PFL Claim Filed Nov 4 - How Long for EDD to Process?

Hey everyone, I just filed for Paid Family Leave on November 4th. Anyone know how long it usually takes to process? I haven't heard anything back yet and I'm getting a bit anxious. Any tips on what to expect or how to check the status?

Welcome to the waiting game! šŸ™ƒ It typically takes a few weeks for EDD to process PFL claims. Have you tried checking your online account for any updates? Sometimes they post stuff there before sending out notices.

Thanks for the tip! I'll def check my online account. Didn't even think of that lol

Yeah, the online portal is hit or miss tho. I've had updates there before getting mail, but sometimes it's radio silence everywhere šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Ugh, I feel ya. I filed back in September and it took almost a month to hear anything. The system is so backed up rn its ridiculous. Hang in there!

Pro tip: I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. Used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

Here's what I know about PFL processing times: • Typically takes 2-3 weeks for initial review • If all docs are in order, you might get approved in that timeframe • If they need more info, it could stretch to 4-6 weeks • First payment usually comes 1-2 weeks after approval Key things to speed it up: 1. Make sure all your docs are submitted correctly 2. Double-check your online account for any requests 3. If you don't hear back in 3 weeks, try calling (good luck with that tho) Hope this helps! Hang in there, the waiting is the worst part.

Wow, thanks for the detailed breakdown! Really appreciate it. Guess I'll try to be patient for another week or so before I start freaking out šŸ˜…

Honestly, the whole system is a joke. I've been waiting 6 weeks now and still nothing. California needs to get its act together 🤬

Preach! šŸ‘ It's 2024 and we're still dealing with this nonsense

6 weeks?! That's insane. Have you tried reaching out to your local rep? Sometimes they can help push things along
