EDD Money Network card: Does automatic bank transfer reset with new card?
So I just got my replacement Money Network debit card in the mail after my old one expired. I had set up automatic transfers to my checking account with the previous card about 18 months ago. Now I'm wondering if I need to go through that whole process again or if the transfer settings carry over to the new card? The instructions with the card don't say anything about this. Anyone dealt with this before? I'd really rather not have to call EDD about this if I can avoid it!

•Ughhh seriously? That's so annoying. Did you have to call them or can you just do it online?

Unfortunately, you need to set up your automatic transfers again with your new Money Network card. The transfer settings don't carry over from your old card to the new one. It's annoying but it's a security measure. Here's what you need to do: 1. Activate your new card first (if you haven't already) 2. Create/reset your account on the Money Network website using your new card details 3. Once logged in, go to the "Transfers" section 4. Re-enter your bank account information 5. Set up your automatic transfer preferences I went through this exact process last November when my card expired. Took about 10 minutes total.

•Thanks for the detailed instructions! I'll do this tonight. At least it's not complicated, just a hassle to have to redo everything.

Just adding that when I got my new card, I waited for my payment to hit it before setting up transfers again. Big mistake! The money was stuck on the card for almost a week because they have daily transfer limits. Better to set up those transfers BEFORE your next payment hits!!!!

•Oh that's a really good point! My next payment should be coming in 4 days so I'll definitely set this up tonight. Thanks for the heads up!

This whole Money Network card system is RIDICULOUS!! Why can't they just do direct deposit like a normal government agency?? Every other state has figured this out but California keeps using this prehistoric card system that expires and then you lose all your settings. I've been dealing with this nonsense for three years now and it's always something! Last time they sent my replacement card to an old address even though I updated my info online. Had to wait 3 WEEKS for a new one!!!

•They actually do offer direct deposit now! You can set it up through UI Online by going to "Profile" > "Payment Method" > "Change Payment Method". I switched about 8 months ago and it's been so much better - payments go straight to my bank account without any Money Network involvement.

Has anyone else had a hard time reaching Money Network customer service? I had a similar issue last month and was on hold for 2+ hours before giving up. I finally found a trick that worked - I selected the "lost or stolen card" option in their phone menu even though that wasn't my issue. Got through to a person in about 10 minutes who was able to help with my transfer setup.

•I've been trying to reach an EDD rep about my claim for a similar issue and it's been impossible. Always get that "too many callers" message. I finally used this service called Claimyr that got me through to an actual EDD agent in less than 25 minutes. They basically call EDD for you using their system and connect you when they get through. Check out their video to see how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km or their website claimyr.com. Saved me days of calling.

•You're absolutely right! This is a common confusion. For card issues, transfer setups, etc., you need to contact Money Network directly at 1-866-320-8699. For actual claim questions, payment amounts, certification issues, etc., that's when you contact EDD.

UPDATE: I was able to set up my automatic transfers again. For anyone with the same issue in the future, I can confirm you DO need to set it up again with the new card. It took about 15 minutes total. The Money Network website isn't the most user-friendly but once you find the transfer section it's pretty straightforward. Thanks everyone for your help!

•Consider switching to direct deposit through UI Online if you're eligible - it's so much simpler in the long run! But glad you got your transfers set up in the meantime.
