EDD Money Network Card vs BOA - is there a mobile app for the new EDD debit card?

Hey everyone, just got switched from the Bank of America EDD card to the new Money Network debit card and I'm totally lost! The BOA app was so convenient for checking my balance, transferring funds, and setting alerts. I've been searching for a Money Network app but can't figure out if one even exists. Has anyone found a mobile app for the new EDD debit card? The paper materials they sent were confusing and I really don't want to call their customer service line if I can avoid it. I get weekly UI payments so being able to check my balance on my phone is super important to me!

Yes, Money Network does have a mobile app called "Money Network Mobile Banking." It's available for both iOS and Android. The app lets you check your balance, view transaction history, set up alerts, find ATMs, and transfer money to your bank account. I've been using it since they made the switch from BoA last year. It's not quite as user-friendly as the BoA app was, but it has all the essential functions. Make sure to have your card number handy when you set it up - you'll need to register through the app if you haven't already created an online account. One tip: enable notifications for transactions. The fraud protection isn't as robust as BoA was, so it helps to keep an eye on your account activity.

This is super helpful, thank you! Just curious - have you had any issues with the app crashing or freezing? Some of the app store reviews are pretty negative.

I've had occasional issues after app updates, but nothing major. If it acts up, I usually just close and reopen it. The most annoying thing is sometimes it logs you out randomly for security, which I understand but it's inconvenient. Overall it works fine for basic functions like checking balances and transfers.

DONT BOTHER WITH THE APP!!! It's GARBAGE compared to BOA!!! Constantly crashes, locks you out for no reason, and sometimes shows wrong balances!!! I've had my money "disappear" for 2 days because of some "system update" they were doing. I HATE that EDD switched from Bank of America. This Money Network card is the WORST thing ever!!! 😡😡😡

Omg same!!! The app logged me out 3 times yesterday and then said my password was wrong when it wasn't!!! So frustrating!!

I had similar issues initially, but they've improved it with recent updates. Make sure you're running the latest version (v5.2.1). The balance display issue was fixed in the April update. If you're still having problems, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app completely rather than just updating.

I just transfer all my EDD payments immediately to my personal bank account. Don't even bother with the Money Network app or card anymore. You can set up direct deposit to your regular bank on the Money Network website - takes about 2-3 business days for transfers to complete.

This is what I ended up doing too. The transfer can sometimes take up to 3 days though, which is annoying if you need the money right away. I wish EDD would just let us choose direct deposit to our personal accounts from the beginning instead of forcing everyone to use these prepaid cards.

If you're having trouble reaching Money Network customer service about the app or any card issues, I'd recommend trying Claimyr to connect with an EDD representative. They can help sort out issues with your Money Network card or even switch you to direct deposit if you prefer that. I was stuck on hold for hours trying to resolve a frozen Money Network account until I used Claimyr (claimyr.com). They got me connected to an actual EDD person in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km

Oh I didn't know EDD could help with Money Network issues! I thought they were completely separate. I'll check out that service if I have more problems. I'm going to try the app first and see how it goes.

I miss the BoA app sooo much!! Anyone else notice that the Money Network card doesn't work at some stores?? My card got declined at Target last week even though I had plenty of money on it! So embarrassing 😩

One thing I found helpful with Money Network is actually calling their automated system when the app is being glitchy. You can check your balance and recent transactions that way too. The number should be on the back of your card.
