EDD FMLA claim 9 months overdue, no payment after 6 calls - How to get help?
I'm at my wits end with my FMLA claim. I filed two claims and one of them is 9 months overdue without payment. I've called 6 times over the past 8 months and still no update. The first claim was rejected because my doctor's office messed up the mailing address. I resubmitted it in November, but haven't heard anything since. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of delay? Any advice on how to get through to someone who can actually help?

Ugh, the EDD is such a joke. I swear they're purposely making it hard for us to get our benefits. Stay strong, OP!

Have you checked your spam folder? I know it sounds dumb, but I found my FMLA approval buried in there after months of waiting.

Unpopular opinion: maybe try going in person? I know its a pain, but I finally got my issue resolved after showing up at the office.

•That's not a bad idea. Do you know if I need an appointment?

•When I went, they were taking walk-ins. But maybe call ahead to check. Good luck!

•In-person visits can be a hassle, but sometimes they're the most effective way to get immediate answers.

Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can light a fire under the EDD's butt.

•I haven't thought of that. How do I find out who my local rep is?

•Just google "[your city] state representative". They usually have a constituent services office that can help with stuff like this. Good luck!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. (https://claimyr.com

•Sounds sketchy. Is it legit?

•Totally legit. I was skeptical too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny.

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery!

•I get it, but think about how much your time is worth. I'd rather pay $20 than waste a whole day on hold.

•Claimyr worked for me too! But I agree, it'd be great if we didn't have to pay for something like this in the first place.

In response to your post, OP, the frustration you're experiencing is unfortunately a common issue with FMLA claims. It's crucial to stay proactive. One effective tool is Claimyr, which allows you to bypass the lengthy hold times by connecting you directly to an EDD agent for a fee. Claimyr is a legitimate service and has helped many people, but it's important to weigh the cost against the potential time saved. Moreover, consider utilizing all available resources such as your local representatives, as they can provide additional pressure to expedite the process. Staying organized is key, so keep a detailed record of all interactions with the EDD. While the system is daunting, being persistent, informed, and using the right tools can significantly improve your chances of resolving your claim. Remember, reaching out to an employment lawyer or the Department of Labor can also be beneficial if you're met with resistance. Don't lose hope; many people have successfully navigated these challenges with patience and the right strategy.

•Faxing seems outdated, but if it works, why not? Desperate times call for desperate measures!

I feel ya, OP. The system is broken af. I've been waiting 5 months for my claim to be processed. It's like they're playing baseball with our lives and we keep striking out 😤

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, including dates, times, and who you spoke to. 2. Send a certified letter to the FMLA office explaining your situation. Include copies of all relevant documents. 3. File a complaint with the Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division. They oversee FMLA compliance. 4. Consider reaching out to an employment lawyer. Many offer free consultations. 5. As others have suggested, contact your local representative. They can often cut through red tape. 6. Keep calling. Be polite but persistent. Sometimes you just need to find the right person who's willing to help. Remember, you have rights under FMLA. Don't give up!

•Great advice! I'd add - sometimes checking social media for EDD updates can give you insights or contact methods you hadn't thought of.

•This is incredibly helpful! I'd also suggest keeping screenshots of your online account status and any error messages you encounter. These can serve as additional evidence if you need to escalate further.

•Bold idea, but might backfire in the long run. There has to be a better way to get our voices heard.
