FMLA extension stuck in limbo for 3+ weeks, no response from EDD. Help!

Has anyone else been waiting forever for their FMLA extension to be processed? I sent in my paperwork through my employer 3 weeks ago for an extension from 3/17 to 5/4, and I haven't heard anything back. I've tried messaging them online but got no response. This is so frustrating! I was paid for my initial claim from 2/26 to 3/16, but now I'm just waiting in limbo. Any advice on how to get through to them?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I've been dealing with the same issue for over a month now. It's like they've gone radio silent 🙄 Have you tried calling them directly? I know it's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

I've tried calling but can never get through. It's always busy or I'm on hold for hours 😫 Did you have any luck getting through on the phone?

Honestly, it took me days of constant redialing. I finally got through after calling right when they opened. But even then, I was on hold for like 2 hours. It's ridiculous how hard they make it!

Pro tip: call at exactly 8:01 am. That's when I finally got through after weeks of trying!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? Kinda skeptical about paying for something like that...

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. The $20 was worth it to finally get my issue resolved.

Wait, we have to PAY to talk to a government agency now? That's messed up. 🤦‍♂️

I hear ya, but think of it this way - how much is your time worth? For me, not spending hours on hold was totally worth the cost.

Here's what I've learned from my FMLA extension nightmare: 1. Document everything! Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them. 2. If possible, get your HR department involved. Sometimes they can escalate things. 3. Be persistent. Call every day if you have to. 4. Check your online account regularly for any updates. 5. Consider reaching out to your local representative's office. They sometimes can help with these issues. Hang in there, OP. The system is broken, but don't give up!

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start keeping better records. Didn't even think about contacting my rep - great idea!

This is gold 💯 Wish I had known all this when I started my FMLA journey. Gonna save this for future reference!

I'm in the exact same boat, OP. It's been 5 weeks for me and still crickets. This whole system is a joke. How are we supposed to survive while they take their sweet time? 🤬

Preach! 👏 It's like they forget we have bills to pay and families to feed. The stress is unreal.

For real. I'm about ready to camp outside their office until someone helps me 😤

Has anyone tried reaching out on social media? Sometimes publicly calling them out on Twitter or Facebook can get their attention. Worth a shot if nothing else is working!

This actually worked for me! I tweeted at them and got a DM with a direct number to call within a day. Give it a try!

Guys, I hate to be that person, but have you checked to make sure you filled out all the forms correctly? I thought I was waiting forever, only to find out I missed a signature on one page 🤦‍♀️ Might be worth double-checking everything.

Oof, that's a good point. I'm pretty sure I filled everything out right, but maybe I'll ask my HR to review it just in case. Thanks for the tip!

idk if this helps but I heard they just updated their system last month. might be causing delays for everyone. doesn't make it suck any less tho 😑

Anyone else notice that it seems to go in waves? Like, they'll process a bunch of claims all at once and then nothing for weeks? Maybe we're just in a slow period and they'll catch up soon. Trying to stay optimistic here! 🤞

You might be onto something. My claim was stuck for ages and then suddenly approved out of nowhere. Hang in there, everyone!
