PFL Application: How long for callback? Anxious about wait times
Hey everyone, I just applied for paid family leave and I'm waiting for a call back from the agency. Has anyone gone through this process recently? How long did it take to hear back? I'm getting a bit anxious about the wait time.

I applied for PFL last month and it took about 2 weeks to hear back. The waiting game is tough, but hang in there! Have you tried checking your online account for any updates?

Thanks for the info! I haven't checked my online account yet, I'll do that now. Did you have to provide any additional documents after applying?

Yeah, they asked me for some extra medical documentation. Make sure you have all your paperwork ready to go, it'll speed things up!

Ugh, the waiting is the worst part! I remember when I applied, it felt like forever. Pro tip: keep calling them every few days. Sometimes you can get different info from different reps.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Wow, that sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I was skeptical at first too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth it if you're desperate to talk to someone.

Idk man, sounds like a scam to me. Why should we have to pay extra just to access a government service? š¤

I get the skepticism, but it's not a scam. It's just a service that saves you time. Think of it like paying for express shipping or something. Totally optional, but there if you need it.

Here's what I've learned from my experience with PFL: ā¢ Be patient, the process can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks ā¢ Double-check all your paperwork before submitting ā¢ Keep a log of all your calls and interactions ā¢ If possible, submit everything online - it's usually faster ā¢ Don't be afraid to follow up if you haven't heard anything after 3 weeks ā¢ Make sure your employer has submitted their portion of the forms ā¢ Have your doctor's office confirm they've sent all necessary medical info Hope this helps! Good luck with your application!

am i the only 1 who thinks its ridiculous we have to jump through so many hoops for PFL? like, we're already dealing with family stuff, why make it harder? š¤¦āāļø

Preach! š The whole system needs an overhaul. It's 2023, why can't this process be more streamlined?

Totally agree. I work in tech and the government systems are so outdated. They need to hire some decent developers and modernize everything.

Has anyone had luck getting retro pay for the waiting period? I've heard mixed things about whether it's possible or not.

I managed to get retro pay, but I had to really fight for it. Make sure you have documentation for everything!

Just a heads up, there's been some changes to the PFL policy recently. Make sure you're looking at the most up-to-date info on the official website. I almost messed up my application because I was using old guidelines š
