calling: 1. Clear your browser cache and cookies completely, then try again 2. Try a completely different browser or device 3. Wait 24 hours - sometimes the system automatically resets lock periods 4. Use the Contact EDD function on the main website (not through UI Online) If you're worried about missing your certification window, you can also certify by phone using TeleCert at 1-866-333-4606, even if your online account is locked. You'll need your SSN and PIN.

Thank you! I'll try clearing my cache first. I didn't know about certifying by phone - that's a relief if I can't get this fixed in time. My payment weeks end this Sunday so I'm getting anxious.

When you get locked out of UI Online, it's usually a 24-hour automatic lock. However, if you've truly forgotten your security question answers, you will need to contact EDD directly. Call early in the morning right when they open (8am) or try right before they close (around 7:30pm) - those times usually have shorter wait times. But prepare to be on hold regardless. The technical support line (833-978-2511) might be more helpful for account lockouts than the regular claim line.

I'll try calling right at 8am tomorrow. I swear I know my security answers though! It's bizarre - I've been using the same answers for years with no issues.

UGH the EDD site is so BROKEN!!!! Those security questions are a JOKE. I got locked out THREE TIMES in April and each time I had to spend 4+ hours on hold. One time the rep even told me my answers were correct in the system but the website was glitching!!! Such a waste of time when people need their benefits to SURVIVE. How hard is it to build a functional website???

While frustrating, remember the system handles millions of claimants. Technical issues are unfortunately inevitable with any system of this scale. That said, they should definitely implement better account recovery options.

I had this issue last year and I found a service called Claimyr that really helped me get through to EDD quickly. Instead of waiting for hours, they got me connected to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes who fixed my account access right away. They have a demo video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Their website is claimyr.com if you want to check it out. Honestly saved me so much frustration when I was in your exact situation.

It worked for me! They basically just keep dialing for you using their system instead of you having to manually redial constantly. The rep I got was super helpful and unlocked my account right away.

Have you tried logging in through a different device? Sometimes my laptop won't work but my phone does. Also my cousin said her account got locked because she moved and her IP address changed and EDD thought it was suspicious activity or something.

I tried both my laptop and phone - same problem on both. I haven't moved but I did get a new router last month... wonder if that could be related? 🤔

Update: For anyone finding this thread later - changing your router/IP address can sometimes trigger security protocols with EDD, but shouldn't cause complete lockout on its own. That typically happens after multiple failed login attempts. If you try all suggested methods and still can't access your account, calling is unfortunately necessary. Make sure to specify it's an account access issue, not a claim question, as they might transfer you to the technical support team who can help faster with these specific issues.

Quick update for anyone interested: I managed to get back into my account! I tried the cache clearing first but that didn't work. I called this morning right at 8am and actually got through after about 45 minutes. The rep said there was some kind of security flag on my account (wouldn't say exactly what) but she reset everything and I created new security questions. All sorted now and I certified on time! Thanks everyone for your help.
