Just filed for PFL - What should I expect? Any recent experiences?
Hey everyone, I just filed for Paid Family Leave and I'm not sure what to expect. Has anyone gone through this process recently? How long did it take for your claim to be processed? Any tips or advice would be really appreciated!

I filed for PFL about 3 months ago. It took around 2 weeks for them to process my claim. Make sure you have all your documentation in order - that really speeds things up!

•2 weeks?! You're lucky. Mine took over a month to process. 😩 The system is so backed up rn

•Wow, I guess I got lucky then! Maybe it depends on the time of year?

Just a heads up, be prepared for possible delays. The system can be pretty overwhelmed, especially with all the covid-related claims still in the mix. Patience is key!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

•How long did you have to wait for the callback?

•It took about 2 hours, but I just went about my day and got the call when an agent was available. Way better than being stuck on hold!

Here's what you need to know about PFL claims: • Processing time varies, but expect 2-4 weeks on average • Make sure ALL your paperwork is filled out correctly • Double-check that your employer submitted their portion • Keep copies of everything you submit • If you haven't heard back after 3 weeks, try to contact them • Be prepared to provide additional info if requested Hope this helps! Good luck with your claim!

Pro tip: If you're having trouble reaching someone, try calling right when they open in the morning. I got through after only a 20-minute wait!

Anyone else notice that the online portal is always "under maintenance" when you need it most? 🙄

•I swear they do it on purpose to discourage people from filing claims lol

Hey OP, what's your reason for filing PFL? I'm considering it for bonding time with my newborn, but I'm worried about the financial impact. Any thoughts?

•I'm actually filing for the same reason! From what I've read, you get about 60-70% of your wages. It's not full pay, but it's better than nothing for sure.

•Congrats on the new baby! 🎉 The bonding time is priceless, even if the pay is reduced. Totally worth it imo
