EDD Money Network Card to Bank Account Transfer Options - Any Tricks?

Just received my new Money Network debit card in the mail yesterday after waiting almost 3 weeks. I was surprised it's not Bank of America anymore! My question is: does anyone know the easiest way to transfer the entire balance to my checking account? I don't really want to keep the money on this card since I pay all my bills from my main bank account. Is there a way to do a one-time transfer of the whole amount, or do I have to withdraw in smaller chunks? The pamphlet that came with it was super confusing, and the customer service number had me on hold forever. Thanks for any advice!

Yes! You have a few options to transfer money from your Money Network card to your bank account: 1. Direct Transfer: Log into the Money Network mobile app or website. Go to the 'Move Money' section and select 'Transfer to Bank Account'. You'll need your bank routing and account numbers. This usually takes 1-3 business days and is FREE. 2. Cash withdrawal: You can withdraw cash at any AllPoint or MoneyPass ATM (fee-free) and then deposit it to your bank. The daily ATM limit is usually $1000. 3. Instant transfer: There's an option for instant transfer in the app, but they charge a small percentage fee. I found the app much more user-friendly than the paperwork that came with the card. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much! I didn't even know there was an app. Just downloaded it and I'm going to try the direct transfer option. Do you happen to know if there's a limit on how much you can transfer at once? My balance is around $2,400.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm definitely planning to set up direct deposit for future payments. Just trying to figure out what to do with this current balance sitting on the card.

The Money Network card is a nightmare!!! I've had nothing but problems since they switched from BofA. Tried to transfer money and it got STUCK in processing for 5 days!!! Their customer service is USELESS and you wait on hold for HOURS just to talk to someone who can't help. I ended up having to withdraw $1000 a day at ATMs (their max limit) until I got all my money off that stupid card. THEN I set up direct deposit for future payments. DON'T TRUST their transfer system!!!

I had the same experience at first but then someone told me the app works better than the website for transfers. Have you tried using the Money Network mobile app instead? The website was glitchy for me too.

Yes I tried the app AND the website. Both are garbage. The app kept crashing when I tried to set up my bank info. Wasted 3 days of my life dealing with this nonsense!!

I was frustrated with getting my money off the Money Network card too. After waiting on hold for 2+ hours multiple days, I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get through to an actual EDD rep who walked me through the whole process of setting up direct deposit and also helped me with card transfer issues. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The rep I spoke with explained that there's actually a $5000 daily transfer limit from the Money Network card to your bank account, but you need to have your account properly verified first. They were able to help me resolve the verification issue that was preventing my transfers from processing.

Thanks for sharing! I might look into that service if I keep having trouble. It's crazy how hard it is to reach someone at EDD.

Just to clarify some misinformation in this thread. The Money Network card allows transfers to your bank account in these ways: 1. ACH Transfer: Free, 1-3 business days, $5000 daily limit, $10,000 monthly limit 2. Instant Transfer: 1.5% fee, immediate transfer, same limits as above 3. ATM Withdrawal: Free at in-network ATMs, $1000 daily limit For future payments, you can set up direct deposit by logging into UI Online, selecting "Payment Preferences" and choosing the direct deposit option. You'll need your routing and account numbers. If your Money Network account isn't verified, transfers may be delayed. This happens if you haven't completed the identity verification process. Call the number on the back of your card and specifically ask for the verification department.

This is super helpful, thank you! I didn't realize there was a monthly limit too. I'll make sure my identity verification is complete before attempting the transfer.

my friend told me u can just go to walmart and buy a money order with the card then deposit the money order to ur bank

While this is technically possible, I wouldn't recommend it. Money orders typically have fees (usually $1-$5), and some banks place holds on money order deposits. The direct ACH transfer from the Money Network app is free and more secure.

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know what worked for me. I downloaded the Money Network app, verified my identity, and was able to set up a transfer to my checking account. The app said it would take 2-3 business days, so fingers crossed! I also went ahead and set up direct deposit through UI Online for future payments so I won't have to deal with this card again. Thanks to everyone for your help!

Glad it worked out! Just make sure you keep the card somewhere safe even after you set up direct deposit. Sometimes there can be adjustments or additional payments that might still go to the card.

That's awesome that it worked out for you! I'm in a similar situation - just got my Money Network card last week and was dreading having to deal with it. Your post gave me the confidence to try the app method instead of going the ATM withdrawal route. Quick question - when you did the identity verification, did you have to upload photos of your ID or was it just answering security questions?

@Derek Olson For the identity verification, I had to upload photos of my driver s'license front (and back and) then take a selfie. It was pretty straightforward through the app - just make sure you have good lighting when taking the photos. The whole verification process took about 10 minutes and was approved within a few hours. Much easier than I expected!

@Derek Olson I had to do both actually - first I answered some security questions about my credit history, then I uploaded photos of my driver s'license front and back, and finally took a selfie. The whole process took maybe 15 minutes and I got approved within a couple hours. Just make sure your photos are clear and well-lit! Good luck with your transfer!

@Derek Olson For the identity verification, I had to upload photos of my driver s'license front (and back and) then answer a few security questions about my previous addresses and credit history. The whole thing took about 10 minutes in the app and I got approved the same day. Just make sure your photos are clear and not blurry - I had to retake them once because the lighting was too dim. Once verified, the transfer option became available immediately. Hope this helps!

Just make sure you have good lighting when taking the photos - I had to retake mine once because they were too blurry. Once verified, the transfer option showed up right away in the app. Hope this helps!

I just went through this same process last month! One thing I wish someone had told me earlier - if you're planning to transfer the full $2,400, make sure you check that your bank doesn't have any daily deposit limits on their end too. My credit union had a $2,000 daily limit for ACH transfers, so even though Money Network allowed up to $5,000, I had to split my transfer into two days. Also, keep an eye on your bank account because sometimes the transfer shows up a day earlier than expected. The Money Network system is actually pretty reliable once you get past the initial setup hurdles!

That's a really good point about checking your bank's daily limits too! I didn't even think about that. My bank is Wells Fargo and I'm not sure what their ACH limits are - I should probably call them before I try to transfer the full amount. Thanks for the heads up! It's crazy how many little details there are to keep track of with this whole process.

Just wanted to add another tip that saved me time - before doing the transfer, make sure your Money Network card is actually activated! I know it sounds obvious, but I spent 2 hours trying to figure out why the transfer option wasn't showing up in the app, only to realize I never called the activation number that came with the card. Once I activated it, everything worked smoothly. Also, if you're worried about the transfer taking too long, you can always do a small test transfer first (like $50) to make sure everything goes through properly before transferring the full amount. The peace of mind is worth it!

That's such a helpful tip! I can't believe I almost made the same mistake. I just got my card yesterday and was so focused on downloading the app that I completely forgot about activating the actual card first. Just called the number on the back and got it activated. The test transfer idea is brilliant too - I'm definitely going to try transferring like $100 first before doing the full amount. Better safe than sorry with these things! Thanks for sharing your experience, it's going to save me a lot of headaches.
