PFL bonding claim filed 9/4 - no response yet. What to ask when I call EDD?
Hey everyone, I filed for Paid Family Leave bonding on September 4th and haven't heard anything back yet. It's been over a week and I'm getting a bit anxious. Has anyone else experienced long wait times for their PFL bonding claim? Any tips on what I should do or ask when I finally get through to an agent? I'm planning to call them soon and want to make sure I cover all my bases.

Ugh, the waiting game is the worst! I filed for PFL bonding about a month ago and it took forever to hear back. Here's what I'd suggest: ⢠Have all your docs ready when you call. They might ask for stuff you didn't even think about. ⢠Ask about the current processing time. It changes all the time. ⢠See if there's anything else they need from you to speed things up. ⢠Get a follow-up plan if you don't hear back in X days. Hang in there! The system is slow, but it usually works out in the end.

ā¢Thanks so much for the detailed advice! I'll definitely have my docs ready. Did they ask you for anything unexpected when you called?

ā¢Yeah, actually! They wanted proof of my relationship to the baby (birth certificate) even tho I thought that was obvious from the hospital paperwork. Better to have too much than not enough!

ā¢This is solid advice. I wish I had known all this when I filed last year. Took me 6 weeks to get my first payment š

I feel ya, buddy. The PFL system is like a black hole sometimes. Have you tried checking your claim status online? Sometimes it updates there before they actually contact you.

ā¢I didn't even know you could check online! Thanks for the tip, I'll give that a try right now.

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

ā¢Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

ā¢Totally legit! I was skeptical too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo.

ā¢20 bucks to skip the hold time? Sign me up! How long did it take to get through?

ā¢It took about 2 hours for me, but I didn't have to sit there listening to that awful hold music. Just got a call when an agent was ready!

pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You'll have a better chance of getting through quickly.

Hang in there! I know it's frustrating, but try to enjoy this time with your new baby. The money will come eventually. Congrats on your new addition! š¶ā¤ļø

ā¢Aww, thank you! You're right, I should focus on the positive. It's just hard not to stress about the finances too.
