Can't reset my UI Online password - EDD phone verification needed urgently!
Been trying to log into my UI Online account all weekend but it's locked me out after too many wrong password attempts. I seriously need to certify by tomorrow or I'll miss my payment window. The password reset email option isn't working (never arrives in my inbox) and now it's saying I need to verify by phone. Does anyone have the direct EDD tech support number that will connect me to an actual human? All the numbers I've called just give automated messages and hang up. This is my first time dealing with account lockout and I'm freaking out about missing my certification deadline!

I had exactly this problem last month! The regular EDD number (1-800-300-5616) is basically useless for tech issues. What you need is their technical support line at 1-855-327-7057. BUT good luck getting through - I called 17 times before someone picked up. They're only open 8am-12pm Monday to Friday so you might want to try right when they open.

•Ugh that number never works!! I tried calling for THREE DAYS and kept getting the "we're experiencing high call volume" message before it hung up on me 😡

The UI Online password reset system is so frustrating. A few things to try before calling: 1. Check your spam/junk folder for the reset email 2. Try using a different browser or clearing your cache 3. Make sure you're using the exact email associated with your EDD account 4. If you set up security questions, there should be an option to use those instead If none of that works, you definitely need to call, but be prepared for a long wait. The tech support line (1-855-327-7057) is your best bet, but as mentioned, they have very limited hours.

•Thanks for the suggestions. Already tried different browsers and checked spam folders. The security question option isn't showing up for some reason. I think my account is completely locked because of too many failed attempts. I'm going to try calling right at 8am tomorrow but I'm worried I won't get through in time for my certification deadline.

I spent 4 hours last week trying to get through to EDD for the same password reset issue. I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got connected to an agent in about 20 minutes. They have this system that holds your place in line and calls you back when an agent is available. Saved me from having to redial hundreds of times. They have a video demo here if you want to see how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The EDD agent was able to verify my identity and unlock my account on the same call. Totally worth it after days of frustration.

•is that service legit? sounds 2 good 2 be true tbh

•Yes, it's legitimate. They don't access your EDD account - they just connect you with an actual EDD representative. You still talk directly to EDD to handle your password reset.

WHY does EDD make everything SO DIFFICULT?! Their whole system is designed to prevent people from getting benefits they're entitled to! I lost 3 weeks of benefits because of this exact issue last year. The phone system is a JOKE and their website looks like it was built in 1998. Meanwhile we're all struggling to pay bills while they play these games. INFURIATING.

•It's not just you. My sister works for EDD (not customer service) and even she admits their systems are terrible and outdated. They know about all these problems but apparently don't have the budget to fix them. The phone system is intentionally understaffed to save money. It's totally broken by design.

Quick update - I just checked and the tech support hours changed recently. They're now open 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. So you have a better window to try calling tomorrow. Make sure you select the option for UI Online technical help, not regular claim questions.

•Thank you!! That's actually really helpful. I'll try calling during my lunch break too then. Fingers crossed I can get through.

I'm dealing with the same issue but I also found out that if you're close to an America's Job Center (the old EDD offices), some locations have EDD staff who can help with UI Online account issues. I went to the one in San Bernardino yesterday and they helped me reset my password in about 20 minutes. You might want to check if there's one near you as a backup plan: https://www.edd.ca.gov/office_locator/

•That's really good to know! There's actually one about 30 minutes from me. If I can't get through by phone tomorrow, I'll try going in person. Thanks for the tip!

•This is actually good advice. The self-service password reset system has been problematic since they updated UI Online last year. Calling is frustrating but usually more effective for account access issues.

UPDATE: Finally got through to EDD this morning! Used the tech support number (1-855-327-7057) and called exactly at 8:00am. Still waited about 45 minutes but they reset my password and I was able to certify right away. For anyone with the same issue - definitely call right when they open and be prepared to wait. Thanks everyone for your help!

•45 minutes is actually not bad for EDD! I'm shocked you got through that quickly lol

So glad you got through! This gives me hope for when I inevitably have to deal with EDD issues. Quick question - when you called at 8am, did you get put on hold right away or did it take a few tries to even get through to the hold queue? I've heard sometimes the system just hangs up on you if they're at capacity.

•I got through on my second try! The first call at 7:59 gave me a busy signal, but when I called right at 8:00am I got the automated menu and then was put on hold. I think the key is calling exactly when they open - not before or after. Also make sure to press the right menu options quickly (I think it was 1-2-4 for UI Online technical support). Good luck when you need to call!

Just wanted to add another tip for anyone still struggling with EDD password resets - if you have the EDD mobile app installed, try uninstalling and reinstalling it. Sometimes the app version works when the website doesn't, or vice versa. I've had luck logging in through the app when the desktop site was giving me problems. Also, if you're using a VPN, try turning it off - EDD's system sometimes flags VPN connections as suspicious and blocks access. Hope this helps someone!

•Thanks for the VPN tip! I never would have thought of that. I work from home and always have my VPN running so that could definitely be causing issues. I'll remember to turn it off if I ever have EDD login problems. The mobile app suggestion is smart too - having multiple ways to access your account is always good with how unreliable their systems can be.

Another thing that helped me when I had this exact same issue - if you have any old EDD correspondence (like award letters or previous notices), make sure you have those handy when you call. The tech support agents will ask you to verify your identity with information from your claim, and having those documents ready speeds up the process significantly. Also, if you know anyone else who has successfully gotten through to EDD recently, ask them for the exact menu options they pressed - sometimes the phone tree changes and you want to make sure you're getting routed to the right department. The whole system is frustrating but you'll get through it!

•This is such great advice! I wish I had known about having those documents ready when I was dealing with my password reset issue. The identity verification part definitely took the longest when I finally got through to an agent. For anyone reading this thread in the future - also write down your Social Security number, claim balance, and last certification date before calling. The agents need all this info to verify you're the account owner. It's annoying but totally worth being prepared so you don't get disconnected and have to start the whole calling process over again!
