EDD UI Online Registration Error: Info Doesn't Match Records - Help!

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble registering for UI online. I got my EDDCAN number, but when I try to register on the website, I keep getting an error message saying my information doesn't match their records. The message also says I need to have filed an unemployment insurance claim before registering for a UI Online account. Has anyone else run into this issue? I'm not sure if there's a problem with my personal information or if I missed a step somewhere.

I found a way to solve EDD UI Online registration issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IFePDajxtY

Ugh, classic EDD nonsense. I had the same problem when I tried to register. Turns out, you actually need to file a claim over the phone first before you can set up your online account. It's super annoying and not clearly explained anywhere on their website. πŸ™„

Wait, seriously? That's so dumb. Why even have an online system if you cant use it from the start? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Yep, can confirm. I wasted like 2 hours trying to figure this out before someone told me to call. The whole system is a mess tbh

Thanks for the info! Do you remember how long it took to get through on the phone? I've heard horror stories about wait times.

Oh boy, prepare yourself. It took me like 3 days of constant redialing to finally get through. And then I was on hold for another 2 hours. Its a real test of patience lol

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. The service is legit, they even have reviews on Trustpilot if you wanna check.

Here's a step-by-step guide to help you navigate this issue: 1. First, make sure you've actually filed an unemployment claim. This is crucial and must be done before you can register for UI Online. 2. If you haven't filed a claim yet, you'll need to do so by phone. The EDD doesn't allow initial claims to be filed online (which is ridiculous, I know). 3. When you call, have your personal information ready: SSN, driver's license or ID card number, your last employer information (including company name, supervisor's name, address and phone number), and your last date of work and the reason you're no longer working. 4. After you've filed your claim by phone, wait at least 24-48 hours before trying to register for UI Online. The system needs time to process your claim and update their records. 5. When you register online, make sure all the information you enter EXACTLY matches what you provided over the phone. Even small discrepancies can cause the error you're seeing. 6. If you're still having issues after following these steps, you may need to call again and speak with a representative to verify your information. Hope this helps! The EDD system is notoriously frustrating, but hang in there.

Thank you so much for this detailed guide! I'll definitely follow these steps. Quick question - do you know if there are specific hours when it's easier to get through on the phone?

Glad to help! In my experience, early mornings (right when they open) or late afternoons tend to have slightly shorter wait times. But honestly, it's hit or miss. Just be prepared for a long wait regardless of when you call.

am i the only 1 who thinks its crazy that in 2023 we still have to deal with this kinda bureaucratic bs? like, how hard is it to make a system that actually works?

For real tho. My grandma could design a better system, and she still uses a flip phone πŸ˜‚

Quick tip: When you do get through to file your claim, ask them to give you a confirmation number. It's come in handy for me when I've had to call back about issues. Makes it easier for them to find your info.

Has anyone else noticed that the EDD website is always "down for maintenance" at the most inconvenient times? It's like they're trying to make this process as difficult as possible πŸ™„

Plot twist: maybe they're not actually doing maintenance and it's just their excuse for a crappy system that can't handle the traffic πŸ€”

Guys, I'm in the same boat and I'm freaking out. I lost my job last week and I have bills due soon. How long does this whole process usually take from start to finish? I'm worried I won't get any money for weeks 😰

Hang in there, buddy. It can take a few weeks, but once it's set up, it's usually pretty smooth sailing. Have you looked into any local resources for emergency assistance in the meantime?

Thanks for the support. I haven't looked into local resources yet, but that's a good idea. I'll start googling. This whole situation is just so stressful.

Don't forget to check if you qualify for any other benefits too, like CalFresh (food stamps). Every little bit helps when you're in a tight spot.
